The Goons, who I'd already known from something awful, were pretty much as expected. Irreverent, fun-loving, and finding humor and cheer even in the direst pit of in-game *ss-whuppin. Man I thought, those guys are cool and BoB are jerks, its all so clear. Its a shame that the bad guys are going to win.

Fast forward a bit, and things start turning. The war rolls on, battles come and go, both sides mouth off a bunch, and things turn around. Alliances fall apart, weak-willed corporations blow in the wind, and the opportunistic are making blind guesses on where to go. Its not clear where the easy win is. BoB clams up in forums, Goons get mouthier in forums, and both sides look more even. I'm still remembering what jerks BoB were before, but now the Goons are acting badly too. MC's kicking butt, rolls the north and brings in a tide of followers looking for that easy win again. Actually, I'm going to have to digress from my point here for a sec, since I think MC was relatively well-behaved while winning. Honestly, a pleasant change compared to what seems to be the norm.

Ok, so now we get to the here and now and things are in complete opposite. BoB now looks to be getting hammered, and they're acting a whole lot classier about it. The Vacuum video was excellent. I dunno. I guess winning makes people let down their guard and act how they want to. It also seems to attract the most opportunistic and undesirable. I'd encourage more folks to think about that as they move forward and ask yourself how you actually wish to define yourself. Battles will come and go, some alliances will change names or regions, but what you choose to be while doing so will remain with you.

To 'crush' / humiliate / hurt (feelings) them and all that those people like (or standing up for) seems to be mostly their way

I don't know why they have chosen EVE to destroy, maybe because you have far more drastic ways to harm somebody else
as it is possible as in any other MMORPG.

Maybe they want to destroy EVE instead of for what a MMORPG stands. As for paying for the somethingawful-forum they
seeming not to mind much in spending a lot of real money (for their accounts and in-game money) to reach what they want.

If they started to 'like' the game at some point, I don't know. I don't believe that this would make any difference anyway.

Call me a BDSM lover, but i really like big fights, hudreds of ships dieing in blazes, roaring in the battlefield, dieing in one second. The lag is merely a nuissance, when u are in a fleet conducted as the fleets i am in. No i do not work pos`es, and ussualy we do not shoot for hours enemy poses if we do have better things to do. Tbh i would not like fuel pos`es, but there are people that fittings of his/her pos is the highlight of eve. And this is not an irony, but a true statement. This is why i am in BoB and shooting Ragoon, their friends, their friends moms and in the spare time everybody else.

PS. those coward alts that pose as bob lovers, if u have any ballz, give me a pm, my other character wants to pod you over and over. At least enemies are posting with mains.

It was only a matter of time, and IMO its only going to get worse. Bacteria festers, and grows if left unchecked. Goons are much the same.

I find it hilarious that a double standard is played against Goons as to everyone else. Even when BoB was on top, everyone here still made fun of GoonSwarm. The "respect in the old days" are nothing but rampent lies to somehow explain how things have changed. The respect was never for GoonSwarm, except for maybe a brief moment when we invaded Outer Ring and had it pretty much pacified inside a few weeks. D2, BoB, LV, and everyone has come to Syndicate hunting Goons: only a handful of alliances didn't actively seek to attack us, those are whom we've aligned with now.

We are a threat to every BoB/faggot-aligned alliance and corporation because we're going to extract our pleasure from watching you fall apart, from watching you fail and by watching you lose space.

Goons haven't changed in their attitudes, their actions or their ideas, but rather the community that has "changed their minds on goons" (when they were already made up two years ago) because in today's EVE it suits them. COAD was a sespool before Goons were granted posting rights, we actually brought some humor to it.

Graceful winning is not part of the Goon vocabulary. It wasnt that much better for bob but at least they kept it relativly civil.

The "respect in the old days" are nothing but rampent lies to somehow explain how things have changed. The respect was never for GoonSwarm, except for maybe a brief moment when we invaded Outer Ring and had it pretty much pacified inside a few weeks. D2, BoB, LV, and everyone has come to Syndicate hunting Goons: only a handful of alliances didn't actively seek to attack us, those are whom we've aligned with now.

We are a threat to every BoB/faggot-aligned alliance and corporation because we're going to extract our pleasure from watching you fall apart, from watching you fail and by watching you lose space.

Goons haven't changed in their attitudes, their actions or their ideas, but rather the community that has "changed their minds on goons" (when they were already made up two years ago) because in today's EVE it suits them. COAD was a sespool before Goons were granted posting rights, we actually brought some humor to it.

I honestly think that the time will soon be at hand when the EVE Community see Goons for what they truly are. ( If you dont already) A threat to us all. Regardless of what side of the Great EVE War I'm on I say this as a 3yr EVE Pilot.

I have to admit, at first look a while ago Goons seemed to be a refreshing group for the game. a bunch of low level SP pilots looking for a good time together. I heard about their roaming frigate gangs going against overwhelming odds. Losing ofc, but the point was they were having a good time. As time progressed, and their SPs, and numbers grew so did their*****yness, and lack of respect for this game, and its players.

Now, they have very openly stated in the past that they are here to ruin EVE for all of us so why are so many people surprised at the latest events on the CAOD forums? It was only a matter of time, and IMO its only going to get worse.

Look at it from our viewpoint. We where always enemies of ERA. We lived in Venal and we hit them and they hit us. I even lost one of my carebear ships to them. Then suddenly D2 evict ERA/goons and whatever from Tribute but there is noone to take control of the stations. We could either let ERA move back to the stations and continue to be raided by them or we could take the stations. How could we not take the opportunity to force an enemy to empire?

I agree with some of your observations. However, it should be pointed out more clearly that:

* Humility after defeat doesn't make you better than you used to be. BoB still deserves to be loathed for the pr**ks they have been.

* Some people always look for easy victories. Don't look at what side they're on now, look at the moment in time when they're switching sides to spot them.

On the rare occasion that the Goons do more than hurl the products of mental whack-offery (************ is a censored word? Really?) wide and far, some of their posters reveal a mindset that may actually have some reasoning and intellect at work.

(Even if that intellect spends most of its time screaming "FOFOFOFOFOFOF" while rubbing peanut butter on its genitals in the finest Goon tradition.)

I'm no fan of BoB. At all. Shortly after ASCN fell, I was pretty firmly on the side of the soon-to-arise coalition (or, rather, on the side of whoever was not BoB). I wanted to see the smirk wiped off the Bobbits' collective face and - as much as anything else - BoB to be revealed as mortal. So, the Goons and RA buddied up in a more meaningful manner and started pushing west once LV *****ed. Good stuff.

Shame that the average Goon post now pretty much comes down to "lol fgs". There are exceptions - now and then there's a Goon post that is genuinely clever and often amusing. They're just far outweighed by the above. The Goon dogma of heartlessness, ruthlessness and general ****ery is not what bothers me. It's the increasingly predictable, immature and flat out stupid way that so many Goons insist on conveying it.

For me, the Goons went from the loveable young scamps with permanent, mischievous grins to the arrogant, moany teenager who insists that everything's everyone else's fault and trashes the place as a result. You're worse than BoB ever were, which is saying something.
