Was the most excellent fight I've had in a carrier since i left Geminate and daily fights with Smash/Kill.
regarding specific questions.....
WE had 3 triage capable carriers, never turned them online, there was no need.
In a 2 hr fight, our carriers (average 7 in battle, 11 by the end, but for the most of the fight it was around 7) we averaged a kill every 10 minutes.
Thats 7 Carriers V what? 50+ Tri... averaging a kill every 10 minutes? We were damped to **** ECM'd to ****, and as everyone know's, TRI is very good with those speed demon configs.
MM had very little supprt fleet at the time... very little. All they could do was lurk the periphery of the system and catch TRI ships forced to warp out and finish them off.
Jumping a carrier to save a HAC? Yes... when a corp mate calls, you go... you do not ask questions.... or leave him to die. As it was, the jump bridge network and teh carrier was the first to arrive to aid.
In regards to any proposed change on carriers. That fight proves 100% how innacurate CCP's assesment of a carrier's OFFENSIVE combat capabilities is.
Sure... in small fights.. 20v20 or so.. the carrier becomes a veritable power house. But once your Support fleet is cleared from the field, which happens all to often.... A carriers firepower is easily easily removed.
MM Carriers went thru on average 200+ Drones OTHER than fighters. Most of us were out of webifier drones, and heavy drones and reaching deep into our stock of less desireable drones. We saved our fighters for last and finaly broke TRI's will to fight with co-ordinated fighter swarms.... But in reality, TRI had us nearly defenseless....
Regarding our circle tank.... at an average range of 60km - 100km... a fleet of that size has little hope of breaking a circle tank. However it has great hope of capitalize on the enemy fleets deployment mistakes... hence the carrier kill they did get.
If that fight had happened in a non Cyno Jamed system... and TRI could have brought thier own cap ships in, it would have been a total hell death.
So in the end.. and CCP i hope you read this. Carriers are already 100% dependant on thier support fleet. As MM had virtualy none in comparison to TRI, our carriers were stuck on grid and at the mercy of TRI's ability to ammass firepower and tactics.
The only thing that saved us were cyno jammers and good defense.. it certaintly was not the carriers offensive capabilities.
P.S. Screw you Developers. Fix problems before you go make new ones.
