Or, just one of the few people posting about it :-)
I was glad to be part of the "first contact" team with Kieron and I welcome him to the community and look forward to good things in the future. As many have said, information and communication is key. Welcome!

What I want to discuss here is the sudden and mysterious disappearence of Pann.
I'm not at liberty to discuss the exact reasons behind Pann's departure, as they are hers to tell. However, I will say that her departure from Eve was completely amicable. There are no hard feelings on her part towards CCP or vice versa.

Edited by: Raem Civrie on 28/02/2004 12:24:31 Unless I am mistaken, EVE was her first game as a community manager. And no, I won't re-iterate. I haven't had a post deleted in three months now.
But yes. Alot of things showed strong tendencies towards the more common aspects of dictatorship, i.e. exclusive access to information, suppression of opinion and the expression thereof, and subsequent witchhunts.
I'll greet you, but that's just as much as you'll get, sorry. :/
Also, we never really were told what the hell she DID all day. If she was managing us, it was via proxy... |

Edited by: eXe Galanodel on 28/02/2004 22:57:16 Welcome to the community Kieron. You might wanna get some +5 flame-resistant clothing to survive these forums. For your viweing pleasure, i'm going to include some of the biggest EVE fan sites out there, submitted for your viewing pleasure.
www.eve-i.com- News site for EVE, We tend to stay away from tabloid news, and stick to reporting on in-game events, and such.
www.eveguardian.com - Another news site, they specialize in tabloid news about the various alliance in EVE.
http://winterblink.com/wda - An eve-related comic thats updated rather regularly.
www.eve-radio.com - The radio station for all of EVE pretty much, they keep almost 24/7 live DJs.
So, there you go. Hope you find it all helpful.

Welcome Kieron :)
So what exactly is a "community manager" anyway? As in, where do you fall on the food chain? Is your job to supervise the mods/Polaris/events? Or troll the forums? Or what? I've never quite understood what this job meant.
Perhaps clarifying what exactly one does as a "community manager" would go a long way toward making people understand what exactly they should or should not expect from you? :)
Just my little opinion.
Welcome!

Welcome Kieron.
Pann used to hang out in the #eve-radio channel and it was a rather convenient way of getting hold of her other then email. Perhaps you will do the same?
Best of luck in your new post. You'll need it!

i'm keeping this constructive, just so you know it isn't a rant.
Customers pay a subscription to play this game.
If the customers aren't kept satisfied, you will lose them
You ask players to get onto the test server, to help test the new changes to the game, but you offer no reward for people taking the time out to do so. You have to be one can short of a six-pack to volunteer for something with nothing back in return
Offer something back to people that make useful contributions. Those customers that log on to the test server on a regular basis are sacrificing their game-time on the main server to help you devs.
Please do not disguise price rises. I know that some kind of legislation has forced you to start charging European customers in Euro's rather than Dollars. Why force Uk Players to pay in Euro's? We still have the pound sterling in the Uk. Anyway, the same amount translated from Dollars to Euro's means a ten uk pound price rise for your customers on the six month subsription for people playing from the Uk
The first newsletter you put out, stated that there would only be a slight price increase on the 1 month and 3 month subscription options. I'm asking you to be honest
I've kept this as polite as i can, i want to see Eve Online go from strength to strength as the years go by

Welcome!
Actually, I'm wearing two hats, that of Community Manager and Volunteer (Polaris) Manager. In a nutshell, the role of the Community Manager is to interact with the players through chats, e-mail, forums, etc. and provide a two-way conduit for information between CCP and the players.
As the Volunteer Manager, it is my responsibility to supervise (with the assistance of the Department Leads) the volunteers in the Polaris Program.
Hope this answers your questions.
