Well, usually, the profits i make on the items i do sell is enough to keep buying :), but i rarely have iskies to spend. I could afford now a 90 day GTC just because i had a lot of arbalest cruise missile launchers in my hangar, bought them at a nice price, now they r selling at twice the price i bought them because of the torp nerf .

I am my Main.
I've been playing this game for barely over 10 months now and my net worth is just under 25 billion. I don't know how good that is comapred to some of you PROs, but long ago I left this Market Thread becasue i think 99.99% of the information here is lame (there is one thread I give to all market candidates though). I also think that anyone who talks about 'market pvp' is lame...these are guns you're selling...fire one! If you consider yourself a 'market PvPer' and can explain in the 10s of Billions why I should care...feel free..likely those people are not reading these stupid threads anyway. AND, the only reason I'm making this post is that I hate Trinity sooooooo much (and other RL issues) I may be leaving the game, so I'm poking around some old watering holes.

Sir, as i poined out in another thread, why do you assume we never pvp? Im a carebear. But im a pirate too. I shoot stuff day in and day out.
I also happen to know that alot of the people in here, who seem to be carebears, ACTUALLY have pvp mains.

I think you have never figured out where the real power in this game is. Besides that I think you totally misjudge the readership of this forum - so I will list some of the alliances frequenting here: BoB, Goonswarm, Pandemic, Veto, KIA, FIX, Pure, Insurgency, and many others too many to name. Many of the top PvP'ers in this game frequent this MD forum, and many are active investors, and some control trade of entire regions. On any given day the people that read this MD forum control at least half the isk in this game.
BTW this is the last place to come looking for sympathy. |

And i hear that Shardale is the current incarnation of god. But as you say, theres no sympathy to get from him. I think its because someone ****ed on his orders this morning when he woke up. You listed a good part of the current people who surf the forums. Just look at the people behind Ebank, we have people from Veto(Me), KIA, Insurgency, DnL, NPC Corp And Zzz. And im sure theres lots other which i forgot to say.
But we also in the MD forums have pirates from TAS(The black rabbits), which is worthwhile mentioning.
But the market discussion forum is the most diverse forum you will see. We have people with different political backgrounds, who can cooperate beyond silly politics as we see it in the CAOD. And its the most serious forum. Its the one i enjoy posting on the most.

Well billions is not said... the highest I saw was 800mil a day.
How you do that? With isk my friend, alot of it. Isk makes Isk.
(if the ratio of total isk/isk a day would be a straight rising line, the isk/day limit is where that line goes down. It is upto a good trader to keep that line at least horizontal.) ----------------- Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. sometimes i will go weeks without earning any ISK, but when i do, it can be from 100M to 1BN or so, in just a couple of hours. but those two hours of work, will only occur because of some work done, perhaps weeks or months ago, so really not possible to give a daily figure.

I am skeptical of most claims. People usually underestimate the amount of work they actually put in (hours spent hauling and such), and overestimate profit margins - in any case whats often mentioned is a vastly above average intake from some lucky day they had way back when.
There are some posters here who, given what I know of their operations, are likely pulling that kind of ISK.
This is the internet, and lots of folk have epeens to hold up.
Still, most folk can make a billion per day with sufficient capital and willingness to spend a lot of time hauling. So let me clarify my above skepticism to be directed at more the correlation of effort to ISK than ISK income itself...

Indeed, many people will say they make a billion per day... but yet they dont have 100+ billion even tho they have played for years. So obviously they do not.
I consider the money I make per day to include money I spend on things. I have recorded the money I have in my wallet, escrow, and non-liquid assets twice a day for 500+ days now. I take the total I have now, minus the total I had then, divide by days and I get the money per day I made on average. I then do the same for the past month to see how I'm doing recently.
I have not ever given the number out and I don't know if I ever will. But I am quite happy with it.

Well, you sir, would be one of the few I do believe. Your post further confirms it, and until the average trader stops guesstimating, they won't actually know the real state of their income.
I too have kept daily tallies in excel of my total value on alts. That combined with my actual timing of daily updates (not done regularly by any means) gives me a very good feel for increased value per day. Averaged over the last few weeks, I can get a average increase in value for each day.
Unfortunately I havent spent time developing the tools to automate the process, which is embarassing as I am a programmer by trade and am currently doing webdev involving PhP doing graphed reports. So what few stats I keep are done by hand. Sigh. I should just look at EMMA given it sounds like it already does the sort of things I was going to write tools to track.
EDIT: woops! wrong alt. Oh well. Lets pretend this was Taince posting...

I do it by hand as well and was also thinking of trying out EMMA. Even if I got it working I'd still use my excel version which I do by hand as it has 500+ days recorded already.
I am thinking of posting the results for my alt in detail. Just to give people an example of what some people do. I do very basic trading on my alt, trying out what I expect to be low income but low maintenance trading. It has indeed been very low income, compared to the items and way I trade on my main.
The best part is the graphs excel keeps up to date for me. I just love graphs

Its not THAT hard to make 1bill/da, if the conditions are right.
Remember the rorqual patch? Mhhmmm. Stupidity long live. Increased my(CAP4U) wallet by 1+ bill inside 2 hours after DT
But if you have 28 battleship blueprints, its not impossible to make 1bill/day.
But i doubt that anybody can make 1bill/day for an extented period.

Being able to earn 1 billion in a day every time there is a major patch doesn't mean much. The question of this thread is how much you earn on an average day, at least to me it is. 1 billion one day and 50 mil a day for the next 89 days is not too impressive. 100 million every day for 90 days is far more impressive.
Of course it is much more likely to make 200 mil one day, 50 mil the next, 150 the next, 75 the next, lose 50 the next, make 500 the next, etc. At least from personal experience. Only the dips and gains are FAR larger. As much as 3-4 billion in each direction some days. The only way to truly know an average is to keep track of your total isk every day for a long period of time.

I made just shy of 2.5 billion ISK yesterday telling people to send me money and I'd send them 10x back in jita. I'm still getting EVE mails asking me if their money is on the way.
Most other days I'm losing money because I build expensive ships and I crash them into bullets.
I don't really like to spend a whole lot of time grinding for money so most the time it's borrowing from gullible people and it's mostly burst income.
During the RHCRP scam for example, I made 4 billion in a span of about 7 days, then a month later I made roughly 39 billion in the span of about 4 days. This isn't 100% accurate but it's really close.
So depending on how you look at it, it was either 43 billion over a month and a half-ish, or 43 billion transferred in under 2 weeks.
Oh, and I just made a killing off of raptors, bought up a gazillion of them pre-patch and after patch they practically tripled in price. I still have some stock left because I personally like to fly them, but that netted close to 5 billion.
I'd say in anyone's situation it's rather difficult to assess how much you make "per day."
Averaging out your income in that format doesn't really make a lot of sense, it just simply doesn't work like that for most of these things.

As a scammer, no it wouldn't work out as well. But it would still tell you how much you've made averaged across your entire play time. Sure it comes in bursts but it still shows how good you are compared to others in the long haul. But making money doesn't mean much if you lose it all. I consider money made to be money that I still have. Anything I spend is money lost, unless it is a fixed asset that has value and that I have not lost.
As to the raptors, most places they have gone up 50-100%. Perhaps you bought them cheaper somewhere, but the market value hasn't tripled really.

Not that it really matters, but, I got most of mine at 4.0-4.5mil and when I sold off the majority of them the lowest i was getting was 11 mil.
So it's not exactly triple but, y'know, rounded.

You are correct in that it doesnt really work for irregular scamming to pay for high expenses of PvP. However, this is the trade forum and the question is therefore directed at people who do trading.
For anyone who trades regularly, its useful to know effort(time)/profit(isk) ratios. Since as Shadarle pointed out, there can be a fair bit of variance over small timeframes, it you need to average it over a longer period to find any useful information.
Basically I what I want to know is: I put in <x> minutes per day doing my 'ISK making thing', and I'd like to know how much that increases my wealth*. Obviously that question doesnt make sense for any given day because I cant predict the daily fluctuations, but I can work off an average for the last few weeks.
* i dont do economics of any sort, and am using the term wealth to mean ISK in wallet + ISK on markets + approximate (immediate) resale value of everything owned by the character.

Yeah, no, hur dur. It wasn't like I mentioned trading raptors in my post. Good job though, with the reading comprehension. Dolt. I guess you missed it because you were too busy trying to tell me I can't post here.
Even if you ignore all my other activities, people that make large purchases on items that are going to have price shifts or any other market predictions, (which by the way, is in fact trading, and you can do it very frequently) it's still rather difficult to assess how much of that was really "daily."
Yes, anyone can average how much money they made over a period of time, but as Shadarle is saying, It's an up and down thing. Doesn't really show much at all, just kind of a way for people to come here and flaunt really big numbers.
If you want a thread with actual decent content that is relatively similar to this topic, pop on over here.
