No. CCP are still busy updating the Flying in Space portion of the game which they neglected for years while making a dolly dressup game.

Well since ccp and the summer debacle, they have realised what the players were saying for a while before, that space must come first in a spaceship game. Since we all have the ability to walk in a station now, ccp seem to be focusing their efforts on fixing things rather than major features.
I think most of us are very much looking forward to being able to leave our cells, to chill in the corp quarters or check out the tallent in a bar, but are happy to wait till its ready and play with the new space bits in the mean time :) |

It's gonna be a while before that door is opened. I seriously doubt it'll happen this year. Right now CCP is focused on fixing old issues that have plagued Eve for a long time as well as throwing in some new shiny with those fixes.
However, this thread ( https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=25586&find=unread ) is a good example of not giving up. It went through 100+ pages of having Anti WiS players (like the 2nd and 4th post in this thread) posting how WiS is nothing more than 'Barbie Dressup' and about how CCP wasn't going to do anything else with it, WiS was dead, etc.
After CCP responded and stated that WiS was not dead and will have more WiS game play content added in the future, all of a sudden the Anti WiS players quickly stopped posting.
Much to Pro WiS players delight, Team Avatar had scored their first major victory just by posting a reply in that thread. |

I do not care, what CQ haters are thinking about me, therefore i'll be honest:
When i first encountered EVE a few years ago, i was stuck at the beginning of gameplay. You remember ... the famous EVE learning curve? In addition to that i was not looking forward to identify myself with a metal brick called ship. No one i know was playing EVE. Therefore i left early.
Wenn EVE was introduced a second time to me a year ago (from a colleague), CCP just introduced the new avatar creating system into it, and there was the promise to introduce WiS. Furthermore there now are nice tutorials explaining the basics, and i at last know one RL person, who was actually playing EVE to.
I gave EVE a second try, and loved it at once as the disadvantages from the first try have disappeared, and there was the prommise of WiS.
On the other hand i fully understand and agree, that FiS should definitelly have more than 50% of care, as it is the core of the game.
As far as i know, this is the case for now.
I disagree with the demand "WiS should be dead 100%". It's like the never ending quarrels in this forum about "force others to play EVE the others want it to be".
CQ-Haters .. you are not the 100%, as we - the CQ-friendly EVE players, are not the 100%. And i'm sure, that it even is not a "99,9% to 0.1%". There will never be a 100% or "all". Even not a "nearly".
And there definitely are "some" (none of us can put a number here), who are looking forward to WiS - and get used to it: We are part of this community. Love us, hate us, but we are here, and we stay here. And you will beg in vain for our stuff
Anyway ... T L ; D R
The EVE community is versatile. We could agreee together in FiS being very important, but we surely do not agree in "WiS being unwanted". |

Guys, we should totally have FLYING in Stations! You can shipspin and fly around at the same time! It'll be like frickin' DESCENT!
Fly around, blow up other ships and wall/floor mounted turrets, solve puzzles, blow up the reactor and fly through a tunnel while everything explodes around you, and you think you're about to get engulfed in flames before you erupt out of the station and fly out into space LIKE HAN FRICKIN SOLO!!!
It'd be amazing.

Incarna was just the last in a very very long string of expansions where CCP said 'this is only the first step, there are many more iterations coming soon'. We all know how well that turned out.
Now CCP seems to be working on-fixing-finishing 'stuff' and even introducing new 'stuff'. Maybe it will take them :18 months: to get to it. Maybe sooner, but probably not anytime 'soon'.
Until then, sitting alone in a room is a great motivator for throwing yourself out an airlock and flying in space |

You're missing quite a few zero's after that 3 or 4.
The ability to have an Avatar based area of game play incorporated into EVE has been in heavy demand since the game went gold nearly 9 years ago, and apparently still is despite what the easily manipulated would have you believe.
Fortunately, there is a small team working on getting the basic plan sorted out properly this time... and a much clearer focus on prioritizing FIS content for Dev time and allocating a "sensible" amount of resources to sorting out the rest.
It should have been done like this from the start, I agree, but at least it's finally getting sorted out now. Revenge should not stop at the ship!
It's not so much a mission statement,-áit's more like a family motto. |

There WAS heavy demand for it, until the playerbase realized the horrendous cost to EVE that came with developing WiS. Now people want nothing to do with space barbies - to make any significant progress on WiS in a soonish timeframe, CCP would have to drop EVE on its ass again.
Besides, the WiS that we did get was utter crap compared to what we were told was coming. Instead of an immersive sci-fi environment, we got a closet with a TV screen. Nobody is willing to make huge sacrifices for another pile of crap. Well, maybe you and a small handful of others.

because the dream of WiS was destroyed by the reality of it's implementation.
personally I always considered WiS to be a very old meme that someone decided to take seriously one day The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

I joined EVE BECAUSE I love Scifi and because of the promise of Walking in Station
I keep playing EVE becasue I love the CURRENT Flying in Space gameplay
EVE doesnt need walking in stations to survive
But if EVE wants more than 350,000 players and have SIGNIFICANT growth, it needs to have Avatar based gameplay.

I'm just frustrated there's so many wonderful recolors of the Nex items that were made for Incarna and we still can't use, and at this rate we'll never be able to get them. I wasn't here for Incarna, glad I wasn't actually. An expansion centered around the worst microtransaction implementation I've ever seen combined with no-gameplay no-customization no-real-point CQ deserved the tepid response it got.
That doesn't mean WiS should be dead forever though - I still think a good implementation of WiS will bring a lot of people to EvE who don't want to be a spaceship. That means actual gameplay as well a robust method of customizing your quarters and toon that is only partially based on microtransaction items (the key is to remember that microtransaction items will never, ever be prestigious or desirable in their own right, and are valuable only as a baseline or accessory to items garnered in-game). I've seen good implementation of player housing in other games, EvE is most definitely not one of them. From release, EVE was promised to become the ultimate SciFi simulator and experience. At the time it was only spaceships and market, but the promise was to continuously expand on the game and add ability to interact with planets, fight on planets etc. anything and everything you would expect to see in scifi and we understood that it would take years to achieve this.
8+ years later we have already seen parts of this vision come to be, and I hope in the future all the rest becomes a reality as well.
But demanding that the game remain static as a space ship game only forever is not only counter to the original vision, but shortsighted and boring.
CCP can catch up on spaceship improvements now, then bring in the rest when it is ready.
