Eve then was a small hamlet, most everyone knew most everyone else and there was a degree of harmony.
But as the hamlet grew to a village, then a town, then a city, now its a sprawling metropolis with all the grime and run down areas that go hand in hand. Now we are mostly strangers to everyone, and anyone who dares to be different is an object for scorn. In truth the only time you see any kind of OOC consensus about RP is when its time to beat someone with the RP police baton.
OOC bleed over into IC is not an Eve only issue of course, but as RP entities have aged so to have the fueds as they are passed down to the new recruits, who then carry it on without ever having been part of the original issues behind those fueds.
On a related point I would like to see the RP declarations and stances made/taken to eventually be reflected by the game enviroment.
For instance, Star Fraction pilots should be the lawful prey of every empire military/police. Their declarations as well as their IC wars have shown them to be totaly against the empires.
Gurista RP'ers like the Black Rabbits should be the lawful prey of every NPC Caldari faction military and so would be barred from all related stations and agents, but by the same token be free from agression by NPC pirates who are Gurista or friendly to Gurista.
Radical Caldari "Patriot" factions should be at risk in Gallente space due to their delclaration to free the Homeworld by any means including all out war.
And so and so.
If our RP/IC actually helped to mould the NPC game enviroment more, prehaps we would see less grandstanding and bold statements that would actually change the way the game world reacts (prehaps adversley) to the player/corp making those statements meaningful.
Edit: grammar, spelling, sorry for the slightly waffling post I'm at work and not able to polish the sentences :) hopefully people can see the meaning though my poor words
