Yes. Yes you can use the macro functionality. This has been stated multiple times by GMs

I use the macros to do F1-F8, I believe you can use macros as long as you are actively using the screen and not AFK. F1-F8 really helps me with Carpal Tunnel, etc. Most of my macros are actually chat commands like Yes

I have several macros set up for combat situations to save me from having to hit 5 or 6 F keys in a row. __________________________________________________________ EVE Vault Staff Member. Visit the EVE Vault Fansite |

I've set up a couple of keys for F1 to Fwhatever, depending on the number of high slots on my current ship.
Also, the Ventrilo support is brilliant as I suck at recognising voices.

Actually, this is a good question. I'm in the process of building a new machine and am curious if there are any peripherals people have found particularly useful for EVE. I already have a headset with independent volume/mute button, but am getting a new keyboard and mouse. I'm a fanatic about setting up all my keys in shooters, and have neglected to do so in EVE mainly because to this point I've used a laptop and a five year old laser mouse which, I think, is actually dying now.
Any suggestions? And I'd like to know what other people keyboard macro, too. Remember, we're talking about keyboard macro keys, not macro-mining/ratting. :P

I also use a G-15. Works great, and once you get used the programming you can also get the Alt-F1, Ctrl-F1 and such to work as well. Just need to make sure there is a delay between the keypresses in the script. But I usually lock targets from the overview, too easy to try to click something in space and accidently lock a corpse or gate or something you don't want to shoot.
Gets pretty fun sometimes when you fly something like an Arazu where you have different banks of G keys for different purposes, as you split points and damps between multiple targets and all that good stuff.
I use the LCD for the vent info also.

As faithful Amarr mine did not die to sinful wine, but pure and simple water.
This keyboard is really great, for gaming as well as many things beyond, but the product quality sucks.
Keys start to make silly noises, the color peels off keys after longer use, and it breaks even if a minor quantity of water is spilled over it.
Actually I am back to a good old fashioned keyboard, that can be drenched in coke and still works after a cleaning.
For the price tag associated with it, the G15 fails gloriously.

Im Actually on my 3rd G-15 now, the last one tried to steal my Orange soda, and Drowned itself, and even a quick bath couldn't save it. I love everything about this keyboard, I've had it since it came out, and I've tried moving on, to no avail. I'm glad I've stuck with it tho. Don't forget it has EvEMon support as well, which is nice for people who don't have dual monitors.
Also, who ever said the Build quality is crap, has obviously never used a Microsoft keyboard. I've been a Logitech fan boy for years, They treat me well, so I'll stay faithful.

Logitech Trackman Marble Wheel (wireless if you prefer). The additional degree of control over your mouse's movements is something that no traditional mouse can hope to replicate. That, and I can lean back in my chair with my mouse on my knee and continue to mine while half-asleep!
Oh, and my keyboard is an IBM Model M, build date 10/Nov/1988. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

I use the G9 key for activating F1 - F8 (so much easier... especially if you drag your web/scram/nos into a high slot.)
I use G10, 11 and 12 for private voice chat buttons on TS so that i can talk to my friends while crotchy FCs talk amongst themselves on channel command.
I tried making setups that would just run my MWD or reps but it seemed to hate the key combos and kept breaking.
If anyone has a link to something usefull such as the teamspeak -> LCD screen mod for the G15 i'd appreciate it.
Its handy having the clock right there in front of you too :P

Try the G5 and G15 before you buy, they arent to everyones taste and certainly took getting used to for me.
The G5 has pointless things like weights and sensitivity controls on the mouse but the nicest thing about it is its shape, accuracy and the thumb button that is awesome for push to talk.
The G15 works out of the box with most shooters and shows stats/score/health/ammo etc, you can get a lot of pluggins too apparently, its also a handy clock! and fraps fps counter, media controller etc.
Both of them light up well if you like to play in the dark and brightness is adjustable...
Get them, get them now :P
You get 32 G keys which can each have 2 different macros assigned to them so really you can do away with the rest of the keyboard once you're mastered them :P

I use a G15 key to. Awesome key. I macro everything. F1-F8, low slot mods, the AB, repper, anything that needs a mouse press. I only have the problem of having the macro geting confused and think Ctrl F1 is the same as F1. Otherwise it's really nice.
Including the small display that shows skilltime, music display from winamp, volume changes, clock and vent. I strongly recommend the key. It also has this function where you can remove the windows buttons via a toggle key.
There is even a nice forum on the web where you can go and ask people that can help you with problems you have with the key. And ofc the key have blue lighting so you can see the buttons in the dark. I love that. I no longer need to leen over to see what key Im pressing when I play in the dark... naked.

Several of my friends use G15's, however then came along Razer and out come the Tarantula gaming keyboard, although it lacked an lcd display or backlit keys. The sleek black look, the macro keys and superior feeling and quality made me get that instead of the G15. Its just a nicer keyboard. Ontop of that, I purchased the deathadder mouse and will never turn back.
BTW I will never get wireless for mymachine, flat mouse battery = death.

There isn't one, it's the Vent beta client, native support so nothing to download for the G15 profiler.

G15 is an excellent keyboard, love it. I used to use some simple macros with it, but nowadays I don't bother. The LCD display with teamspeak/ventrilo support is worth the price of admission, alone. Besides, it has a very good feel and is nice to use.

Are there any macros for using drones and figters ?
Like - attack locked target / come back and orbit / come back into drone bay .. etc. ?
Things like that would be a great help to just about any drone / G15 user.

Edited by: Countess Xiao on 05/11/2007 10:59:24 I use it mainly for F1-F8. Also, I use this plugin which has Teamspeak and Winamp display functions, as well as other useful bits of info for your LCD. I love the LCD and the lit up buttons, awesome for playing in teh dark. The media controls under the display are also quite nice when you're in a game and want to switch songs or change the volume.
It's true what people say about its water resistance though. I've spilled small quantities of water and soda on it on a couple of occasions and now the score sign is stuck on permanent underscore, pressing multiply or divide does both at the same time and a couple of the G-buttons don't work no more. It could be worse though.

I use the G-15 keyboard and Logitechs G7 mouse (it is a wireless) it got a nice battery that you can pop out with a button and replace with the battery that follows (it actually got a recharger and extra battery in the package)... takes like 10 sec. to replace the battery.
Since my G-15 now is sort of ****** up ... the wire on the back is "loose" and I loose the keyboard if I don't hold it right so is on the lookout for a new one, might be the new G-15 board that got a LCD display as well but less G-buttons ... or I might go for the "old" G-15 again .. (wich btw will be my third one).
