Originally by: An Anarchyyt Anyway, I'd rather not talk about this stuff, as I have to deal with it daily (Such is the folly of living near Kodak).
Agree entirely, my knowledge of response curve/dynamic ranges of different media comes from having to spend 6 months meticulously measuring them for my last job as a molecular biology lab manager, an extremely precise and tedious process, best left far behind me :p
That kind of stuff really has nothing to do with taking great photographs anyway.
I'm currently doing a lot of black and white film work, not done any for about 15 years, so I'm enjoying re-learning that side of it all again, although I have to admit my first reaction when I take a fresh print out of the darkroom is often "Hmm, I'll just fire up Photoshop and get rid of that dust...".
Holgas and LOMOs annoy me a bit, simply because they're so expensive for what they are. I've got an old 120 camera in the loft, Russian, bought it about 20 years ago for ú10. I'll dig it out later, see what make it was, maybe get some film :)

It doesn't work for dust, but there's a nice little chemical that fixes black spots on the print by reducing them.
I think by the far the most expensive of my old cameras, not counting large format lenses, was only $25. And it is a Kodak Folding Camera from the WW1 Years. Paying any more than that just seems ridiculous, you can always just build a shoebox camera.
I enjoyed working in England, I've been planning on setting up shop there sometime within then ext year or two. But for the meantime, right now I have access to my own darkroom, get to teach plenty of people the correct way, and have a goodly amount of chemicals.
And speaking of science and photos, we have this nice Bernice Abbott exhibit up, it is only like 5 or 6 pictures, but it is nice.

I love astrophotography. I just don't have a good telescope to use right now. I have a really old 19th century observatory to use, but that is about all.
And the day I learned about how to hyper film to make it super sensative was the greatest day of my life.

Original images are very large and taken in .raw format, processed and saved as .jpg files.
Very nice, especially like Orion. Can you get planet shots or am I being stupid? :)

If you don't mind saying, how do you connect the camera to the telescope? Is there some special adapter you need to get or something? I have an Eos 30d, a variety of telephoto lenses, and a telescope (not sure on the exact model, no access to it at the moment. What do I need to do to connect it all together (well, other than lens on camera, I do know how to do that)

Camera adapters can be found here or here You will also need a 'T' ring to suit the make of camera you use.

You can have the piles of Technidol I have laying around then. I have read you can also do something similar to hypering with some sort of amonia mixture, but I've never gotten to try it.
I need a new telescope. I have access to an observatory, unfortunatly, the only thing that is interesting about the observatory is that the telescope hasn't been updated since about 1890.
