Two questions:
1) Goons cheating?
2) Unfair connections? I assume you're referring to the GIA, and it's not unfair if every other person is able to do it. It's not our fault if you're unable to run a spynet.
It's not BoBs fault you are unable to gain friends with CCP. It is something anyone could do. Paint your metagaming however you like. It's the same thing as BoBs. So who is worse? The people who are corrupt or the people who see the corrupt people and choose to be MORE corrupt?
Finally, it's not that I am unable to run a spynet, I would never do such a thing. Nor would I have observers in the gallery of a poker game to spy on others cards to gain an unfair advantage. I enjoy the games and playing those games by the rules and seeing who can succeed in that manner. Anyone can cheat and win by going outside of the rules. That's like stealing candy from a baby, where is the satisfaction in cheating and winning? I find none.
If your contention is that CCP condones such actions, then I find that to be even a more despicable team up than the CCP/BoB team up.
Posted a few pages back, sorry but I feel I have to reply.
So, a little story for you.
My corp recently left VOLT, small alliance alliance who had a bit of a fling down south fighting you guys. Was a lot of fun, thanks for all the fish etc, shame our corp had to leave but these things happen.
The point of this ramble is to tell you that during this period, we had recently allowed a noobie corp into the alliance. Their ceo had been keen to join for ages, we liked him so we let him in. I distinctly remember the conversation myself and a few other directors had with said ceo, trying to patiently explain to him why the 8 or so new recruits he had just admitted were all blatent and undeniable RISE spies. As a consequence of this, said CEO was seriously dissolusioned - he wanted to allow his small corp to grow, but saw no way to do so while being bombarded by spies left, right and center. In the end, we all agreed it was best if his corp left the alliance. Shame, I did like him, even if he was a tad clueless.
So please, keep your self righteous "Oh I would never do that!! Spying is evil!" spiel to yourself?
You may not do it, you probably dont even know of it, but your alliance DOES operate spy networks. Hell, EVERY serious alliance operates spy networks, its par for the course in Eve these days, thanks in no small part to BoB I might add. Only difference here is that most do not advertise it, but hey goons have their obvious reasons for doing so in this instance.
Expanding on the spy network thing, BoB has always operated a very sophisticated and quite nasty spy network, using it to offline enemy tower during war time, amongst other distinctly dirty tactics. And you are saying this, combined with their CCP style cheating, is better than smacking you in CAOD? This cheatage is still ongoing, but I wont go into it in depth here (foreknowledge of compression module nerf anyone?). Anyway, have you forgotten the fact that CAOD used to be ruled by BoB smack at least as venomous as that which goons spew here today? Do I really need to search for the pages and pages of smack after ASCN lost their titan? You may not remember, but I do, and the complete lack of respect for one of the greatest alliances and leaders Eve has ever seen is one of the reasons myself and many friends will never fly under a BoB banner.
I do feel sorry for you all though, you have some good guys and some great pilots. Hope you have fun, whatever direction you decide to go in.
