Unlike most other MMOs out there, EVE has no end-game content, as it has no end-game. Sure, biggest thing you can fly is a Titan, at least for now, but that¦s not the end of the game. There is no best in EVE, only different and more or less effective. Everything you have, can be matched by something else.
Quote: veteran players (mission runners for example) already have billions of ISK and SP, they'll get their marauders for example pretty fast and make more ISK even faster...
True, but so did all the level 60's in WOW when Burning Crusade was released. A new player then would not even reach level 50 by the time the first ones hit level 70. But then they got capped at 70 and the newer ones caught up. That¦s exactly what will happen in EVE, but in a very different way. Yes, some people can buy the Marauder skill straight off the market and within a matter of hours take their chosen ship out for a spin. However, most of them have the knowledge to keep their ship alive for more than 5 seconds. And they can only train the skill to level 5, after that they get no better than you or me.
The way to keep new players in the game, is to show them what¦s in store for them, once they get good enough, just like in every other game out there. Again, in WOW you have 70¦s running around IronForge and Orgrimmar, showing off to all the lowbies. Lowbies inspect them, look at the stats on their gear and go "ooooh, shiny, me want". And then they work for it. Learn the game, learn their chosen class, learn what to do and not to do in a combat situation. And level up. That¦s exactly what you should do in EVE too. Look at what other people have. Aim for something. Learn the game, make the money, do not rush yourself more than needed. Although in experience-based games you can power-level and THEN learn how to do stuff (people like that are commonly known as noobs), the mechanics in EVE prevent you from getting ahead of yourself too much. You can only level up so fast, which helps you actually learn something before you put your pod into that Erebus.
It is very easy to start a character, make money, train straight for a Marauder and actually have both skillbook AND ship waiting for you before you are ready to train the skill. You do not need to wait 3 years to do it. But I promise you; rush yourself into the big toys and you will end up like you said yourself: 10M ISK ship gone in 30 seconds without even being able to fire of a single shell. same with a 50M isk ship or a 5billion ship...
