Yet another mechanism that generates iskies from out of thin air. And it benefits those people to increase the mean prices as well.

How would reprocessing for minerals "generate iskies from out of thin air"?

So.. If you have something and exactly similar chance to sell it for 3 millions or 4 millions which one do you choose? Takes a complete moron not to be able to or at least attempt to inflate the price.
The knowledge of fair price level is not commonly distributed, especially in Eve.

You guys love doing business losing while at it? Ehh.. Nice.. Live long and prosper
It is in the interest to maximize profit, not press the prices down to the real level. It counter-balances the other effect at least at this moment quite nicely.

you do not do it if the price you get from selling the tritanium after all expenses (including time spent etc) is under the purchase price. there is always premium.
that premium again although approaches infinitely zero, exists and generates isk again from thin air. the closer the zero it gets the less people does it - which balances the premium quite far from the zero.

Learn the concept of premium.
Learn the concepts of 'currency' and 'money supply'. It doesn't generate any ISK. ISK is removed from the economy when this is done since the shuttles are bought from npc sellers. What is generated is tritanium only. It's an ISK sink that works as a limit on how high Tritanium prices can rise.

They will buy for more than that, except when they can buy a bunch of shuttles and reprocess them instead.

I will only say this once. You seem to completely misunderstand basic economic issues and as such, no matter how passive-agressively you post, you will continue to be largely incorrect. I will address your main points one by one.
#1 - What causes inflation I quote you as saying: "What causes inflation is the ratio of money generating (out of nothingness to the whole system, ie. ratting) vs money sinks."
This is incorrect. Inflation is a term that refers to the decrease in buying power of a currency within an economic system. It doesn't refer to an increase in the amount of currency that exists in the system.
#2 - CCP dealing with inflation You said: "CCP constantly tries to remedy this by introducing new (types) of items, ships and stuff to build."
This has absolutely nothing to do with inflation whatsoever. It's a complete non-issue, introducing new items and shiptypes does not deflate the economy, nor does it remove isk from the game as the minerals to build them are not purchased from NPCs. When you buy minerals from someone, your isk stays in the game - you get the minerals and the seller gets your isk. The only cases where this isn't true are those involving refining npc-sold items for minerals, which is my next point.
#3 - Tritanium at 5 per unit Good luck selling tritanium for 5 per unit in empire. Tritanium is capped at 3.6 in empire because if it goes any higher, people simply buy shuttles for 9000 each in unlimited quantity anywhere in empire and refine them, getting tritanium for 3.6 per unit. The reason it increased to around 3.5 recently with the last patch was that the last patch removed an even better npc-sold refinable material (coupling arrays) that produced tritanium even cheaper. The only place where this cap is lifted is in 0.0, where shuttles are not availible.
#4 - Refining shuttles generates isk Incorrect. Refining shuttles generates tritanium and buying those shuttles costs isk. Buying and refining shuttles is an isk-sink, not an isk-faucet. It removes isk from the game as the isk spent on the shuttles goes to an NPC corp that doesn't actually do anything with the isk. I tried reading your explanation of what a premium is but couldn't make sense of it because of your broken english. I looked the term up and apparently it's "a marketing term for a bundled good or service", which doesn't relate to this issue at all.

Insurance and similar things generate ISK out of thin air. Shuttle reprocessing generates MINERALS out of thin air. These two things are not the same. Yes, you can use one to get the other, but this is through player markets, so there is no economy-wide increase in ISK or MINERALS, you just swapped them. When NPCs create ISK or MINERALS, there is an economy wide increase in ISK or MINERALS.

Take the real world as an example, a nice muscle car that was new 5 years ago and expensive as hell is now not so expensive. I equal that to BS`s ingame, we're always gonna have the older ships that become cheaper over time. It`s called progressing forward.
What I hear is that people want Eve to stay static and not dynamic.
Just my two cents.

the real inflation is happening on the faction/officer items market, where there is a genuine supply and demand and no artificial price limits.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
/signed with the op on all points.
if you read into it, there's a lot more that's hurting the economy, or allowing people to jump into battleships within a month, than just plain inflation difficulties. the whole scope of the thing has to be analyzed.
Quote: I think the real problem has to do with missions and the farmers farming those missions. Inflation happens because rats are destroyed in the mission, making money come out of thin air. The farmers reintroduce that magical money into the economy by selling isk or buying gear from honest manufacturers.
Bounties do not come out of thin air--they come out of the NPC economy. While idealistically there would be no NPC economy practically speaking it is a necessity to support all of the structure in Empire.
Again I will repeat...inflation is a bad thing for any economy; and, it is the have nots striving to become "haves" that keeps inflation in check as they compete to offer services and goods at a lower price than the "haves" offer them.
Depriving individuals of battleships is not the way to fix anything. Running level 4 missions helps the have nots move up the ladder, get their skills, and go out into the null sec world once they have done so. Its a good system, and simulates activity that would be necessary to maintain an orderly society as the one represented by Emprie Space is.
and if you ask anyone who played back in 03-04, they'll tell you that the current economy is a huge step forward.
everyone was broke all the time. you had to mine for daysin a frigate to get enough money to buy a cruiser so you could mine for days to get enough money to replace the cruiser when you lost it doing something that wasn't mining. it was a horribly tedious grind for new players, and many of them quit after the 2 week trial.
it's now easier and more fun for new players to get isk, and people are more willing to pvp when they know it won't take them a week of mining to recover from losing a ship.
