Sadly my Vista instalation got lost in a dual boot attempt ( note: Do NOT put up second OS in case Vista is up, it can be done, but its a pain. Vice versa works great ).

As someone who works in the IT industry I can say, that our company gradually downgraded all Vista Business licenses to XP Pro. Several programs couldn't work on it, there were numerous stability issues "it looks this program have stopped responding, please wait while windows collects additional information". And, most important thing, Vista consumed computer resources at an alarming speed.

I use it, I love it!
I use it at home, and then use evemon at work as I only have sucky old XP still at work 
Mind you as I spend more time at work than I do at home, evemon is great for getting skills in order.

I don't use the Widget, Evemon does just fine for me. I use Vista 32 bit to play Eve, it runs flawlessly. If you don't like Vista, then don't use it. Simple as that

i am about to get a new computer, but with eve now working on linux i highly doubt i will *ever* use vista.

well I decided,in my wisdom, to change from Vista Firewall to Zonealarm, and my gadgets stopped workingAll sorted now
But word of warning to others if you do as I did and then run EVE for the first time after Zonealarm install in a windows OS as sometimes(seems to differ on PCs,even on same OS) the permission popup in Zonealarm will not show if you are in full screen and your game will lock up

I have no shame in admitting I'm quite smitten with Vista and something of a Gadget-lover and the EVE one has been top of the pile for quite some time. I interviewed the guy who wrote it a couple of months back, when i was working on EVE TV, and this is what he said:
"I made it because an Eve Online player asked me too, and I like making gadgets. He also donated quite a bit which was helpful. I think I made the gadget in about an hour, then spent something like a week getting the time zones to work properly, that was an absolute nightmare. The Eve Online server time was wrong by about 20 seconds so getting the users local time to match with the server time was surprisingly difficult.
"There's more skins to be added for definite. As far as functionality goes though, probably nothing new, gadgets are meant to be simple really, the more advanced stuff is handled by EveMon. If I hear a good suggestion though I may implement it. There's more details about what im currently up to on gadgetdev.blogspot.com"

I use it too. Very helpful little program.
And yeah now i run Vista x64 on my pc amd works fantastic so far (after some tuning).

No actually he's 100% correct, Oddly enough a little modifying of the .ini file will make it look exactly like the DX10 version ;p Also you can spawn weapons a tank and a copter ^^
edit: *cough* vista blows and it's open gl support is a travesty. its eula is a travesty, and its mammoth resource wasting is a travesty. DX10 equivalent could be run on xp nps ;p MS knows this, they also know that absolutely no one would buy vista if went too XP.
In short: Vista is a travesty with the only remarkable , actually thats a lie it's not remarkable. Only universaly liked feature is held hostage on it's system too boost it's sales :| Not like DX10 does anything open gl2 hasn't been doing for a while now :|

Its a well known fact by most experienced tweakers/ ppl that actualy know something about computers that DX10 is indeed a MS sham that tries to force ppl into changing to vista .
There is NOTHING new in vista that explains the limit of DX10 to vista .
Infact , there are already ppl working on a unofficial patch for xp that will let you update your DX9 to DX10 and it wont be thx to Billy .
DX10 aside , i work in IT for an international company and we are already partially converted to Vista and its no secret that there are regrets for the fast transition, due to programs unstabability/incompatibility - printer issues .
For personal use ive been trying out vista since the beta releases on MSDN and im always going back to xp after a couple weeks of dissapointment .
If you buy a pc today with vista installed on it then you never saw it run on XP and for that cant realy have an objective statement about it .
The reason why vista fails for me is imo due to the fact that there is tomuch background activity without your consent .
The revision of the user account system is unhandy , UAC is joke easely turned off but still redicules , win defender another MS joke but also easy to disable .
So you have all these new bells and jingles for what ? to disable them ? and all thats left is some minor dual core optimisation and a flashy interface and some unfinished promising additions (for ex ready boost) ..... not impressed .
And there are plenty of programs that will let you run the vista interface in XP .
Imo it will take one or two service packs untill i find Vista acceptable .

I use Vista, but not the gadget since the sidebar looks horrible on the "Windows Classic" (non-Aero) appearance.

I run Vista at work and tinkered with the gadgets but found the Widgets from Yahoo to be MUCH more flexible. So I use the EVE Online Skill Monitor for the Yahoo Widgets at work and use EVE Mon at home. The Yahoo Widgets will run on XP as well.

There's a couple of threads on the interweb that talk about this topic. For example This one. I run this config tweak myself and have all these nice goodies that was supposedly only available for directx 10. Also, when running in windowed mode you can create very nice hi-res screenshot using the 'e_screenshot 1' command. 'e_screenshot_width' and height set the target resolution. Make sure you enable console commands first with 'con_restricted 0'.
I really wish Trinity 2 would get such a feature. I know the devs use some kind of similar method to get all the nice fancy screenies that they put up the website, but it'd be awesome if we, the customer, could have such a feature too.
Now, to get back on topic, I'm not running Vista so I'm also not using that widget. However, I'm using EVEMon to track my skills and such. Though, if the time comes to upgrade to Vista I will have a look at it. But for now, I'm fine with XP, and because I have to spend a lot of time for college homework I'd rather not upgrade to Vista yet because of the large amount of bad stories.

I use the Skill watch tool and run evemon. Evemon for stuff, skill watch for simplicity and the ability to check progress at a glance. As for Vista, my laptop runs better now that I've upgrades. I still have loads of stuff on my laptop and as for resources, vista doesn't clean me out, I still have plenty of memory left over and lots of processing power. Stabilty is also a non-issue, no crashes since installing Vista.
