Hello
I've been playing around with my Deimos and basically have two setups that I'm fond of but I'd like some feedback from you guys that have more experience with the Deimos in small gang situations.
My main question is about the Cap Boost Injector... do I use one or do I leave it and save a precious med and fitting for Neutrons instead of Ions?
Here is the setup I'm thinking about and at the bottom the alternative without the Injector:
Highs: 5x Heavy Ion Blaster II (Void) 1x Small Nos II
Meds: 1x 10MN MWD II 1x Cap Booster (800) 1x warp disruptor
Lows: 1x DB MAR 1x DB EANM 1x EANM II 1x Armor explo hardener II 1x DCU II 1x Mag stab II
Rigs: 1x Current Router I 1x Aux Nano Pump I (or Hybrid Collision depending on mood lol)
This gives me around 580 DPS with 5x Hammerhead II and between ~81% and 92% armor resists.
On the other hand when I'm in a gang I could also drop the Injector for a Web and the EANM II for a second Mag Stab II and then I could fit 5x Neutrons instead of Ions and end up with about 700+DPS with drones only sacrificing about 5% resis (3k effective HP) and the injector.
I've played around a good while on SiSi and also TQ but can't decide whether the trade off of dropping the Injector is worth it.
Any advice? What kind of setups do you use and why?
thx for the help! |

Edited by: Ziggy Stardustt on 28/10/2007 23:48:59 Edited by: Ziggy Stardustt on 28/10/2007 23:45:48 i've never really used the injector setup due to the need to downgrade to ions.
i got a wreaking shot of about 1100dmg with 1 MFS t2 and neuts, got a x11 dmg mod. Was on armor too
Just got AWU to V, a couple of PG rigs and it'll fit tho Dont think you would need the faction stuff if you could bare to fit a pdu t2
On another note, has anyone experimented with nano's and rails?

Edited by: Stuart Price on 29/10/2007 00:12:44 Yes, on Sisi. It was amusing but short lived as a Sleipnir came along amd munched me up good and proper.
Basically, I was doing about 2.5km/s in orbit at 18km from target and could hit with 200mm rails at that range, although bear in mind I have near perfect railgun skills and was still suffering the occassional miss/glancing.
Ultimately though, if I was thinking about using it that way I'd end up slapping myself and buying an Ishtar to nano up instead. "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" |

That will probably be my setup when I buy one. I've tried it on test and it seems fine.

actually a 1600 plate gives you almost the equivalent of 2,5 minutes worth of armorepping. probably we should test this out:
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Explosive Hardener II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Faint Epsilon Warp Prohibitor I X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Heavy Ion Blaster II Heavy Ion Blaster II Heavy Ion Blaster II Heavy Ion Blaster II Heavy Ion Blaster II Small Diminishing Power System Drain I

Impossible shot with that dmg mod. Even in structure with no resists.

Do you have medium blaster spec 5? hac 5? Also i reckon you'd need the +5% dmg implant, all dmg rigs, all MFS II's in the lows. then you'd get that shot but probably not on anything but hull(raw dmg)

Deimos is allways a Tradeoff between Gank and Tank.
If you fit Scram + Web there's no place for a CapInjector and your survivability depends purely on your ability to kill the target faster, then it's killing you, DPS-wise.
With a 1600mm RT, you'll loose the ability to fit Neutrons, even with 2x PG-Rig and AWU LvL 5. But it's giving you 118sec compared to a MAR II.
Best advice I can give you is either having a buddy alongside, who's fielding a web, or you have to pick on slower targets, which are no problem without a web.
I go for the second variant, as a CapBooster + Neutrons is serving me best so far.
High: 5x Heavy Neutron II (Void/Null), Small Dim NOS Med: 10MN MWD II, Med Electro CapInjector (800er), 20km Scram Low: MAR II, DCU II, Energized Reactive II, EANM II, 2x MFS II Rigs: 2x Anciliary Current Router
Drones: 5x Hammerhead II .

Edited by: Grimpak on 29/10/2007 11:05:48 considering the following about the deimos:
- it relies heavily in a sub 10km range gun; - it needs a web to keep the target pinned down; - it is not a very mobile HAC; - it has a very high damage potential (highest of all HAC's); - it cannot tank that well.
I can say that the deimos is better suited as the heavy hitter of a fast gang, meaning, go full neutrons with 3 MFS, a med repper, DCU, expl hardener or EANM 2. meds would be mwd, t2 scram and web rack of neutrons.
rigs.. well maybe either cap recharge or grid ones.
oh and use med ECM drones. life savers they are.
deimos is not a solo machine, nor is a very tanky ship. it's designed to dish out the most damage in the shortest time possible. work on that role. ---
planetary interaction idea! |
