Well, they don't actively support piracy, but since you get your insuranc paid out after being concordized (or concordokken), it's some kind of passive support for high-sec pirates.
Dear GMs or DEVs, could you please remove that bug?
(And yes, I got pwned in Jita after being uncareful) Can we get EVE back? Please. |

Perhaps they don't like the amount of power concord have gotten over the last few years (it's in the prime fiction somewhere that they have been getting more powerful recently but I can't be asked to find a link) and so have decided to support 'crime' in order to make concord look weak, allowing them to try and take over and have all that power for themselves :P

Well, first it's not a bug (removing this would be very bad voor new eve players btw) and second it will not help against high-sec piracy. Pirats will loose a bit more but not enough to prevent high-sec ganking. Just make cargo/ship-scanning a hostile act and it will solve the problem though. Pirats can still gank anybody they want (like it should) but they don't know before the attack if the attacked ship is carrying valuables or not.

I wonder why no suicide ganker comes to this kind of thread and say "EVE is not WOW, i support this idea, risk vs reward man!"

First they need to remove the bug(s) that make you criminally flagged, even when you have done nothing wrong.
But even then it won't stop suicide ganking. Cause not everyone pays this game obsessing over the contents of their wallet.

you know, the ones that * send a remote rep/shield drone to a rat * pop a container of a gang member that's not a corp member * activate the wrong module when they're trying to salvage a player-wreck * fit a sensor booster uplink instead of a sensor booster and boost the rats * fall for the old ore theft can bait trick * the ones that overestimate theirselfs and go into a mission that's way over their head and pops them before they can turn around and warp out * ...
And how sure are you that your attackers would NOT have attacked you if they would not have received their insurance? I mean, what excuse are you going to come up with when their profits still are much bigger then their losses without an insurance payout?
Suicide ganks will still happen, even when no insurance is payout when Concord was involved and I think that's a good thing. Just look at it this way. Next time you're traveling with a similar cargo hold as the one you lost now, you'll look different at traveling in high sec. It just became a whole different game for you.....

Somehow I would think this would hurt more people then it would help them.
A lot of ships are lost due to stupid mistakes, (see post above for a nice list, I'm guilty of a few of those myself ). Those people loose anything because of a misclick, a stupid mistake, maybe just being tired when even nobody else might have been involved.
What would you say to those people when they come to the forums and complain that they lost their whole possessions because they popped the wrong can or wreck, or used a wrong drone but didn't receive insurance?

It's not a f*****************king bug!
You can't just call things bugs because you don't like them. And piracy is a perfectly acceptable and encouraged game career, not some exploit.

sigh, they do it because it's a blind insurance.
If you don't like it, too bad, it's not gunna change. (and if it does, pretty much everyone would be ****ed)
