Low security systems dividing up the empires...
Seriously...think about it.
Currently everyone autopilots to Jita, and then does their shopping there.
If you could ONLY get from Caldari to Gallente space by going through 2 or 3 jumps of low sec then people would have to think twice about it.
If you could only get from Caldari to Amarr space via a 30 jump roundabout route or a few jumps of low sec again people would have to think about it.
Yes you would see four market hubs spring up (one for each empire) but each would be smaller than Jita and we would see real price differences appearing between the empires.
Not really, the most probable reaction to this would be player congregation in 1 empires space (probably either amarr due to size or caldari due to popularity). This will just mean more overpopulated area's and more area's with even less players.
I doubt that that would be an improvement.
The only possible solution would be to introduce taxes based on the number of sale orders in the current system. Which would make it seriously impro*****ble to put anything up for sale in a market hub. This would disperse trade...
BUT personally I would absolutely HATE such a change. First because I hate sales taxes, second because this will make shopping for stuff really annoying since you can't get anything in 1 place anymore and have to travel all over the place :S.
So if you can't stand the Jita lag then just don't go there with your main? --- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs |

Facilitate the buy and sell process, make it easier to USE, make it more ACCESSIBLE, let it generate more VALUE ADD than Jita generates. Look at the problem of buyers/sellers: WHERE to FIND and COMPARE goods, how to get them DELIVERED.
Main areas of work which need 'some luvin': contract interface, courier missions.
So lets say you are based 20 jumps outside Jita and you need a new drake+fitting. How much isk would you be willing to pay to have it delivered?
If you awnser below 40 million (this is only delivery cost! not purchase cost) then it isn't proffitable for people capable of hauling such a load.
Also most contracts are already in Jita since that's where people go to buy stuff... --- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs |

i still think that removing jita IV-4 it's a good idea, it won't hurt trading (dividing all the market orders equally in the other station == win).
What makes you think people would spread out equally amongst the other stations?
If that would happen then why didn't it happen when Jita became the trade center? (keep in mind Jita wasn't always this busy, in ages long gone it was yulai for example or nonni shortly after the introduction of t2). --- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs |

Originally by: NightKhaos I personally liked the idea of increasing sales tax relative to system population. It is a passive solution to the problem and will naturally in discourage hub creation. Also, I highly recommenced that AP takes into account system traffic, think SatNav systems avoiding M1 jams. I also liked the idea of advertising courier contracts more freely with "Send to..." buttons and some such.
All these things will not only get rid of (with time) the current Jita problem, it will discourage another Jita from being created.
I highly prefer a laggy and not always working jita over having to make 20 jumps to get a decently priced ship+fittings.
And since Jita "breaks" so often I am definably not the only one.
Also there already is a traffic advisory in the map, but does it really add to the game that suddenly your AP forces you to take a 20 jump detour to avoid a heavy load system? I prefer crashing every once in a while as opposed to that.
And for the people that prefer the detour they can already avoid the traffic advisory systems. --- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs |

but why dont the greedy local corporations in jita (whomever owns npc stations) simply increase the local sales tax?
this is something that happens all the time with governments. there is an oil boom here in canada in alberta, so the alberta government upped the tax to take advantage.
here in vancouver where i live there is a booming movie industry.. well its starting to taper off because each level of government has been slowly increasing taxes..
the point is whever the tax goes up it slows down the business boom.
maybe this is what jita needs? for role playing story purposes jita could impose these taxes to increase the capability of the local system.
possibly in the form of my other idea. which while not reducing the trade in jita would reduce the number of travellers who get caught there because its also a travel hub. if a system was implimented where you could bypass jita it would be very helpfull for people such as myself who dont sell or buy anything there.
you could impliment this two ways. one you could put in a box in your autopilot settings that lets you buypass jita so that the autopilot plots a path around jita. anoying, but better then being stuck because you didnt notice jita on your flight path.
OR you could have it so when you jump through a jita gate it has the chice to actually stop in jita, or to jump right on through to whichever connecting system you were going to. if you had the auto pilot on it would automatically select the bypass option since you dont actually have any buisness in jita.
just some ideas taken from the real world that work here in my local area.
So you want to travel around 50 jumps to collect a new ship+fitting and end up paying more? --- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs |
