What's more RP, having 5 people who are always in-character calling themselves "Caldari Navy" or having 500 "surface" RP'ers who actually ACT like a military force?
Right now what the RP community in Eve defines as "RP" is words rather than actions, using proper grammer, punctuation, showing a knowledge of the backstory and lore etc etc, but in Eve EVERYBODY is RP'ing, even when they dont think they are.
When you see "l33tdude" flying around you think to yourself that's not IC, but it is.
The Eve setting is the future not the past, here in the 21st Century we have people calling themselves "50 Cent" and "Mack Daddy" and "Flavor Flav" why would people name themselves any less outlandishly in the future?
A few hundred years ago pirates named themselves Blackbeard and Captain Hook, for the 1600's those were outlandish names, so maybe in the year 23,000 the pirates go by names like "l33tdude" and "commandosniper" no matter how silly many of us think they are its no different from some guy calling himself "Maggot" or "Tupak" or "Notorious BIG."
Revan - I believe you have it wrong when you say you are a RP celebrity because of your exploits in space. I've never seen you in local and I know who you are. People know you because you've created an entire section of Eve lore all by yourself, I've spent hours reading your stuff and enjoying it. The lore you've created is what makes you significant. Being 1 more warlord in a sea of warlords does not make you an Eve celebrity.
I remember reading Jade Constantine's posts when I was a new player, in fact it was partly why I even subscribed to Eve, before I even played the game I knew who Jade Constantine was.
As I said Eve is a sea of Warlords. If you try to compete on the basis of militarism you will be just 1 goldfish in a sea of sharks.
But a Goldfish who can write and create lore? That's a special fish.

%90 of the playerbase agree that POS warfare makes Eve feel like a job.
The fact that POS warfare sucks is not an RP issue, it is an overall game issue.
As for the guy who left BoB to join CI, doesn't CI get paid to take down POS too?
It seems to me like POS warfare simply can't be avoided.

Ppl can't seem to figure out if they hate each other IC or OOC.
It starts off IC, then it bleeds into "but why do you RP this way" pretty soon it turns into "duel me or stfu" and at that point you're not roleplaying anything anymore.
You say the contempt is IC but who are you kidding.
