Many of the people that regularly log on Sisi may have noticed frequent questions like:
"Is the overview bugged? I can‘t resize it!" "Why are locked targets under the overview?" "Why do all info windows use the same window?" "Why can‘t I move all the overview windows together?"
This post is an effort to bring everyone up to speed on the new UI features and provide feedback to the designers.
Shift is your friend The shift button works wonders in the new UI, you can shift+drag, shift+click or even drag, hold then hit shift to snap the windows into the same formation. Shift+click on the pin/unpin makes all the windows in that stack be affected by that one click, shift+drag on the border of an unpinned or unlocked stack of windows does the same. Shift+drag or drag, hold+shift can be used to move stacks of windows together or move one and then snap all the other ones into place in the same spots an they were before in relation to the one that was moved.
CTRL isn‘t bad either If you only want to modify the windows grouped below the one you are resizing or moving you can use CTRL in the same way as SHIFT. All windows below the one you are modifying will be affected instead of the whole stack. If you lose a window outside your screen area you should be able to bring it back using CTRL+TAB to select it, it will then pop back into view. If that doesn‘t work then there is always the „Reset to default window positions“ in the ESC menu.
When in doubt, right click There are new options for some windows in the new UI, some of them are for the new Eve Voice fleet integration and some are for the new drone settings. The most important one is undoubtedly the new target lineup icon which can be right clicked to lock it in place and to choose how many targets you want in each line, I engourage everyone to try this out. The little target lineup icon can be found right next to your first locked target.
Remembering the good things All window positions and settings are now saved through relog and session changes, even switching between resolutions on the fly should never result in unexpected window positions. In the previous version of the UI TAB would refresh the overview by minimizing it, in the new UI the TAB key minimizes all open windows (not modal windows) and maximizes them again unless one of them has changed states in between. This allows you to quickly switch between different view modes, minimize everything, double click select windows that you want to keep an eye on.
If at first you don‘t succed... If the option you are looking for is not available through right clicking then try the General Settings menu. Some options previously available there have been moved to right clicking and some have been moved to there, an example is „show time stamp in chat“ which is now a right click option while „lock windows when pinned“ is in the Esc menu. If something unexpected happens you can always reset your windows to their default settings through the „Reset settings“ tab there as well.
Feel free to post your own ideas and thoughts on the new UI, I‘ll be reading this thread every day to keep everyone up to date on whatever changes that are made.
