Originally by: Akita T Would they have an actual pricetag somewhere in between, there would be no big complaining. Yet they are set up so they will cost more but perform... well, not worse necessarily, but not better at all, not where it might matter.
See the problem? If performance is going to be T1 >>> T2 >>> faction, why is the price scaling T1 >>> Faction >>> T2?
The supply/demand for faction ships got messed up thanks to the LP store. CNRs are hence cheaper than the T2 version, however the Rattlesnakes/Bhaalgorns/Nightmares are still more expensive. Other faction ships are cheaper because the demand is low.
Modules show the right order as well for the price scaling. So just because people don't want to pay a premium for a faction ship (Machariel/Navy Tempest) doesn't mean that the T2 BS should be cheap. After all T2 is about diminishing returns, both in cost and skill time.
Its just the problem if you can get something with more bang for the buck you are not going to bother with the new TII bs and go straight for the faction ships.. So there is not real point in either the TII bs itself or the intended manufacturing cost. The Golem for example. Right now its not quite as good for PVE than (or as good as?:) the CNR. So either the Golem should be the mission boat for low skill players and the next logical step up from the Raven till they can afford the CNR or it must outclass the CNR in PVE. If its easyer to get a CNR in the first place no sane mission runner is going to bother with the Golem.

Also im not happy with the new implant sets. I was really looking forward to get me the scanning implant. But the Low-Grade Set will cost me arround 2,5bil in lp and isk which is just not worth the isk. And i really wonder who is goin to buy such expensive pieces of hardwiring... I mean i dont mind spending 2bil on a Dread but on a Implant Set that gives you a 20% or something boost to scann strenght?

Marauders were not supposed to be mission running oriented. They were supposed to be self sufficient deep in unfriendly space, hence the large cargobay and room for ratting gear. As the dev blog stated that was a nice boost to its mission running ability.
So you would take an 800+ mil costing battleship to rat in unfriendly space?
especially if you just could get domi (60-70mil) and forget about ammo all the way while still doing good dps.

Originally by: Sheriff Jones Akita, if you had said, in the original post, in a more clear way "new ships are too expensive", i would've been inclined to agree.
The ISK costs on some things are a bit ridiculous.
But the initial post, atleast to me, seemed like a "the upcoming ships are useless" post.
So maybe a clarification won't hurt here?
Are you saying the new ships are bad, or that the price for them is not as it should?
but many of them are quite useless and dont serve any purpose other than being stuff or a light upgrade from t1 for low sp players (who cant fly them because they need a huge sp investement:)

That is an issue i think i made my views clear on already.
They aren't exactly useless, just not necessarily better then the previous ships.
Also i'd wait and see what people come up with them, and the long term uses. Might be surprised of the intuitive ways of the POD pilots.
In a nutshell atleast.
so then, they wont be used in all areas where there is a better/similar /cheaper ship allready and that covers almost all aspects of PVE.. Just remains to be seen if there is really a role they can fill other than instapop cruisers with torps (Golem) and tractoring like hell (all marauders). Im not sure about the other new ships.. im not to interested in them..

i dont care about rl stuff and real world military evolution. i care about shipstats and roles that are of use to ME. marauders are not usefull for me thus i complain. for all roles a marauder can fulfill i have a better cheaper alternative except for tractoring up to 40k. so i give a **** about evolution and hidden niche roles they maybe could fill. i want a well designed marauder that gives me a time advanteage while doing pve in form of faster killing to make eve's pathetic pve content more bearable.

Now that you put it in such crass words, maybe underpowered but versatile really isn't such a bad way to go. So all that remains is reducing the price, fixing the Paladin, and maybe nerfing Kronos a bit. (Yes yes, I said it, nerf for balance...sigh.)
Reducing the price and drasticaly lower the skillreq would be def a way to go if the bonuses stay as they are.

Even if you got your 300-600mill state issue raven, would that make your PvE more bearable? Are you shooting for a certain isk amount, and stop missioning, stop "suffering the pain", when you reach it? Is that really all CCP should design the Marauders for, to reduce the time you have to suffer missioning?
Yeah it would, i could go back to more interesting stuff earlyer.
