I hear often the Raven is a total waste of space these days. While not considering one personally, I want to purchase one for my best friend who was deprived of his battleship a few months back by some log-on gate-campers.
I look at the ship and I see the ultimate shield tank myself. I see the ability to fire six missiles in rapid succession. I see the second-best EW platform BS in the game.
I suppose I could be wrong - I've never piloted a Caldari ship in my life.
While yes, I realize that missiles can hit rocks, and yes, the ship is both slow and takes a long time to lock another ship, it still seems to have a lot going for it.
I could easily see how the solo player might not want one, but as part of a two-ship group or a fleet, I think it would fair very well.
At any rate, I'd like to hear why it's so bad. Sure, there's no missile damage bonus for instance, but from what I've seen, it may be that it's judged too harshly.
Lets hear what you all have to say Centauri,

YART (yet another raven thread)
PROS -6 launchers w/ ROF bonus, good firepower short/midrange. -6 Midslots gives more versatility than most other tier 2 battleships. -Longest targetting range of any tier 2 battleship (but what good is it with short range weapons such as missiles?) -Most shield capacity of any tier 2 battleship. -Best CPU of any tier 2 battleship. (see cons though)
CONS -Hybrid bonus is basically useless, Raven has very little power with turrets. -Most massive (least agile) tier 2 battleship -Tied for second slowest tier 2 battleship. -Worst scanning resolution of any tier 2 battleship. -Highest signature radius of any tier 2 battleship. -Missiles are basically worthless at long range combat. -Missiles are very expensive, Raven is easily the most expensive ship in the game to keep armed. -Tends to run out of CPU before you achieve a decent setup, not many low slots to sacrifice for CPU upgrades and maintain good cap recharge for shield tanking.
Take that list for what it's worth, Raven suffers mostly from missiles sucking. Hopefully upcoming patch will address missile issues and Caldari ship bonuses issues, rumour has it, it does. ------

For what it's worth
I have a Raven, ( got it 5 days ago )& I have to say it rocks.. Yes its slow, and yes its expensive to keep armed but i reckon that it makes up for it weakness's in fleet combat..
All in all a Damn good BS!!!
Hope those rumours are true about the upcoming patch :) ------------------------------------------------

i have to say, the raven is ok, but when i got one, a got rid of it shortly after and went back to my scorp
like jim said, has major CPU issues, just as you think you got a good setup and then u run out of CPU for that last all important module (and ive got electronics lvl 5 and wepon upgrades at 4)
good for tanking and can do immense damage at short range, but missiles suck, blow themselves up, people warp away when youve fired a full volley, and it costs a fortune in cruise and torps... over all id choose a scorp anyday of the week over the raven, or a megathron or tempest

I am a Raven user and with the set up I use IT FLYS!!! I do mount duel mwds and I do use intertail stabs and overdrives and a low slot cap rechargers. and I can still tank it out. so it is more agile and faster then normally would be expected. Have caught allot of oppenents off guard with it as well! they sh!t their pants when I am up on them and dosing them with a stream of cruise missles! the end result is usually a warp away by the enemy.

That might work with a cap injector, otherday (yesterday my birthday) I lost my scorp. Tanked VERY nicely while traveling too :[ Cap injector did help me on my way though... before i got ktxhbyepwn0rd by 6-7 CA. A useful setup may be XL / hardener / hardener / 2 x mwd cap injector... But for what its worth, shields suck, cap sucks, cap injector 800 modules are 80m3 (with alotta missiles in your hold/ammo its hard to fit more than 2-3). I wish I had one... so I could sell it for a new scorp. I've flown it and I would say for the 95-100mil it is going for, I would not fly it even if I could afford it.
Get a scorp.

I'd like to see you tank with that setup.

LOL a tank with that setup please. U still need Shield booster and the rest basically hardners to even consider that for a tank setup and all cap relays in low slots just preying not to run out of cap to hit your MWD before your screwd. Fear The Bunny

I am not sure about that
Suits a specific role, and a different style to most peoples.
Ask skillz about the dominix that dispatched his arma - I think that had two mwd's fitted at the time.
