Edited by: Solan on 03/11/2007 18:00:35 I caught the fanfest video a little late, but I heard a side comment that eve-voice is now free. Is this true and if so starting when? How do I activate it and make sure I don't get charged?

Yeah i heard that too. Doubt we are going to get a confirmation before the fanfest is over tough. But, i think you just need to activate it. I have it activated since it was in testing. Never got charged.

It's been free since it's introduction, it's just this is the first confirmation that it's going to remain that way.

Confirmed, Eve voice will be free (it pretty much has been since it began) and it will remain that way. Maarud.

It`ll be nice to have an easy way of talking with alliance or gang, but my corp(friends) will probably stick to ventrilo, as it is not reliant on EVE being up to use :) ----

They need to change the website then, when you go to the screen to enable voice, it still says free for 30 days, then 10 bucks a year..

WEll, they only officially confirmed it less than 3 hours ago and almost all of CCP is at the Fanfest. Updating the website will come, eventually...

Ok, EVE Voice is free, so I thought, why not try it out...
An hour later, I just decided to disable it in the prefs.ini, because:
Right now, I'm stuck in two channels, cannot leave them, cannot talk, cannot mute, or reduce the volume. So let's do a Ctrl-Q. and start the editor.
That junk is still in alpha; full of bugs, crashing my EVE and so on.

Well it has been improved greatly in the Trinity patch from what I've heard

EVE Voice has been improved in Trinity. Quality is better, interface is a FREKKIN LOT better and it ties in with things like the fleet overview quite nicely. It has been redesigned almost from scratch and from the looks of it, it's much much better than the crap you have now...

Well, IF it's free, they might as well freaking enable it by default for everybody and make it an opt-out then. _
