the man speaks the truth if youre joining a large corp that has locked down a low sec system with a level 5 agent and u have the manpower they can be ok and good for raising standings but otherwise maybe wait for the next patch

If you want to take a look see, log onto Sisi like I did and you can safely accept lvl 5 missions and go in on a suicide run.
You will see for yourself the rewards offered as well as LP's, and the insane incoming DPS :) X-type Faction tanked dual rep Hyperion = 3 minutes and 20 seconds to pod. another mission it lasted 6 minutes.
For Gallente try Murethand Verge Vendor or Aeshee, you can buy all T2 mods and all ships for 100 isk at many stations, including Moros and Thanatos in Vaere (hi sec)for example. faction stuff you have to use your own as its not on the market.
You will still need the skills and standings though.
And Ollobrains I seem to recall you were the infamous forum troll with the inane one liners that rarely made any sense "Miss Overlords" main or alt? I hope she sold your character and isnt back to haunt us

Aren't they meant to be done as a group? If you work together with some friends, it might be worth the effort.

with a gang and mutual repping they are doable. Lots of salvage and some bounty if you get a pirate faction ..tags otherwise.
Our oppinion was wasnt worth the effort versus just speed running L4s with one guy looting/salvaging afterwards.

My corp ran a lvl 5, thinking it was going to be the most difficult thing we'd ever seen. Stray Carrier was mish name, I think. Warped in, I "tanked" in an Eos but had a logisitcs ship shield repping (I never got below 40% shields). The carrier nos'ed me and I had no cap for the entire fight...had seven(7) other corpmates there, they were able to deal with everything fairly easily. Problem was this - we were fighting Gallente faction so no bounties. Sure we knew this going in. So we were thinking some decent loot or tags at the very least. Nada. No loot worth mentioning and the carrier dropped some sort of Gallente Navy tag worth about a million isk. The mission reward was 4 million combined (reward + speedy finish) and gave about 12k LP. Not worth the time, in my opinion. Had to organize lots of people, including a low sec run that is generally overrun with pirates (Tamo, Mara, Nalvula area). Meh, I'll stick to lvl 4's...
