So I've been seeing a lot of rabble on the forums involving these so-called "capitals." Now, I understand that the users of these capitals are big fans of them; they've spent a lot of time gaining the proper skills to use capitals with proficiency and are protective of their investment. Certainly, those that frequently employ the mighty power of the capital would want to keep a firm grip on this keystone to 0.0 conflicts.

I also understand that our beloved CCP has deemed capitals are being use "the wrong way" in game. I understand this concern for game balance, but who is CCP to tell its subscribers what to do with their hard earned capitals. I mean, other than the developers, of course. You know, who are paid to design and balance the game. But still! Lots of people consider EVE a sandbox game, and that means the developers sometimes have to sit back and let the players build their own sand castles. Then, when some big kid comes and knocks them down and kicks sand in all the players' faces, CCP can say "we told you so."

Now, my personal stance on this has no bearing on my solution, but I'm going to offer it anyway because this is a General Discussion thread and that's what we do here; we give our unwarranted, uninformed opinions to everybody who say they don't want to hear them but actually do because they clicked on the damn link in the first place.

So, I've seen lots of capitals in game lately. They're everywhere, especially in local. Whenever somebody gets killed in 0.0 or low sec now, they get right down to calling in their own personal fleet of capitals, and suddenly there's capitals clogging up local and there's nothing to be done about it. I've even heard of these "supercapitals" like "motherships" and "titans," which I can only assume must be some ridiculously huge kind of capital that comes and messes everything up even worse. They must be freakin' huge to be called "supercapitals," 'cause capitals are already pretty darn big, you know.

And sometimes, in gang chat, some guy will want to be heard and he'll start busting out his capitals and throwing his weight around, and then the next guy is spewing his capitals all over the place too, and soon enough - it's just like local, I tell you - it's all full of capitals and nothing can be done. Totally overpowered.

But I think that everyone should still have a right to use capitals, you know? So I think some form of compromise is in order so that everyone will stop using this poor new developer guy as a scapegoat for all their capital-related angst.

Luckily for the entire EVE community, I already came up with the perfect fix for capitals. It's not a nerf, I promise, just a rebalance. I really think people should start using a lot more of this and a lot less of this. The former will allow all of us fans of the proper use of capitals to still have our proper nouns and stuff, and if we all just voluntarily give up the latter, there will be a whole lot less OMG and WTF in local.

If we just follow my idea about capitals, everything should turn out fine. Trust me.

I don't see the problem with capitals. Someone has them out you try to kill them. If alot are out, you try to assemble your own capitals and go fight them. They add a great new dimension to eve and few things are as satisfying as seeing them go boom.
