Now I can finally stop using Windows to play eve online. Now I just have to get it to work with Gentoo Linux. ---- Sign has been stolen by ugly dwarf from a unknown solar system. |

I can run EVE Online good on Gentoo Linux. I only had to do a manual install, since there is no ebuild. EVE Online runs nicely on it, but higher screen resolution makes the game lag a little. I only had one hard crash with the game, but changing the graphic (screen size, color details etc.) details in spaces coses a lockup so bad that the keyboard has locks up and the computer has to be rebooted with the reset button. ---- Sign has been stolen by ugly dwarf from a unknown solar system. |

You problay have a old version of python installed. I have this python version in Gentoo Linux and I don't see this error.

I get this error with the default Python installed in Ubuntu 7.04 (2.5.1-0ubuntu3), which CCP claims is supported by this client.
EDIT: Installing Python 2.4, and editing the ~/.cedega/.ui/runGUI script to force it to use that version, gets rid of this error but doesn't make the login screen appear.
Here are my run info, if they are of any help. I can run eve online without issues with my Gentoo Linux. Even if it isn't officially supported.

Running in limited Windows API on top of linux is actually worse then running a native client. I would prefer native client, but I can make due with windows api mess and all its problems. At least for some time. For those how are interested, I have this wine version installed, [ebuild R ] app-emulation/wine-0.9.39
But I don't know if it helps running EVE Online, but I have been able to run EVE online without many issues in the test I did do. As limited they where. ---- Sign has been stolen by ugly dwarf from a unknown solar system. |
