I died because I had to go afk and missed the order for support to stay off the gate. So I warped back in and whoops...primaried! heheh. Not too cool being the only thing easily killable on the gate. I started warping immediately..said I was warpinf then i woke up in Jan.
Was a very fun fight, though. Lots of pew pew.

Edited by: Mujun Kross on 24/10/2007 05:14:31 it started out with my cerb getting jumped by a group of tri in a nano-gang. we jumped a carrier in to try and save the ship. after that it went to hell from there.
we had 12 or so carriers at the end against...well...it was an ass load of tri. by the time it was all over we did loose 1 carrier and i have no idea what the support losses were. the losses for tri i have no idea about either as its too damned late and the rest will have to wait.
good fight and hats off to the way tri was able to go from a small nano-gang to 80+ ships in short order. . . . "When going through hell, keep going." -Winston Churchill |

Wild fight.
1 carrier down, lots on each side down.
Looks like MM is ahead by a fair margin from the looks of both KB's.
Fight lasted 2 hours.
It appears that MM has posted their losses, TRI is still posting theirs it looks.
We just killed too many of their damage dealers, so it looks like they called the fight.
As it stands now: MM board Kills: 60 Losses: 29 Damage done (ISK): 2918M Damage received (ISK): 1911M Efficiency: 60.43%
TRI board: Kills: 29 Losses: 34 Damage done (ISK): 1919.74M Damage received (ISK): 2155.54M Efficiency: 47.11%
Pretty wild fight, you have to give it to TRI because they amassed *MANY* pilots in very short order, from DEKLEIN.
I dont know how many fighters got popped, however, I did lose one myself, and scads of drones.

According to the killboards it seems like it was a heavy heavy fight, lots of losses on both sides. Despite losing a carrier Morsus Mihi appear to be clearly ahead. And that's not taking into account any snakesets of the vaga pilots who got podded.
In any case both sides appear to have had fun, and nobody has mentioned the lag monster :)

Fair enough, just from the title I was hoping too hear about a large engagement and losses
Well, there were 11 carriers all humping each other.
We'd have liked to have killed more, but we were fit for a totally different mission when we were called in, so we didn't have enough damps to break the repping conga line.

GJ MM/TRI.
Exactly. Besides...fights any bigger than this tend to be lagged out messes where one side falls victim to some sort of turkey shoot.
I'm not sure how such a fight would be a more valid topic for a CAOD post than this fight was. This was the type of fleet fight people hope to get...little lag...carries on for two hours.

Awesome Fight, Not much lag and no Desynchs.. didn't get on the Carrier KM even though I was laying down the ewar and Cruse missiles. Epic fail for me warping to the wrong gate at the end.. but who cares I have some amazing Carrier Humping Fraps.
All in all GF to MM you guys certainly brought it.. I'm just sad the -Y- doesn't.

I think posting here is a lot less exposing than using their spy alt's in each others' alliances to post on each others' internal forums, wouldn't you say?
Not only that, but this being CAOD and all I hardly think this is any less worthy than the rest of the "announcement" posts that become 50 page flame fests, or the major engagement threads that pretty much ALWAYS end up being "Lag won, Eve sucks and CCP couldn't code an interface to save themselves".
In conclusion: Waa.

Just out of curiosity, particularly in light of the new proposed changes to Carrier roles in the dev blog, anyone from Morsus Mihi care to comment about the Carriers' roles in the fight? Clearly it seemed to work, but was it enjoyable from your standpoint? Was the Triage module used by anyone?

I am a triage capable pilot, and I had it fitted, I learned many reasons as to NOT to use triage, and matter of fact I removed it from my carrier as a result.
The battle was too fluid to tell the fleet that we would be stuck in a static position for 10 mins.
It was extremely hard to catch their ships, the ones we caught were only due to mistakes by them. That fight could have ended very badly for us, matter of fact I had those thoughts about halfway into it, wondering if insurance was still good. :)
Some pretty brilliant command decisions after the carrier loss is what got us on track.
One thing that wasn't mentioned is TRI blew up every wreck on the field before withdrawing, jerks.

We actually ended up getting more Tri stragglers than ATF, as sadly you didn't jump more than a few ships in your fleet of 20-ish on our fleet of 25-ish.

Nope, there was 3 triage capable pilots in that group that I know of though. If the **** really hit the fan, we would have turned it on. But I think it would just prolong the inevitable if it ever got to that point.

lol, you must have heard about my hours-long rants over bad capital fittings! His setup wasn't spectacular (in particular, I'd have liked to see an upgrade to a faction neut, it's an extra 20m or so for an extra 3km of range, and there's a suspiciously-small stack of heavy drones on the lossmail), but it certainly lacked the painfully-obvious shortcomings of many, MANY capitals I've seen dying lately (non-energized armor platings, anyone?).

Was the most excellent fight I've had in a carrier since i left Geminate and daily fights with Smash/Kill.
regarding specific questions.....
WE had 3 triage capable carriers, never turned them online, there was no need.
In a 2 hr fight, our carriers (average 7 in battle, 11 by the end, but for the most of the fight it was around 7) we averaged a kill every 10 minutes.
Thats 7 Carriers V what? 50+ Tri... averaging a kill every 10 minutes? We were damped to **** ECM'd to ****, and as everyone know's, TRI is very good with those speed demon configs.
MM had very little supprt fleet at the time... very little. All they could do was lurk the periphery of the system and catch TRI ships forced to warp out and finish them off.
Jumping a carrier to save a HAC? Yes... when a corp mate calls, you go... you do not ask questions.... or leave him to die. As it was, the jump bridge network and teh carrier was the first to arrive to aid.
In regards to any proposed change on carriers. That fight proves 100% how innacurate CCP's assesment of a carrier's OFFENSIVE combat capabilities is.
Sure... in small fights.. 20v20 or so.. the carrier becomes a veritable power house. But once your Support fleet is cleared from the field, which happens all to often.... A carriers firepower is easily easily removed.
MM Carriers went thru on average 200+ Drones OTHER than fighters. Most of us were out of webifier drones, and heavy drones and reaching deep into our stock of less desireable drones. We saved our fighters for last and finaly broke TRI's will to fight with co-ordinated fighter swarms.... But in reality, TRI had us nearly defenseless....
Regarding our circle tank.... at an average range of 60km - 100km... a fleet of that size has little hope of breaking a circle tank. However it has great hope of capitalize on the enemy fleets deployment mistakes... hence the carrier kill they did get.
If that fight had happened in a non Cyno Jamed system... and TRI could have brought thier own cap ships in, it would have been a total hell death.
So in the end.. and CCP i hope you read this. Carriers are already 100% dependant on thier support fleet. As MM had virtualy none in comparison to TRI, our carriers were stuck on grid and at the mercy of TRI's ability to ammass firepower and tactics.
The only thing that saved us were cyno jammers and good defense.. it certaintly was not the carriers offensive capabilities.
P.S. Screw you Developers. Fix problems before you go make new ones.
