Hi.
Every attempt launching Eve updated to recent 1.1 under self-built Wine 1.3.37 on Debian Squeeze (6.0.3) goes smoothly until I choose my character, then it shows up 'Entering game as "My Character"' and Wine displays me an 'Unrecoverable error' dialog shortly afterwards.
Would anyone help me to cope with this?
./configure parameters, aswell as Wine traceback will be replied with upon a request. |

Getting error after seeing window "you've got new neocom"
wine log is quite short:Quote:fixme:dbghelp:elf_search_auxv can't find symbol in module fixme:dbghelp:fetch_thread_info Couldn't open thread 35 (87) fixme:wininet:URLCache_FindFirstFreeEntry Grow file err:wininet:CommitUrlCacheEntryInternal no free entries wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x000001f0 at address 0x6f5ec51 (thread 0027), starting debugger...
edit: the problem was in WIS. Disabling it worked. I undocked, re-enabled WIS, docked again (appeared in ship hangar) then pressed "enter captains quarters" and got the same error. |

Confirming that Crucible Patch 1.1 causes my wine to crash with a "bad file descriptor" when entering captains quarters.
Stacktrace is here: pastebin.com/PxsbRrb6

It seems to require a native dx9 {42,43} dll now.
Not sure which is really necessary, will play around with it some more. |

Tried installing entire "d3dx9" package with winetricks. I was able to log in successfully but only for a limited time; when trying to dock back into the station it crashed. Subsequent attempts to log in resulted in crashes.
What did seem to work was to disable "Load Station Environment" before logging in.
The problem seemed to appear when trying to load the Neocom / Captain Quarters; this option changes the dynamic background with a static image. It seems to do the job so far, and it also makes window handling quite faster.

Thanks, Kal. Disabling this option, prior to logging in, solved the problem completely. Well, at least, from a user's point of view ) |

I don't experience it with this character (not using CQ) but my alts (who haven't been changed from the default of logging in to CQ rather than ship hangar) get the issue.
I haven't tried to customize my character since I added the earring - does the customizer also fail?
I recall the patch installer mentioning Visual Studio 2010 as one of the changes, could "vcrun2010" be a requirement for CQ now?
Disabling the "Load Station Environment" works so I could change skills on my alts, that much I can confirm, sorry for more questions than answers here. I'll have to backup my wine prefix and do some experimentation this weekend. Please support: export of settings in editable format

I had seen that and had already installed "vcrun2010" thinking it would help, but it was not enough; at least not for me, I still had to disable the "Load Station Environment" setting. |

This might not be a Linux- or Wine-specific issue, it seems some Windows users are having the same CQ trouble. Please support: export of settings in editable format

Character re-customization and creation work fine for me, CQ crash. |

Not just a Linux issue but it's a problem with PhysX beta drivers, CCP confirms the issue here. Please support: export of settings in editable format

Just tested it with wine-1.4-rc6 and CQ works again! :)
Thanks to the wine team!
If you need details of my configuration, I'll give them.
