i got very tired of grinding missions in my caracal and i already have good skills in gunnery so i tried to do some mishes in a thorax. i fitted small blasters, armour tank and a web + MWD. i realised now that most missions are in deadspace so i can't use mwd there (why is that? makes no sense..) so i am stuck with an afterburner, and with an afterburner my speed is like 400m/s and i have to travel SOOOOO far to reach my targets because the blaster range is so short.
should i put rails on my thorax then? will i have problems tracking ships with them? i have motion tracking lvl4.
or maybe i should try another ship? maybe the rupture? will artys do good on it for mishes?
can someone advise me here or give me some tips please?

You should be using Medium Blasters or Rails on a thorax. A vexor is nice for missions if you range with some Drone Link Augmentors.
I use to do L2's in a Thorax and I used blasters though Railguns make a lot more sense. My recommendation is to try both, see which fits your playing style more and have fun with it! Hope I helped.

im doing lvl 2 mishes, so why would i put medium stuff on it?
and to heck with drones.. i'm not skilling up that eww

Long story short...
Med guns vs cruisers in lvl 2 missions rock. Also, Thorax gets bonus to med guns.
Also, Drones ad a tone of DPS to your ship (even a Thorax). It doesnt take more than a week to get a good increade in the effectiveness of drones.

Both Vexor and Tjorax are fitted the same way - Dual 150mm for lvl2 misions.
I personaly prefer vexor, cuz it has more damage. Doing missions with Thorax you have an MWD bonus, which is useless. But if you insist - 1600mm Plate(in your case it will be 800mm, i suppose), med armor rep, 2 active resists and a MFS(may be cap power relay if you need more capacitor).
Won't have any probs with lvl2 and could do easier lvl3 also.

Don't put plates on a PvE setup. I used a setup like this on my Thorax when I ran level 2s.
5x 150mm or 200mm rails w/Iridium and Antimatter
1x AB
2x Cap Recharger
1x Magnetic Field Stabilizer
2x Rat Specific Energized Platings or Active Hardeners
1x Damage Control Unit
1x Medium Armor Repair
The Vexor is also a good mission ship.

Do you realize that dual railguns suck dead hogs' balls? They don't get that much more damage than their single variants, have poor tracking and their sig resolution is cruiser-sized, and their sole advantage over their single variants is a sliver more DPS.
Also, plates = usually useless for PvE, seeing as the only thing that counts is how much incoming damage you can repair/negate. Go for full resist mods.
I personally went with this oh-so-long ago (though the Vexor probably is the better option)
4x 200mm railguns w/ iridium
150mm railgun w/ iron (upgrade to 200mm ASAP)
Afterburner
2x cap rechargers
MAR
DCU
3x active armor hardeners.
