Privateers nerf by far. I honestly couldn't believe what I saw when reading the devblog explaining it, well CCP sure managed to disappoint me there. I even would have agreed that raising the war costs against alliances a bit would have been in order but this argghh...Well CCP it's never too late to un-nerf it even just a little :) |

The biggest and most unnecessary nerf in my opinion in my short time here (10 months) was the Privateers nerf.
Poor helpless n00b corps can do what they do now when war dec'ed, leave the corp when dec'ed and rejoin when the Dec is canceled. The only people Privateers could have attacked in a meaningful way, where alliances with a heavy empire presence.
So that is my choice as the worst nerf.
-Sig Starts- When people say "I hate the people who think a MMORPG should be played 'THEIR' way" it is usually because the MMORPG is being played "THEIR" way. THE NERF BAT COMETH! |

Edited by: Mr Ignitious on 28/10/2007 14:18:52 it seems to me privateers nerf was before my time so i have no idea what your talking about there... although i wish the 15 drones in space would come back, oooo so much fun =) or perhaps my very own nano phoon?
the bio lenght nerf was just stupid too... i mean really, why??

The CCP Nerf. It is the nerf to prevent CCP from nerfing stuff that doesn't need to be nerfed. Ie, Nos, Carriers, Ect.
Fix problems first, then worry about messing with the game and ticking people off.

Worst nerf from my view - Not sure how many subs CCP lost from that one but i know of at least 4 accounts from my corp that left over it.

The worst "nerf" in the game was to implement killmails. It nerfed PvP from being fun and excitening to killboard whoring and blob/ganking.
Apart from that, I think that every single nerf this far has been reasonable and game balance improving.
Stacking nerf should be there on damage mods and ew etc, but I think that hardeners should be unaffected tbh.
Edit: The privateer nerf was of course stupid as well and counter productive. ---

1. Privateer nerf although my corp are not privateers. 2. Nano Nerf, it killed off a lot of good hauler setups that got a standard hauler past gate camps. 3. Mod stacking in general. 4. Upcoming carrier nerf, it's really unnecessary and will cause more blobbing. 5. Drone nerf. I remember being able to field 10 drones.
The WTZ was a necessity that encouraged more people to populate lowsec and remove lag causing instas but the nano nerf killed it completely. Now, it's almost impossible to get away from a gate camp in anything less than a fast cruiser so a BS or BC going from highsec into lowsec is rare unless it has a full rack of stabs.

Well, guess someone has to say it, but none.
CCP think it's the way it should be, then they change it. That's how MMOs work and faster one learns it, the happier one can be

I can't really narrow it down to a single thing,or even a small batch of them, but in my 4+ years of playing the game,it's a general feeling that the game is seriously watered down from it's original form,in order to apppeal to more people, and lost it's edge, especially given the stupid amounts of isk that's possible to make these days, within a few weeks of starting to play it,no matter what you do in the game.
Add the much faster skill training times, since the advanced learning skills are out,and that +4 implants are dirt cheap these days, and there's no sense that skills really take a long time to train for, because the vast majority don't.
I still remember the days when you had to work for weeks(both isk wise, and training time wise),to even get into a cruiser, nevermind a battleship, wich took me over 3 months of work to even finance the first one...That gentlemen was hardcore, and truly reflected the harshness that was eve,but also made you proud to make it happen...
These days,a battleship is almost as disposable as a frigate was in the old days, and in my view, the insane amount of isk that's possible to make today, directly contributes to these massive battleship/capital ship Blobs seen in fleet operations of large aliances, wich can replace losses at will if they're well organized, and makes lag and desyncs a constant, everyday problem,no matter how much hardware is shoved into the server.
Capital ships by definition should be rare ships, and the fact that it's easier to get into a dreadnaught today,in terms of isk cost, than it was in the old days when you wanted to go from a cruiser to a battleship, and that according to a recent dev blog, there are over 10 000 capital ship pilots,is disturbing to say the least....Eve is already turning into capital ship online.

The addition of warp to zero making travel far to quick and easy. There should have just been some restriciton on BMs themselves instead of making the game even easier.

Privateers, easily. You could always find fun by getting a cheap ship and fly around shooting at them. It's difficult to find that kind of PVP in Eve these days. That was fun, huge blobs where you have 10 minute lag isn't. Miners whined a lot like they just HAD to be in the heavily trafficked systems, but it was easy to avoid them if you had half a brain.

Privs was riskiest thing around, thats why we loved it so much, ive lost 1 ship in 2 months compared to the 90 i lost in 6 months of priv and 0.0 is a sandbox as long as you play with fleet shaped buckets

Wait, what. Fun with no risk?
Skunk, I honestly cant remember how many targets we had at the same time, nevermind our PvP weekends! Can you please refresh my memory from the good days? We were constantly being hunted by several gangs from different alliances, coupled with our inability to do anything to the scout-alts which constantly followed us around when we werent flying in small groups of fast ships. It was, however, incredibly hillarius to read battlereports afterwards to see 2 different gangs trying to catch us, with their different approaches to it.
Anyway, the difference between 0.0 and empire being, that it was never a POS race in empire, stupid bubble camps didnt exist, and everyone had to go there - people who only flew in empire anyway, and people who had to get supplies.
We were constantly being chased, but we were also constantly chasing people. My god was that a blast. We could do whatever we wanted, no Killboard race, and if I found myself far away from ''home'' some day because of a hunt, well, no biggie, I still had loads of targets.
Good lord how I miss it, come to think of it ----------
