So I found this site that lets you compare the actual size of many different sci-fi ships and thought I would share it with everyone.
I know this will probably get locked instantly but since there is no "Pilot's Lounge" or other such folder for non-eve topics I just had to share this because I think if you are playing this game you are probably moderately interested in sci-fi ships.
OH! Just thought of some Eve content! Since CCP has some more web developers and I am sure they are putting the finishing touches on the forum search feature, perhaps they could make the ship database more like this site. Or maybe a different section that simply lets you compare everything in eve from ships to gates to stations. :-)

rofl.. I knew Macross would win that fight. After they first started describing the size of the home base in the tv series my jaw dropped.
SHIP NAME/TYPE: Zentraedi Fulbtzs Berrentzs class Home Base HEIGHT: 1400 km. This height is significant in that it reflects the length of the Japanese Isles. BUILDER/COMMENTS: Built by Zentraedi, under Supreme Commander Dolza. This is the version of the Zentraedi Mobile Command Base that appears in the television series. The Death Star was the size of a moon, remember? So we're talking somewhere in the thousand-kilometre range.

It's the size of a small-medium sized moon.
I was bored, so I found some satellite diameters.

ROBOTECH was the best. People DIED in that show. Earth got blown to hell. Great stuff.

Great site, I didn't know the Defiant was such a small ship, hell the NX-01 was nearly twice its length.

afaik battleships in EVE are around 700m ish or something. I remember I saw somewhere a mega spec saying it was 687m. Don't know about the apoc tho.
About titans, Im guesstimating that they are around 10 Km. _______________________________________________

For those who are interested, I managed to find the old ship database, which still exists on the server.
It has old data pages for about half of the ships, including their dimentions, mass, and crew size.
Check my sig for the link.

Seems the number of pages on a thread is broken for the first couple of posts past the page limit. When viewing the thread, seems the board displays it correctly...

What about all those "NERDS" who have too much time setting up fantasy <insert favorite sports game here> leagues? or what about all the "NERDS" who have too much time piecing together thousands of pieces puzzles, or people who make scale models of navy battleships, etc. Moral of the story is, it is a hobby, if everyone was to do something 100% productive all the time, then the world would be a perfet place, but not very fun to live in.

My point exactly! I have to assume if you play eve you have a healthy interest in sci-fi if nothing else heh. Ya know, even better than just the info and stuff on this site is the fact that you can drag any of the objects to directly compare them heh. It is really interesting to put something like the Hindenburg next to the ships on the 1x page.
We really should have something like that on the Eve site :-) Maybe I can convince the maker to put the Eve ships on there if I could find good clean side-profile images of them....

I can name some bigger... erm... well habitats. They are both basically Dyson Spheres. One is the dyson sphere from a star trek episode, and is the smaller of the two. The other is from the Uplift series of books, and is simply staggeringly huge. If you don't know, a Dyson sphere completely surrounds a sun. The one in the uplift series was inhabitted by trillians of enlightened (read: old, bored and lazy) beings.

Eek... Tempest 1km long.
I'm going to have to park a shuttle next to one, I swear the dimensions wont be right. Then again, the battleship sizes did get a nerf at one point.
Tempest doesn't feel as big as a star destroyer thats for sure (not the imperial class SD as shown on this guys site, but the smaller main SD which was only about 700m long) ___________________________________________ Join in the NEW Sci-Fi Quiz |

Edited by: Kyt Kraiten on 02/03/2004 16:30:56 titans are not around 10KM, more around 2KM. they're fairly small compared to the big ships of other sci-fi universes (way bigger than star trek though). i would hope CCP would release proper dimensions on all ships and makes it completely up-to-scale in-game. that way people could put us on pics like that aswell. i saw some 3d comparisons of star trek, star wars, babylon 5 and farscape in terms of shipsizes, farscape totally outsized the competition. wish we'd have such 3d render comparisons of eve and other universes.
