Asking for rent to occupy their space sounds a lot less dictatorial than trying to banish another players character from ever enjoying 0.0 life again and making them "obsolete". I don't necessarily support BoB's "space renting" format for allies, but so far the hour of ratting/hauling a month has been worth it to fly alongside game friends. I never joined RISE for the purpose of being "protected" by BoB, as such their absence has not outraged me at all. The elements of threat, disrespect, and my theoretical "obligations" do a disservice to achieving the surface apparent goal of alliance conversion in your post. Basically BoB's space renting model is not ideal, but it sounds like what you are presenting is also not ideal. Which is the lesser of two evils is obviously up for debate. Why would you actively try and recruit people opportunistic enough to turn against fellow allies and friends (not necessarily the "hated" BoB) when the heat is turned up? Seems to me like poor recruiting practices altogether. Also I play this game for fun, not self-respect, hopefully people don't garner their self respect primarily through their actions in a virtual world. Paying an absentee protector so you can act as a meatshield doesn't seem to be much fun from my point of view, especially when you have the honour of 'pep' talks and are perceived as nothing more than peons. I feel sorry that you guys can't and couldn't see an alternative to this and I in no way mean to belittle you or your alliance when I say this but your decisions have been bad ones. Goonswarm never cared that you wanted to shoot us, it was always about the banner under which you chose to do it. I hope that in the future you can take the examples of some of the other entities out there and try an reclaim some dignity and self respect when all this is said and done.
