Ok, so I've been given the following as deffinition for what the nano prefix (attached to a ship moniker) means:
"Nano-modules and Snake Fittings, all geared towards speed"
Now my question then becomes: What specific modules constitute this speed-based nano... theme? Any module with the word nano in it, or specific ones?

Oh, and maxed navigation skills.
I think that's pretty much it.
OMG I HAD ANOTHER THOUGHT EDIT: The term "NanoShip" comes from when Nanofibers were the only module worth fitting in order to gain a speed boost. Since then things have changed a lot but the term hasn't, because by then it was already in common use.

Nanofiber Internal Structure is the most important one, as it decreases your mass and so gives you a bigger boost from your microwarp drive. Overdrive Injectors likewise boost your speed, and Inertial Stabilizers can be helpful for maneuverability. Likewise, you got rigs that do the same things (the mass reduction rigs being the ones really preferred, from what I'm told).

Currently, it seems like you're better off going with up to three Overdrives before touching Nanofibers.
Polycarbon Engine Housing is the rig to reduce mass.

Asestorian has it right...
Historically nanoed refers to Nanofibre Internal Structures that if I remember correctly, increased speed by upto 30 m/s, reduced mass and increaded agility at the cost of structure hp before they got 'balanced' to just reduce mass.
They were abused back then and the term has stuck to this day, but currently means anything affecting the overall speed and agility of the ship.
