Recently I have been seeing more and more suicide gankers popping haulers and other ships in High-sec empire space. It happened to me aswell. Lost my iteron 5 with aprox 350mil of named loot and faction blue print copies in it. I suggest CONCORD need to be on the scene a LOT quicker and have a way faster response to the threat at hand. What is the point in traveling in empire with a hauler taking stuff from one place to another just to be popped by a suicide ganker or gank squad. The offending ship should not be allowed to even land a single shot on an unsuspecting hauler or miner. This looks like a kind of exploit if you ask me. Some battle cruisers can tank quite well and have anough time to pop a hauler before Concord pops it. Something needs to be done in my opinion. I don't always want to travel in my freighter, most of the time I want to use my iteron 5 aswell. And rigged with cargo rigs, its a bloody expensive ship to lose in a cr@ppy manner like that...
My 2c worth.
Any comments?

Concord response is insanely fast and brutal alreday.
Try occator, tanks better. Or set courier contracts and use people who can avoid being suicide ganked or risk collateral.

call the waaaambulance!
your 2c isn't worth much in the world of terrorism.
You better go for a sheild extender or don't go afk... this is not an afk-game.

Its a pitty that one cannot travel on Auto-pilot, like designed into the game afterall, with a hauler without running the risk of being popped. Sometimes I do travel afk on AP. Especially on 30jump routes. But thanks for the hint on the extenders. I have checked on EFT and the itty5 with enough extenders should be ok, I guess. I'll do that then.

There's always a risk with everything you do in this game. As long as the suicide ganker loses the ship he uses to pop you, it's fair game. As posted before me.... there are well tanked haulers and if you don't afk-haul, the chances of you getting suicide ganked will be extremelly low.

One good solution then again would be also removing of the autopilot altogether

Edited by: Goa''uld Shanidar on 24/10/2007 12:13:05 It's your own fault. It's within game mechanics* to suicide gank, hell - i'll do it if you have a crappy t1 ship/hauler fulled to the brim with goodies.
* exception is they are using recycling alts to do so,then you can just petition them.

It's not as bad as it used to be.. Ccp should remove the insurance payout for suicided (concord killed) ships in empire. Other than that you just need to fit a good tank (plates/extenders)+resist and hope for the best.. Unless you want to travel by hand, and wtz makes you pretty safe in empire.

Ok, I'm convinced now. I'll travel in a tanked Occator and not do it afk on AP. Didn't realize it was even worse in the past... WOW

Well 350mil in a non tanked industrial is like a bank transport in a standard van. It's not safe, and a really tempting target. If you're fast enough and don't exactly drive through the slums, you might arrive in one piece..
However, better be safe than sorry. With decent skills, an IteronV can be fitted with 4x Medium Shield ExtenderII, an Invul Field II and a Damage Control II. That's for active travel. For AFK you can swap the invul and maybe an extender for one or two resistance amps.
You still pretty much rely on luck. But at least it's not a trivial task anymore.

the sueside gankers are indeed a problem but honestly i'd miss it if they didn't exist, when traveling popular suposedly "safe" places in RL there is crime as well altho the one doing it usualy get cought after alittle while, there is some simmelarirty of this in eve, the difference in how smart they are are also evident since one can get with the loot afterwards..
the problem is ofcorse if they realy are going to be alowed to sueside gank others. i have honestly no opinion on this but if you are hauling 350M worth of named loot and you are NOT using tanking modules they will come and try to kill you, if you have a strong enough tank they will die.. altho ofcorse CONCORD should be able to arive almost instantly after they opened fire on your ship..

Use a blockade runner for small stuff and fit it to wtfzoom.
You'll cover the 10km to gate (assuming you activate the MWD) in under 5 seconds a lot of the time.

Some ships, rather expensive ships, don't tank at all. Freighters.

Its a part of the game, dont afk with valuable cargo, warp to 0 and jump.
And well the insurance doesnt really matter muh, if you pop a 350mil transport you dont care about the cost of a cruiser with fitting.

You guys pullin the "look at the crybaby routine" need to grow up.
The POINT of high-sec is that its supposed to be safe. Thats why everything else is virtually no risk, and no reward there. Suicide gankers are the exception to this rule, and need to be dealt with.
One real simple solution is a HEAVY HEAVY sec status hit when you fire on anyone in high sec. I'm talkin like one suicide gank, and you can't enter highsec anymore :-P.

This is EVE. There is not 'safe space'. Even most of the Carebears realize this and plan accordingly. (Okay, maybe half )
Oh, and "Do not fly what you can't afford to lose" also applies to what's in the cargohold.
