Edited by: Shiodome on 23/10/2007 05:17:37 to be fair the drake is damned hard to break 1v1, people saying they'd easily break a drakes tank in a myrm (lol) or domi aren't fighting drake pilots with >10-15mill SP.
i'm pretty low SP myself (12mill) and this week managed to hold a 18 man IAC gang for 2 minutes ( Linkage ). 2 minutes doesn't sound a lot, but believe me it is under focused fire (this is without rigs, and not even a full tank setup). even got a kill 
and yes i know, not a great gang setup, got 'called up' to help at short notice while ratting, we soon got jumped and i decided to agress and draw fire as they piled into the system so my gang could escape and get a headstart... you're not gonna catch people with a 2mins head-start (better losing a t1 BC and get full insurance than 5 HAC's with messed up t2 insurance?).
anyway the drake has a beast of a tank, i'd not be too worried about a domi going for it solo, blasters or not (mix of blasters/neuts/drones might be better? have fun with the cap though :D). but neuts DO work vs drake, killing the invuln fields speed things up a lot... for some reason not seeing them used much though except on a Curse? _____________________________________ today i am this cool: [uncool]================[*]====[cool]

if i can suggest using 5 ECM drones too instead of 5 light drones. the dps of 5 light drones doesn't make much difference... but the occasional interupption of your opponents target lock makes all the difference (and the drake doesn't have any spare mid slots to fit ECM modules) _____________________________________ today i am this cool: [uncool]================[*]====[cool]

drones have a sensor strength so i assume they can be jammed, not 100% sure, i am sure however that it'd be a waste of time... there'd be 5 drones to jam meaning you either rediculously micromanage to get a tiny chance to jam each individual drone (it would be tiny) or just disable 1 of 5 drones leaving the other 4 poking you in the face.
it would still make more sense to use the ECM drones on the domi itself. if the domi pilot is recalling his drones as you damage them (and he should be doing if he's awake) then each time he redeploys them he needs a target lock to give his mini-minions the "attack target" command. the drones won't auto-attack you they'll just lazily orbit the domi... afaik the drone AI only auto attacks when something iniates agression against thier owner, each time you shoot doesn't count as a 'new aggression'.
bah i ain't explaining it well, maybe someone else will... but imo breaking the opponents targeting lock and interfering with him assigning drones will have more effect than trying to attack the drones themselves with ECM.
dunno if anyone else has thoughts on this? as i've not seen much written about it and i'd be interested in alternatives too  _____________________________________ today i am this cool: [uncool]================[*]====[cool]
