Last rumor was they will be out around after shiva stage hits.
I have also heard rumors that they will have a base cost of 1trillion trit and it will go down from there in terms of minerals needed, although this seems hardly believable.

The chronicle on them says they are moon sized. I can see the large amount of Trit.

Can I make about 40 orders?
Titans are massive, the Amarr one alone is as big as some stations.
They will cost far more then any player owned station, and only a few top corporations will own one.
300m is not even a beginning for the cost of tritanium..

They'll never be here. Use a battleship to mine with. Hell Tech 2 cruisers/battleships aren't even out yet. Titans are tech level 3

I think the more accurate statement is that they are slated for release when tech level 4 comes out.

from what i have seen ccp are quite good at running eve...if they have said they will be available then they will. they are obviously choosing to introduce them when they feel the time is right. evidently they dont feel that now is a good time for titan to be ingame.

Just mentioning Titan in corp chat is grounds for me to threaten to add the offender to a kill on sight list for starting a long and pointless conversation about how a titan will have 200 mega turrets , the capacity to hold an entire fleet of battleships and be able to strip a fully grown belt with 100km roids in a matter of minutes.

forget mining asteroid belts with a titan.... i bet we will be able to mine moons by the time titans come in... just like in the eve chronicle how they strip mined a moon for the resources to build the sucker.

Well I see you guys/girls are talking about trit amount needed for building Titans. I would think it follows the frig/cruiser/battleship/(then titan) trit needed base as in:
LvL 3 frigs need avrage: 20.400 units of trit
28*frigs-trit-needed==>cruisers-trit-needed
LvL 3 cruisers need avrage: 575k units of trit
13*cruiser-trit-needed==>battleship-trit-needed
LvL 2 battleships need avrage: 7.600k units of trit
X*battleship-trit-needed==>titan-trit-needed
I would estimate X to be some were between 15 to 30 so you'll be needing around:
114M to 228 units of trit to build a Titan
But by the time they get around we'll be using named lvl 3 miner's so it woun't be a biggie :)

well yeah obviously except that mining would then involve trying to find the hidden belts that haven't been strip mined out of existance by carebear titan manufacturing strip mining mega fleets

I have a theory I have posted more than once and more than twice around these forums. Gonna post it once more...
So. We know that now we are in the beginning phase of Tech Level 2. We are starting to see Elite Frigates. Good. Now, we know that there are 3 more Tech Levels to come - Tech Levels 3, 4 and 5. We also know that there are 3 types of ships yet to appear: Elite Cruisers, Elite Battleships and Titans. Doubt we'll ever see Elite Titans though. Now, if we do a little bit of thinking, it would make sense that...
Since Tech Level 2 brought Elite Frigates...
Tech Level 3 might bring Elite Cruisers,
Tech Level 4 might bring Elite Battleships,
and Tech Level 5 could bring Titans!
Now wouldn't that make a lot of sense? It's exactly how I think a dev would think. Give them bigger and bigger toys as the game progresses to keep them interested.
Now, if you look at that theory and compare it to the time frame the devs have hinted at for appliance of new Tech Levels, and add 2+2, you'll see that:
Time till Titans become available = A VERY long time. Think early 2006.

Heavy industries first, and that will arrive 1 patch after shiva, and then maybe after that, and 200m trit aint enough L warp disrupting fields go at 50m in Mineral cost only, and that is just the first stage of deployebles and a Titan will require LOTS more than a deployble!

Titans arn't considered a tech level...their considered a reasonable THREAT level. Ahahaa...ha...oh come on, it's a bit funny..

Umm...... if yall are talking about the minerals need to make a titan, then in the manual it says,"Titans start at twice the size of battleships and increase from there." So my guess would be 2 to 4 times the amount of minerals needed for a bs.  Just a thought.

Hehe, I certainly hope it won't be that long. As for Elite Cruisers being Tech 3, I'm thinking that isn't the case, since CCP has announced that they are already being developed.

The Titans will be T1 stuff as everything starts at that lvl.
You'll need bs lvl4 to fly one but lotsa more skills to build one. (not to mention the time and that you have to built it in space - security alert)
They will be in-game after/when player build stations are in and they will be a hell of a expensive toy + we need the jumpgate equipment to use titans as they cant use normal jumpgates nor dock at stations.

If they cannot dock at stations then how can they fit items? Perhaps only dock at the biggest stations but there has to be some way to fit weapons and other items to the Titen.

I saw pic of a docked Titan on Chaos and you couldnt see much of it as its far too big and the dev's/bh's said he wont be able to dock so i guess you have to use something like indies or maybe cargo drones to dumps the cargo into stations.
For refit: You maybe need a 'spacedock' to build a titan in space so you should be able to use it to fit weapons/equipment - Logical, isnt it?

mega indy, 50 mil
cruiser carrier, 100 mil
gunplatform (uberslow), 400 mil
bs carrier, 500 mil
mothership, 1.2 bil
extra mothership services, first 2 free, more = 300 mil each
jumpdrives = titan restricted
