Hi guys, i know all races and their ships are capable of running level 4s but how do minmatar ships fair overall ? Are they concidered the worst mission runners and if so, will i be at a realy great dissadvantage compared to other races or will it only be a narrow margine ?
As a side question, how log on average does it take to loot and salvage a l4 fully?

I asked similar questions myself, so I have three accounts and tested Caldari, Gallente and Minmatar skilled pilots. Here is how I break them down:
Caldari = Raven = sit in one spot pressing F1-F7 to launch missiles, once target is dead repeat.
Gallente = Dominix = sit in one spot snipping with sentry drones then slow boat away while Orges tear stuff up that gets close.
Minmatar = Tempest = 6 AC's or Arty while zooming around battlespace taking down npc's like I am a 10 year old boy with ADAD whose mom forget to give Prozac. ADAD is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and it makes for an intersting time when the kids just can't seem to sit still, they have the urge to constantly be in movement and doing something. (Disclaimer: My nephew has been diagnosed with this, sometimes its a pain in the ass, but sometimes, well we have a **** load of fun!)
Anyway, my point is that Minmatar were the most fun and actually required me to "fly" my ships in the missions. I made more money with the Raven, but it gets dull. With that said, I invested heaving in implants and gear to speed up the process.

Thankyou for the reply. I am pure minmatar on this character but have just created an alt account with a caldari specced character with a view to making money/ cov ops scouting for this chars pvp antics - it seems i did the right thing with a view to making $$.
I will however now be running missions on this character too to hopefully get my self an empire jump clone and some tasty faction ammo + for a bit of fun.

Edited by: gpfwestie on 06/11/2007 14:04:25 Edited by: gpfwestie on 06/11/2007 14:03:43 I am fairly low skilled but am using the Typhoon successfully to Solo Level 4 missions.
Probably slower than a Raven, and likely having invested more skill admittedly. This is what I use
Lows
2 x T2 Large Armour Repairers 3 x T2 Capacitor Power Relays 2 x Rat specific hardeners
Mids
4 x T2 Cap Rechargers
Highs 4 x Siege Missile Launchers (Torps) 1 x 1200mm Arty 1 x 720mm Arty 1 x Tractor Beam
Drones 5 x Light 2 x Medium 5 x Heavy
Warp in, get aggro. Launch Light Drones and take out all the frigates Switch to Heavy Drones and use the torps / artillery to pop the BC's then BS's
Edit,
Actually I think I swapped out a CPR for a DCU once I Had the skills to Permatank with the 2 x Reppers.

I have enjoyed using the Typhoon and the Tempest in Level 4 missions. The Typhoon requires a lot of skills, but it's basically 2/3 of a Domi and 2/3 of a Raven combined in one ship. The Tempest was not much different from using a Megathron (I use artillery and railguns in missions).
If the wrecks are not spread all over the place, I can loot and salvage an average Level 4 mission in 15-20 minutes using a salvage Catalyst. ------------

Edited by: Kelbesque Crystalis on 06/11/2007 18:05:34 I use a Maelstrom for level 4's. The extra tanking bonus helps a tons when things get tight, and if your missile/drone skills are low, it will out DPS a Phoon or tempest. 8 turrets > 6 turrets with a +25% dmg bonus. It also has a ridiculous amount of grid for fitting.
I can clear and salvage Angel Extravaganza (no bonus room) in under 2 hours, which nets ~50mil. This is the longest mission i run on a regular basis. There are plenty that take a fraction of that time. This is not super fast, but I am still fairly low skill points (~4mil).

Hi,
I am also do missions on Minmatar ships and i always did all missions level well. Minmatarr ships needs a lot of skills because some of them tank armors, other ones tank shield, you need projectile guns, you need to manage turret speed, your range for that point, missiles, drones... but they are really fun to fly and realy versatile. I took a lot of fun with an AS in level 3 missions when i want speed and adrenaline, or taking an Hurricane (BC) to be more confortable.
For level 4 i use the Maelstrom. As for you because the shield tanking bonus. I had not tested yet the Typhoon nor Tempest (but i will do). With the Maelstrom, i do not encounter specific problems yet, except in 3 cases (i run missions against Angels). Pirate Slaughter is really difficult to tank if you dont warp out and come again to snip them (but i think that everybody do that). The first stage of Recon (1/3) if you want to wait all the pops to destroy them (i know that we can take the gate before, but bounties on BS call me each time). The 2 Cherubins and 4 Seraphim do really huge damages and it's really challenging operation each time, but damn good ! And the last one is the gate bonus in Angel Extravaganza. I always had the chance to have webber inties, and not scramblers, but i cannot tank alone there.
Except this 3 cases, i do all level 4 mission in Maelstrom really easilly. So worst mission runners ? No matter, that's works well enough for me ! --- "Be quick or be dead" |

I could do ALL level 4 missions in my Typhoon BS, and get this: with 4x 720mm Proto's and 3x Limo's Heavies, 1 Drone link Augmentor in the high slot. Yes, CRUISER weapons.
IN the mids i ran all cap charger II's
in the lows i dual repped large T2's and the requisite active hardeners, t2 damage mod etc. etc.
The ship could perma tank anything, even the bonus rooms. And the drone bay was fully stocked with t2 mediums.

Maelstrom is a very nice mission ship, and fun to fly. Sifficient damage type versatility, higher DPS than tempest due to 8 turrets, sizeable dronebay, pretty good bracket with tank/damage shifting - just play with Gyros, TEs and PDSes in lows, sifficient speed with AB.
Just to note - faction AB skyrockets Maelstrom's tank.
