What would be a good BS to start with?(never drove BS¦s before..I know its a totally different monster then its predecesors).I heard Dom is nice(but looks like a hmm, shoe upsidedown, but well cant have everything).Im usually looking for diversity rather then sheer firepower and rely totally on others. Not asking to be a solo-pwnage but a decent over-all BS.

I agree with Eneroth. Armageddon is a great starter ship. I has the ability to mine very fast and it's also a good npc hunter. I can also recommend it for agent missions as you'll have a nice cargohold and you can still dish out very high damage even with mwd fitted for travelling.

Armageddon is very nice, it does have serious limitations in PVP due to lack of midslots but with correct use of lowslots it can be remedied mostly. For mining and NPC hunting it is the best tier 1 battleship.
The Dominix is the most versatile indeed with it slot layout, it also looks really really good, if I happen to be flying mine I mostly spend the time orbiting it with my camera drone

Typhoon is a very good BS to start out in. Its tier 1 so its cheap and its has good firepower usefull for both pvp and npc.
Also its not as common as others which is a nice little bonus.

mmm, dont agree.
Typhoon takes alot of skills to be good, also only has 4 turrets, makes mining and NPCing harder.
Id say go for the arma, or the dom.

I think a Typhoon is a good BS to start with, it has everything u want to try out, dronespace missile hardpoints and turret hardpoints, and its quite fast too.
But if u look for a good mining ship, its useless.

The Typhoon is a good BS for NPC hunting and PvP, but it also require a lot of skill investment in drones, gunnery, and missiles, while you can just rain gunnery in an Arma. And it's one of the worst tier1 BS at mining. If you already have those skills, go for the Typhoon, otherwise you might not want to wait, then go for a Dominix or an Arma.

Dominix, imo, is the best "first battleship." Armageddon just is too limited in the medium slots for versatility . . .

but not everyone goes for the shield option.

Armor tanking is an advanced tactic heh, we're talking about someone's "first" battleship. Trust me, most people who are thinking about their first battleship have nowhere near the skills required for effective armor tanking.
not to mention that the dominix could also be a very effective armor tank as well. not all medium slots need to be used for shielding.

This question is rather irrelevant.
Decide which tier 2 BS you want, what kind of weapons you want...
Then train skills towards that and get the tier 1 BS of that race.
No point in going for a Typhoon first if you want an Apocalypse after that.
Then you've totally wasted all the skill points you've trained in minmatar ships, projectile weapons and missiles.

the dom is most likely the safest BS whit all its low slots, it is also cheap, think therefor it might be very good for new BS pilots.

Best starter BS is the megathron. Expensive but good.

yea but its expensive :P that in itself is crappy for starters...what if they lose it cause of not knowing stuff, not having skills etc

go with the armageddon, its a very good ship for both mining and npc hunting. Not many ppl use it in pvp, but its still a decent support ship. You need pretty good skills to be able to tank armor though. Dominix is also a good ship for mining and npc hunting, but arma has a slight advantage, it dont need ammo, and u can fit one more mining laser on it. And of course, its the best looking battleship in the game!

Geddon was my first. It lets you mine pretty quickly so you can recover from the expense of buying it at first. Later on it's a decent npc hunter and until cap relays get fixed, it's also a very flexible ship with awesome re-charge rate. Definitely not recommended for solo pvp though.

if yer gonna pvp, get a scorpion and shield tank it out. you can get some really good experiance and hopefully not die. (you will be really hard to kill, and also not dishing out much damage, so a low priority target).

If you can use a Bellicose or a Rupture to its full potential, you can surely use a Typhoon, which is basically a scaled up version of the same ship theme.
This said, an Armaggedon or Dominix makes the best starter BS.

VERY good point.
It's the logical progression pretty much.
Tempest is expensive.
