If we're going to Vegas with out the family why is this not scheduled to occur in conjunction with CES and AVN ?

I want to come really really bad and so does the wife (yes she plays EVE, yes she is actually a woman) however she works for US govt, 5th of October is the wrap up of Fiscal year end. Grr.. Not sure she would be down with me attending without her in Vegas. Been trying for 4 years to goto fan fest in Iceland, but unable too. This could be as close as I get. Hmm...

Mainly its timing, CES is too close to Fanfest and we want there to be enough of a gap for those people who want to go to both events to be able to get unique and timely information from both.

As your answer is rational and makes sense I can find no issue with it. However, it does transition nicely into something I have already been thinking about related to fanfest. This isnGÇÖt the venue for it but IGÇÖm here, peoples are here so I will put it here.
I think there should be a shift in how fanfest operates that reflects the player base and celebrates the international community. Mostly, it stems from me being poGÇÖ white trash while I finish college up and not being able to afford to go to Iceland. I graduate this semester and will have the time and money to go visit Iceland and fanfest. But then that causes a whole new problemGǪ What about the year after that, and then the year after that, etc.

Just keep going back to Iceland or lose interest in attendance as the appeal of seeing a new country and culture is part of the appeal which helps justify the trip anyway? I say naynay! CCP should treat fanfest like the Olympics and by that I donGÇÖt mean once every four years, but rather rotate it around the world and schedule it to coincide with or at least occur right before significant cultural events in that specific area.

Examples:

One year, have it in Calgary, Canada one year right before Stampede. I am from the US but my unit had to do training up in Medicine Hat every year and part of the carrot to keep us from going too crazy afterhours was allowing us to have liberty in Calgary for the weekend before we flew back to our unit. I never knew what Stampede was but if I had to put it in terms for Americans I would describe it as a Rodeo/Western-ish Mardi Gras type celebration. In the military I have traveled a lot and been the destroyer of many alcoholic beverages but I never had as much fun or hurt as badly the next day as I have after a night in Calgary. I would never have known about it if I hadnGÇÖt been exposed to it.

Another potential destination, one that time wise makes sense or would have made even more sense for 2012. Eve Fanfest Tokyo. Then Eve FanFest London, then Vegas, then Rio, Paris, Berin, Moscow, Melbourne, New Orleans and so on. Modify the timing of fanfest to be adjacent or overlap with a big cultural event/party in that area. The actual Mardi Gras in New Orleans would be an example.

This would present fanfest as a double threat and easier for me to explain/justify and include my wife in. And before any snarky GÇ£why would you want your wife to goGÇ¥ comments, sorry you married the wrong woman, I didnGÇÖt.

Money permitting I would go to every fanfest that followed that format because it would allow me the travel all over the world. Granted, money permitting anyone could do that anyway, this is more the two birds one stone scenario.

Also, from the perspective of poGÇÖ white trash, having it cycle through my country every few years would allow me to eventually attend when I otherwise wouldnGÇÖt be able to.

Eve Vegas 2011 was Epic...if there is not Eve Vegas this year I will be highly encouraged to try and earn a lifetime ban on certain people.

The evening of the 5th is the bar crawl, the actual convention will be the 6th and 7th. We recommend flying in the night of the 5th though since the events will start around 10am.

What is the package rate going to be if you want to stay at the Paris Hotel?

How late are things going to run on Sunday?

I can agree that flying in the day of is rough.. so is flying out the next morning. WTF was i thinking of. All I can say is that I'm glad that I thought of setting my alarm on Saturday afternoon because I was in no condition to remember my name come Saturday night.

Of course, it might have had something to do with the 8-9 bottles of corona I chugged in the last row of the conference. Just saying.
(At least they were light beers.. gotta watch those calories!)
