So...If I were trying to move some stuff though systems where gates camps are frequent is training for cloak a good idea.
So there are three kinds of camps... MOB of tacklers Approaching a Warp Scramble Deployable or Probe Gating into a Warp Scramble Deployable or Probe
Will the ability to cloak help in any of these circumstances? Again the point is not combat, but blockade running
Thanks

Be aware that non-covert ops cloaks is not a guaranty that you will make it through. Cloak break when you are with in 2k of an object, a good gate camper knows this. If they see a non-covert ops ship cloak they will fly straight for your last know position. In a hauler or other slow moving ship, even fitted for speed, you have 40 sec tops to get out of the way or POP!
But if your cargo is small enough for a covert ops ship, then you are golden. Covert ops not only can move at full speed but can warp while cloaked too. Odd of catching you, even if in a bubble, is very slim. Can still be done, just not likely.

Well, it can be. Note however that only a few select ships can actually warp cloaked. So if in a hauler of any sort, you would warp uncloaked to the bubble, and then cloak (assuming nothing is within 2000m) and then slow boat, and i mean SLOW boat to the gate, uncloak and then jump through.
Any decent gatecamp would have something fast enough to get to where you were and uncloak you long before you ever made it to the gate.
Hauling in a recon or covert-op ship that supports the covert-ops cloak is often the best bet.
for small things, i'd suggest the covert-op frig with a MWD. Great for pushing off the gate before you recloak after a jump. plus with the Covert-op cloak you don't get a speed penalty. Stealth Bombers can be good too. but i don't feel like explaining all that.
Best bet is to send a scout ;)

Inties with a mwd and cloak also work, as do mwd stealth bombers. Any ship that is small and fast basically. If it's not a covops ship, you just hit the mwd, cloak, and despite the penalty, the mwd will still have you goin pretty darn fast.

I would much rather be going at 4000m/s or more than be able to cloak if I was trying to run blockades...

Tip w/ Cloaks and MWDs. As long as your not in a bubble, this will allow you to pretty much get through a camp. Before your uncloaked after jumping in, find a celestial body to align to (something in a group is better). When your ready, double click on the body so your going in the right direction; hit your MWD so you get a speed boost and then cloak up. Once your speed starts decreasing from the MWD, decloak and warp. You'll be going at least 75% of your max speed needed for warping so you'll pretty much insta-warp. Not, this requires a Improved cloak, not a regular. --------------- This sig has been censored in fear of recieving the ban hammer... |

I love cloaks to be safe, you just got to be fast to use em properly and use the right fittings

Originally by: pandymen Inties with a mwd and cloak also work,
Not only do they work, but they work the absolute best of all. Not only do they get you out of the bubble, and away from the point where you decloak and cloak, very fast, but even should you get decloaked you still have your speed as a backup to get out of the situation. A covert ops that gets decloaked is dead.
Also, an interceptor warping into a bubble to get to a gate can just mwd straight for the gate and jump out before anything can kill him. A covert ops has to be a lot more carefuul in that situation.
