Funny how you make fun of his name and not of what he's done. I guess it's non-comparable really, but we really shouldn't go down this road.
I'm sure that America has a larger amount of people than in the UK of lower IQ people. And that's mainly due to America being the size of Europe and not a tiny island. ---

Your democratic system is a joke, you place more emphasis on the decision of state than that of the raw numbers. At least in Canada the vote is based on raw numbers, and the western provinces get little to no say; so we just elect a PM from western Canada. Go Steve-O

Edited by: DubanFP on 06/11/2007 03:17:05 The only reason it seems we "USA" is stupid is because everyone has access to a computer here. My old public High School alone "graduated 2 years ago" had 4 separate programming classes "2 VB I, a VB II, and a java" as well as other misc typing & basic computer courses for a school of about 400. Probebly well over 100 computers considering the 2 full computer classrooms, 1 computer for every normal classroom, the library "filled with more computers", and administrative computers.
Even those without computers can easily just stop by the local library for easy access. Basically, our idiots and children are computer literate. Combine that with a large population and we just seem stupider.
76 computers per 100 people as of 2004. The number has probebly topped 1:1 by now. ___________

I was thinking more along the lines of new technology invented rather than how "teched up" the society is. Like the RAMSANS used to run the market DB and all the IBM kit running the cluster.
Then you have stuff like the http://www.xprize.org/
It is true that Japan is at the forefront of new tech as well.

Hehe. The great thing is that you can even tell how stupid they are from a distance. From my experience their IQ is inversely proportional to the size of their hoop ear rings in the case or women, or to the size and number of gold sovereign rings they're wearing in the case of men. It amazes me how they think anyone could be impressed by their bling when its so painfully obvious its been bought from the Index or Argos catalogue.

Well Geographically speaking the US is far bigger than any of the other countries with faster internet speeds. The US does have some major issues when it comes to Internet Policy (being that we don't have one). But even then stats don't show us being lower than Canada. Also many people choose not to have Broadband, so you can't just base this on the average American.
Speed Tests
And to talk about technological advancement, alot of Advancements happen in the US and are just refined into a product in Japan. I see Japan as having ALOT of useless technologies just for show, and many useless products. Things go through more feasibility testing here in the states than it does in Japan. If you walk into an R&D department in the states you'll see many marvels that will never hit the market because it's not yes feasible to the American consumer. The Japanese are a bit more quirky about their technology while we're more pragmatic.

Planting a flag in India? China? Vietnam?
When one talks of Planting a flag they are usually talking about imperialistic ideals. While I would agree that is the case in the middle east, I don't see how Job Outsourcing and Free Trade is imperialistic.
I would love for the US to abandon most if not all the bases we have around the world, they serve no function but to cause resentment and spend US Taxpayer's money needlessly.
I whole heartedly disagree with what seems to be anti-globalization views though.

When a large percentage of the United States population stop sticking a flag in India, Japan, New Zealand, China, Mongolia, Vietnam or Korea when they're asked to identify Iraq on a world map, perhaps I'll start to take their claims more seriously.
Every country has it's fair share of dumbasses... sadly the United States has one at the helm who cares more about blowing **** up than the education and wellbeing of his "fellow Americans"

12 people in a video is a large percentage of the US? Wow, I think I've had sex with %90 of the population of America.

Eh? When did I say we were backwards? I was talking about the obvious visible differences in our market places. If you go through a Japanese Tech Store, it will be vastly different than an American Technology Store. If one were to make a shallow inspection one might say Japan is far more advanced than we are. I was just trying to say that we're more pragmatic about our products than in Japan. It's a cultural difference not a technological one.

Think it was sometime in the late 80's before the eastren block countries got there independence and the soviet union still exsisted in its geographical form that a survey was done in the united states with a globe with no names asking 2000 Americans to point out there country.
Over 1500 got it wrong..
over 1200 pointed to the Formor soviet Union..
When asked why they chose that country 75% stated "it's the biggest"
Problem with the USA is not that there stupid, its the fact there education system sucks beyond belief and while People in Europe are learning about the industrial revolution and Napoleoon and the fall of the roman empire ect, the Kids in American schools are learning all about the good old USA and nothing much more. Its not until later grades/levels in School where they actually get to learn about history and geographing outside the USA.

No. When I was in public school, we went through all of European history. In fast, I remember having to learn the specific timelines of English kings and the French revolution, that was before 7th grade.
Its too easy to find any group of stupid people in a nation thats is so large. And, why should kids in the USA need to learn much about Europe? How many kids in Europe studied the political history of the mid west USA? An area say, half the size of Europe? How many studied the Whiskey Rebellion? Without which, the popularity of General Washington would not have happened. That popularity which led him to lead the American Revolution? |

OK I'm not sure whether this is true or not but I picked it up off a news site. Not sure how you test the IQ of a dog either but hey...
Apparently the Spanish Army doesn't like using Alsatians because they're pretty dumb compared to other breeds with an IQ of 68. The average IQ in the UK is around 98 apparently. Which is why I'm in a permanent rage when I'm out and about.
Everyone has a blonde or senior moment from time to time and people are good at different things. But the level of stupidity and the ego some people have when they're as thick as mince irritates the hell out of me. Ignorance truly is bliss. The UK is living experiment which disproves the theory 'survival of the fittest'. We've proven that a technologically advanced modern society can destroy evolution. Mankind can degenerate mentally to the lowest level imaginable and still live a decent lifestyle.
So when you see the skinhead down the park on your day off walking his dog, you now know who's in charge.

Not true. I learned more about those things in grade school than I did in high school...
And at University, I learned nothing of the sort... It was either engineering courses, or BS "diversification" (i.e. useless liberal crap) courses...
But I am 34 years old, so been a long time since I was in grade school. Grade schools are not really the problem, kids are learning well up to Jr. High school. That's when things fall apart, as they care more about how they look, sex, what's on TV, etc.
When puberty strikes, kids don't want to learn anymore, they just want stuff handed to them... Learning is too hard... It's the age of instant gratification and ADD, no "cool" kid wants to be intelligent and worldly... They just want to look cool on the eyes of their friends...
High School was pitifully easy for me, finished in the top 10 of my class. I was amazed how stupid most ppl were, but they did not care... I'm not a book smart person, so for me to ace high school like that was a testament to how pitiful the curriculum was...
I'm glad I was a geek in school tbfh...

edit.
for the past 50 some odd years, everytime a republican has been in office.... **** happens....
last democrat we had... all he did wrong was.... get a blowjob..... (which honestly, if he did, or didn't, i don't give a crap if he got a blowjob.)
no, he stole millions, sold nuclear missle secrets to China, made the US look like a complete ass to everyone, among other things. Even GW Bush hasn't managed to make the US the laughing stock of the world to as many people as Clinton did.

Fact?
Fact is she moved to NYS only to one day fulfill her desire to be president, that is so transparent in itself, if you can't see it you're foolish...
Also, fundamentally, she is at odds with what I think a government should be, and what the founding fathers tried to create for us (so are many Republicans btw, but Dems are far worse). She wants to turn us into the EU, no thanks. If you want that, go move there...
I'm not a Bush lover, nor a GOP lover. However, the Democrats mindset is so far from the best interests of the people inhabiting this nation, I can't help but think everyone who would vote for them is anything other than supremely ignorant and/or stupid...

and like the republicans are any better??? in the world of politics, nothing is perfect, but you choose the lesser of two evils.
and how do you say that a democrats mind set is so far off from the people. every democrat i have ever seen in office has done everything in their power for the people.
the other party, OTH, has done nothing but swabble away taxpayers money on a bad idea. (iraq)

Then I'll add blindness to your prognosis...
I don't need the government to tell me how to live my life, I can figure that out for myself thank you, as living in America, it's my right to make that decision.
I also don't need government to take from me to give to the less fortunate. It should be MY decision on weather or not I want to subsidize lazy citizens.
I'm fundamentally opposed to what the Democrats want to offer me.
This country was not started by great men to be ruined by left wing nut cases like Hillary...

anyway, this isn't a political debate.
I choose democrat, because when the economy does well, i get paid more, and i don't have to worry about loosing my home or medical benefits.
i don't choose republican because, i do not appreciate my taxes getting put into something i do not believe in. and my medical benefits have since, been shoddy with a republican in office.
those are my opinions. i really give a rats ass for what anybody else thinks. your a fool for going republican. im a fool for democrat. big ******* deal.

Yep, we should stop here, as this thread is about stupid people. However, it appears we both think each other is quite stupid, LOL!
I do think a lot of Americans are ignorant, and they choose to remain so. Maybe when we are no longer a superpower, and our future rests in the hands of some other country, we will choose to inform ourselves of our surroundings a bit better. But tbfh, right now, we really don't have to. I do because I choose to, and like to learn. Most Americans would rather watch Survivor as opposed to C-Span, or scour internet news, etc...

my point . . . . . . . . . . . . your answer.
Your preaching to the choir buddy. I'm not a natural citizen myself but I've been here for about 2 years. I know about cultural diversity having traveled the world. Once I'm done seeing the states off I'll go back to Asia for a bit. My point though, was that this thread was created to show that stupid people don't just live in the US. It's linked to an article that shows that stupid people do in fact live in the UK too. But instead of talking about societies idiots this thread simply turned into another US bashing thread which to me is ironic because the 2 biggest contenders on this page are both americans hating on each other.

You probably voted for Bush. People like you are the reason that the rest of the world thinks we are war-mongering, poor-people-hating idiots.
Thanks for posting.
To sane people in the rest of the world: This guy only represents half of this country. The rest of us would like for America to seen as an example of Justice and Freedom, good foreign policy not practiced at the the end of gun, with all of its citizens having equal access to health care and education.
Unfortunately, guys like DarkMatter made Bush possible. So now we have less civil liberties, our balanced budget is gone, hundreds of thousands of innocent people are dead, veterans administrations budgets have been cut but we spend billions on a stupid war that only breeds more terrorists.
Thanks, idiot republicans, you've spent what little credibility we had left so Haliburton could get rich, and the rich could get some nice tax cuts.

Yeah, you do reek of a ***** Hillary loving liberal...
None of what you said would be possible without the terrorists attcaking us first, which was all planned during the Clinton administration... The Democrat "lets ignore terrorism and it will go away" policy is what got us into this mess... You're to stupid to see that however...

Quote: Problem with the USA is not that there stupid, its the fact there education system sucks beyond belief and while People in Europe are learning about the industrial revolution and Napoleoon and the fall of the roman empire ect, the Kids in American schools are learning all about the good old USA and nothing much more. Its not until later grades/levels in School where they actually get to learn about history and geographing outside the USA.
They just want to look cool in the eyes of their friends...
High School was pitifully easy for me, finished in the top 10 of my class. I was amazed how stupid most ppl were, but they did not care... I'm not a book smart person, so for me to ace high school like that was a testament to how pitiful the curriculum was...
I'm glad I was a geek in school tbfh...
don't think i did US history until 4th grade, and then again in 5th, 7th, 8th, and 11th. (might have been mixed in in earlier grades) its a shame how schools play down on how flexible the mind is at a young age, and apparently it has gotten worse. *cough* starting long division in 5th grade*cough* if i remember i did that in 3rd grade.
university is still the same, liberal arts crap + major specific.
and I could have been near the top in my class if I gave a crap. its a shame, although i have no idea how i did compared to others. don't remember ever seriously looking at my high school transcript, had the well i graduated so it doesn't matter mind frame.

We didn't have any good choices.
Gore?? Kerry??? Clinton????
No.
Bush sucks. But the alternatives suck even worse.
Americans can forgive alot if you're just consistent.
Because we're tired of prostitutes changing their policies based on which industry is paying them off this month.
If you just take a position and stick to it, you can win alot of votes just based on the fact that you actually have principles.
Bush has consistently been redneck trailer trash for decades, and that counts for alot and wins him tons of supporters.

Um, no. The average IQ is defined to be 100. Whether over time its rises or falls and needs to be rebased for testing purposes, at any particular point the average for a country is 100. Its not an absolute scale but relative.
