Please spare a thought for us poor students away from home, months at a time, who dont have their own computers.
I'm sure im not the only one who [temporarliy] has no access to a computer that has the ability to run EVE and is still paying the subscription charge? The reason? Skill progression! Players still want their character to progress even though they cant physicaly play the game.
However this presents a problem when a skill level has been completed, It is near impossible to train another (the only way beeing asking someone else who has the game to sign in for you and change the skill, is it legal for somoene else to sign in under your account?). At the moment the best solution is to have a lenghthly skill level waiting to be trained, which I start just before I leave home.
Please can you consider adding the functionality to the Web-based character info screen where you can train new skills you possess.
This would generate more revenue for CCP as less people would cancel their subscription when they go away for prolonged periods of time (perhaps to university or a long holiday) as it provides a viable way for their character to progress without needing a full install of the game.
People on a long holiday or at university who would have previously canceled their subscription for the next month(s) could instead use Internet Cafe's or their university's computers to sign in and update skill training.
The only downside I can see, is people using so called "bots" to immediately train a new skill level whenever one is completed. Giving people who own/create bots an [insignificant?] advantage.
what is everyone's thoughts? -does this only affect me

You and everybody I know have begged for this feature. I have posted it and I see it in the forums about every other day in some form.
maybe we have to post it as an idea a certain number of times before CCP will address it... "You've Got to be Nuckin Futs!!" |

What do you mean? Do you want to make the training time longer?

No - Under the Eve-Insider Section of the player website, where you can view your current skills that you posses and their current level - I want to be able to train a new skill via this web page.

Edited by: Serge Tahlon on 27/02/2004 21:19:54 i wholeheartedly agree.
i have only played for 2 days and today i have already been late for work (only 10 minutes) because i had miscalculated the train time for a skill by half an hour and had to wait in order to start the next one. see , i was clever in fitting in a 20 - 30 minute buffer :D still i was late :)
it is especially sad because i have so many skills lined up which only take 30 min to 1 hour to train (the basic ones) and i would have loved to be able to come home today and not have to wait another 30 min until i can use the cargo expanders or the survey scanner.
while many of us do have internet access at work or school, i doubt that many would be allowed to install the client.
a webinterface or smaller application (if web based is too insecure) to access the character and possibly also check the markets, check/send mail would be so so so damn cool :)
regards
serge
btw. love the game ! ~~ signatures ?! all they do is wasteing space... ~~ |
