i think that there should be a special (high)slot on some ships that RUNS DOWN THE CENTER OF THE SHIP weapons that could fit in the slot would be generaly more powerful but to fire the ship would need to be pointing directly at the target 
now only some ships would have these slots
and there would only be one ship that would have more 1and it would be specialy made for it
(please dont flame me(remember: if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all))

Another variation of the same idea...
Allow a Frigate to carry "One" Large Turret by taking up say 3 high slots.
Example. A rifter normally can carry 3 small turrets. However due to power and other contraints it is not currently possible (I don't think) to be able to mount a 1400mm howitzer or even a 720mm Howitzer on a rifter.
Understand I think this would need to take up medium and low slots to accomodate the shear size of a large weapon but I think it would give frigates new life and purpose in the game.

No matter if it takes one or three high-slot. A frigate powercore CAN'T handle such large guns.

I realize that, Thats what I was saying. I would like to see that as a option, adjust the power core settings so that players could "Customize" the setiup of the ship through power modules and such that you could allow for a frigate to handle one Large weapon.
