What about the free expansion that we are all getting. What about the free extra time you get everytime downtime ends up earlier. What about thinkin that it was preferable for CCP to stop the servers, isolate the cause and persons involved in xploiting the database, fix the hole, correct the devious mods, test to check if everything is ok, and restart the servers safely for everyone to play without further issues of this kind.
You want more compensation than this? _____________________________________ Hello, i like to shoot random people.

Correct, you PAY 15 Euros or 15 Dollars for 30 days playtime.
1 Euro/Dollar gets you 2 days playtime.
You lost 8 hours playtime.
How much do you think CCP owes you?

I totally agree with the OP. It's not about the 1 dollar you will get, it is about the attitude. And I'm trolling here because I'm unable to enter the game I pay for - I ended in Jita before DT...

My sentiments exactly. Would you rather pay for every expansion CCP give us freely or would you like your precious 8 hours worth back which by the way is about .17 cent in euro.
You've lost the equivalent of 17 cent. Would you rather they charged us 30 quid or something similar each time they expand the game or would you rather the compensation for a measly 8 hours of downtime? Hell why don't CCP launch Kali 3 as EvE Online 2 since they've totally redone the engine and in essence given us a new game. Yeh why not do that and charge us 60-80 euro a piece by launching it in stores!
Because the makers of the game love it as much as us and just want people to enjoy it with them. Not to mention the countless other things we get for nothing which Dionisius covered.
Have a bit of patience man it's not like you don't play the game all the time anyway if you're this brusque about a few hours lost.

You don't get refunds, you get your personal and credit card info secured and not abused. You get exploits fixed before the next patch. You get a forum to whine on for free. You get a game that gets better by the month. You get a game that cost so little that a happymeal probably cost you more then a month of play.

The only thing you will get is flames and hello kitty replies from Eveboys that actually dont play the game and just troll the forum all day long. See my earlier thread for example. Like 4 pages of go back to wow replies spit in my face....
I consider it would be the right thing to do considering in this case they destroyed a friday night since I am somewhat addicted.
Also game is still not functional due to huge lag issues in systems where there should be nog lag what so ever.

You will get flamed by people who have played this game a long time because they understand how these things work. There's nothing more infuriating for Eve vets than the kind of whining you demonstrate in your posts.
'They'(CCP)didn't do anything.A hacker attacked their systems.
What do you mean 'Lag in systems which should not be laging'?
How would a measly 0.15 Euros make you feel better?

Rycker, ISK or RL cash is really not a problem in my case. Not being able to get my shot of eve is and I think that it would be curtesy from ccps side to show they care about us...

Maybe you should sue the Hacker(if they find him)for causing you some form of mental distress because you couldn't play a internet spaceship game for 8 hours.

Ha ha, every time something happens we have people crying ½where's our money+ Not goanna repeat those fine words said above, that ware good arguments against your point of view, just to say… You cheep bast*rds. I too “suffered”. Both my character skills finished hours before server was up again, but so what? It’s not the first time for me. Sometimes I get drunk and oversleep, sometimes I get stuck at work or at collage and sometimes server crashes. Those things happen, so stop being such crybabies and grow up. CCP cares for you a their customers and they showed it, oh so many times, And only care I’m really interested in is making this game as best as it can be, as balanced as it can be, as big as it can be.

My goodness people. You play the game at your own risk. You can not expect it to be perfect. I think the big guys overlooking us do a pretty good job at making things flow. It is better to loose a few bits of isk or a few bits of real money instead of having some hacker spend time going thru your credit card numbers that you may use to pay for your time. CCP has to shut things down to find the problem. Be happy somebody scum is not out using your credit card number buying up some brand new online video of well you get the picture...Anyways a few hours is not that much time.

First its 23/7 and secondly this game does work I am surely glad ccp killed the server to fix a HACKER you know the people who STEAL STUFF from the internet like CREDIT CARD NUMBERS and stuff like that. And 1 full day of eve is 8 cents a day i think unless my math is wrong ___________________________________________________ I kill jita whine threads!!!! |

We (players) paying CCP for service, and its CCP problem to effectively defend their servers. If they cant do it (and only solution is to un-plug cable) they should give money back, and next time employ people which can make job done.
And its no difference 8 cents or 8 dolars mate.

I have no doubt that if you read CCP T & C's.... there is bound to be something in their to cover this sort of unscheduled downtime.
In the grand scheme of things... a few hours in EVE is nothing. Would rather they do this stuff to fix problems, rather than have an unplayable game.
One thing I would say, I wish they would host the forums seperately. At least we could pass the time hitting them!! I beleive this is mentioned in another thread somewhere.... but can't be arsed to link it

Has anyone read the End User License Agreement (EULA) and the Terms Of Service (TOS)?
You should have read that before playing, if you did not, you made a mistake... Some of you talk about 8 cents, but in fact, you gave your card numbers without reading what you were paying for... It's quite fun in fact, and you're lucky that CCP is a serious company that won't mess with its client.
Also, compared to many other MMO, you should notice that the exapnsions are free, if you pay several months at once, it's cheaper than many others...
And you cry for 8 cents...
Hey, you should go back playing now, you're loosing fractions of cents while you are discussing this great subject. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

I am glad that CCP shutdown TQ and everything else, it stopped whatever happened in its tracks. Everytime we have unscheduled dt we get the standard moans. Like a few posters have said, we have it good ie free expsnsion packs, a pretty decent price to pay for playing.
Things like this don't happen that often. Keep up the good work CCP
PS if ur not happy can i have ur stuff?

While I also don't mind that CCP takes down the server every now and again to fix certain bugs, I do believe palovita's viewpoint is relevant when these fix downtimes extend to sometimes unreasonable times (not talking bout a couple hrs here folks).
It has been a very long time since the last extended on the spot maintainence period has happened which is great. But as these new patches to the game are applied the chances of this happening again also increase as bugs and such are worked out of the game. I think most people would agree that while $$$ refunds of these periods would not be the smartest move due to all the banking details involved, extended play periods being tagged on to the EVE players subscriptions would prove to be an ample solution to this problem.
The most common view against this that I have seen is that these times do not factor into our subscription fees due to the continued service and 'free' upgrades to the game. Trass' post has addressed this issue head on. Like it or loath it CCP is a business, and as a business it has a responsibility to provide its client's a service, this service is the 23/7 up keep of everyone's favourite, yup you guessed it, EVE Online game. However while keeping this responsibility to us, the customers/clients, CCP also has a responsibility to itself to improve its product and keep them new customers and $$$ rolling in, unless it wants folks to start getting bored and not playing anymore (yeh, not going to happen). These improvements that are so esential to the continued marketing of the game have become to be know as the 'free' upgrades. However I've seen quite a few people describe these free upgrades as bonus features to the game that we should be grateful for because we do not have to hand over additional funds to enjoy these upgrades. Sorry to say to all those people who look at these upgrades like this but they are far from free. These upgrades are a part of the $15 odd a month we all pay for this game. Believe it or not a business such as CCP does not use this money simply for covering the electricity bill of the servers. This cost also includes maintainence of these servers, improved hardware to make that fight just a little less laggy, employee's salaries and among other things the development costs for the expansions to the game.
I think the major divide between the two arguments about this issue is that participants on one side are seeing their relationship to CCP like some second cousin they just hired to put a new bathroom in, but well he's dodgy and didn't finish it on time... but hey he's family so you've got to cut him some slack anyway. While the other side is seeing the issue for what it, in my opinion really is, a business relationship. Money is handed over, and service is provided, and expected to be provided at a continued high quality.
Thankyou palovita for bringing up this issue as I have also wanted to ask a similar question for a while now. And of course there may be some utter wangs who do not understand that this is just a question, and wish to troll around and reply like some crac'k addict who thinks that if he continues to snuggle his nose up every CCP employees arse he might get lucky one day and miraculously find a fix that customs missed.
But in the end if it means the issue will get noticed and addressed before one of these periods happen again then its not to bad

Source: EULA As mentioned before you signed for this when you first logged in. Aka, you pay for nothing. If CCP decides to take it all down, you don't get your money back.
I'v heard (not experienced) about one rare case with the first big content patch tough, it took days before it finaly worked stable. Players were all given a day orso extra to their playtime. So if the whole cluster is down for an absurdly long time, they will refund you. CCP is to kind in that stuff.
As for not being able to play because you are in Jita. Thats your own fault, you went there, you logged out there, no-one forced you to go there. (also, you are the cause of the Jita problem since you don't want to move, the system lags / crashes. Lemming ) _______
