Read above re buyers. You are 1 week into a fortnightly reporting cycle, last NAV 1.139 a week ago so you will find easy buyers for 50 at 1.14 mil isk /share or more (including OPTECH itself). i.e. 14% since launch.

Edited by: Professor Bunsen on 10/01/2008 19:47:59 6 day shareholder vote called today. Message as follows ...
"Eve-Index is ready for launch. The profits generated so far for OPT-M have been from normal mineral trading on the markets, done simply to maintain value for investors. I am proposing a one off dividend to return the share value to the nominal starting value of 1 million."
Share price at launch was 1 mil, at last valuation it was 1.263 mil so the dividend would be 263k per share.
Shareholder sales have released 1650 shares which would be sold post dividend at the original IPO price of 1 mil/share effectively returning the fund to its planned 50/50 public/private ownership (and 10 bil value) prior to Eve-Index launch.

All available shares are now reserved. Reservations taken in order for the 1650 shares available...
Raskor 100 Dougalar 250 Feyloan 250 Rix Machur 100 (14.57 evemail) Prokonsul Piotrus 250 Dreysine 300 Verreuchter 100 (17.35 evemail) Titus Lewis 300 --- All reserved --- Verschwenderisch 150
Thank you for the reservations. Please do not send isk now. Verschwenderisch. I returned your 150 mil but will hold you as first reserve in case anyone above you does not take up their reservation.
The shareholder vote ends 19.27 on the 16th Jan so I will post again after this to ask for payment for the reserved shares.
There are a few names in the above list I do not know from past dealings, which is great but please make sure you have read the IPO launch post. In summary the 10 bil fund will be used to speculate on mineral prices and I may get my predictions wrong so (slightly unusually for an Eve investment) the share value may go down as well as up.

I can't help but think a futures market for moon materials would have been much more useful. Moon materials are much more time/batch based than regular minerals. You buy raw materials, get out finished supplies 2 weeks or a month later, etc. Seems much more appropriate for a futures market, when guaranteeing rates a month down the line would actually be useful.

As for the data, I'll get back to you on that...

OPT-M Results - Fortnight ended 1/2/08
- Valuation at start of 2 week period 10 bil
- NAV at end of this period is 10.458 bil, i.e. 458 million increase (net of salary)
- 28 day ROCU 6.48%
Full results history
Activity on Eve-Index is not picking up as hoped and consequently the profits continue to represent old fashioned trading, and in a falling mineral market. This is not fun, and whilst I am able to generate a return it is nowhere near my ambitions. I am going to chalk this one down to experience and at the end of Feb when the current mineral options expire I expect to be winding up OPT-M and buying back the shares at full NAV.
The difficulties in getting substantial usage of the fairly esoteric concept of an options market were anticipated. However I still wanted to give it a try and I got great satisfaction from solving the problems and making the market software actually work. There are elements of the coding for Eve-Index that will be cannibalised for another project so all is not wasted.
