First post on this forum but thought I'd share a story from earlier today!
I'm sitting around in Jasc (small 0.6 in Galente space) waiting for war targets to stop being afk and becoming increasingly bored. Decide to setup a Cheetah while I wait so I've got a probing ship in system for when they start coming online en masse. When I get back I see a Golem on scan and one of the WTs is no longer in the usual station so I get scanning...
First scan gets an 87% hit and a quick adjustment gets me into the mission! Worlds Collide...(or at least I think that's what the mission is).
Fortunately the missioner has only killed one of the rat pockets on the initial gates so it is easy to work out which way he has gone and I proceed through the Angel gate into the next pocket...nothing here. Next pocket...nothing there either. He's still on close range scan within half an AU though so I hold out hope that he is still there. Eventually I find him finishing off some rats, coming out of warp just over 2km from him still cloaked. Not the war target though....damn.
I form a plan and decide to veer away from him cloaked and approach a can, decloaking about 10km later and loot it. He doesn't lock me so I move onto the next and start chaining them while he kills the final rats in the pocket (thankfully Covert Ops ships have reasonably large cargo holds!). I'm about to leave when he locks me when there is one battleship rat left and just sits there tanking it, looking at me. 'There's hope yet!' I think and patiently sit there awaiting his next move.
The final battleship rat pops a couple of missions later and I think he is approaching the acceleration gate to the next pocket, clearly not intent on attacking me. At this point I decide to add the corporation to negative standings and notice that there is another member in local, who also has temporary kill rights on me, and a Tengu has just popped up on short range scan. The Golem starts to move towards me and stops less than 1km from me.
The Tengu appears in the pocket and I think of warping out due to the Sister's probe launcher on the Cheetah but decide to see how things pan out.
Suddenly the Golem red boxes and my shields drop to 70% so I initiate warp back to the station and decide to mention my disappointment in local:
Teardrop Butterfly > :( disasteur > coward Teardrop Butterfly > i'm only in a frigate though :( Teardrop Butterfly > no need to shoot me, i just wanted some loot disasteur > please do come back Teardrop Butterfly > next time i will ask Teardrop Butterfly > sheesh disasteur > ******
I certainly didn't like his last comment and he did ask me to come back in so I hop in my Machariel and return to the field, renaming my ship to 'Mission Beast' as I land on the acceleration gate in case they are scanning for ships. Amusingly a friendly local decides to give us some advice as I'm landing:
Ingenya Dorakos > if you dont take your loots , ABANDON all your wreck :) that eiil turn it in blue
Gate 1 passes, gate 2 passes, and I land in the 3rd pocket but the Golem has moved onto the 4th and his buddy in the Tengu is still sat on the gate. '****' I think, 'he's going to warn the Golem pilot' and I gun for the gate as fast as possible, landing to see, much to my surprise, that the Golem is just sat there shooting the rats.
I lock him up and light him up. His shields are easily able to tank my damage and his Tengu friend joins the fray and begins to tracking disrupt me while the Golem kindly places a target painter.
I switch my neut from the Golem to the Tengu and cut all speed to keep it at 25km while keeping the long point on the Golem at all times; hits start to land and his shields disappear before he has a chance to initiate a warp out.
Tengu
I switch everything back over to the Golem and keep it at range since it is not moving but still its shield booster just laughs at my >1k DPS output. I think about offering him a ransom to leave since he's clearly got a lot invested in the tank but decide to give the neut a few more minutes to work on him for the time being; nothing can be seen on short range scan that might be a threat.
I'm about to convo him when his shield drops by a large chunk and isn't boosted; a quick view of his ship reveals that his hardeners have turned off and his booster is no longer functional. A bright blue flash erupts across my screen.
Golem
Teardrop Butterfly > gf disasteur > better selfdestruct
The pilot either logs off or leaves local, but then reappears and I ready myself for another fight. Surprisingly I receive the following in local:
disasteur > Teardrop Butterfly GF and respect disasteur > your a hard cookie to crack Teardrop Butterfly > gf mate Teardrop Butterfly > /emote tips hat Teardrop Butterfly > you too disasteur > spend the isk well and fly save ;)
Nice to see people not taking the game too seriously for a change. A hard lesson to learn but one learnt well I think.

Ok...
So as with most things I am not a complete ass. I also help out Indy corps for free when they are constantly harassed by the same corp. Most of the time all it takes for the guys to stop is a polite email from me and the dec is dropped. I actually do prefer to work things out with my fellow war deccerds.
I have a buddy that has shunned the PVP lifestyle I so richly enjoy and joined an indy/missioning corp. (To each their own) this corp was decced so I politely asked the guys to please retract the war. I was met with your normal verbal abuse of guys with to much testosterone buildup and noway to let it loose other than their rooms local plumbing.
i know what I am capable off and facing a small fleet of legions, Command ships and neut RR is not one of them. There is just noway I would be able to face a force like that on my own. As with most I also have friends, I get on my Bat Phone calling up a old Corp member of mine. Elijah Ghost from the Monkeys with Guns. [BNANA] Alliance.
A couple of hours later the war was retracted, realizing they are now chewing off a lot more than they will be able to handle. Sometimes a fight can be won or lost with the mere mention of a name. In this case The Monkeys with Guns came through for me, and my buddy is able to enjoy his Indy/Mission Lifestyle.
Although I do enjoy flying alone I have a lot of good friends I made through Wars and the Stories here that gives me the ability to call for assistance or even helping them out when required.
To those that are always willing to assist me when I really need it. I raise my Beer Glass to you guys.
yes this story does not contain kills. I have over 11 Billion in kills this Month if you can go and check those out. i even have some losses.

I'd be honoured to tell some of my great stories, but I fear that content consisting of different people threatening to hunt me down & shoot me, or **** my family & animals would get old fairly quickly. It's about time CCP stops catering to the lazy players with this sense of entitlement for fear of losing money. These aren't the people making the game better, these are the people wanting you to turn EVE in to a game that is like most other MMO's. |

So this is the story of a few corpmates that struck it rich by camping a gate at the right times, and having an extremely knowledge-lacking target. Sadly I could not partake in the killing, as I was located many jumps away, but I shall share the story to the best of my ability.
It was early on the 22nd of November, when some of my corpmates set up your average gatecamp in Maut, bordering the Gallente highsec systems of Osmeden and Adacyne. They chose the Osmeden gate, as it is a much more traveled gate. I'm on comms with them when I hear one say "Gateflash, SCORPION NAVY ISSUE!!!!" After a minute or so I hear cries of joy erupt over TS.
Le Kill: http://www.evecomms.com/ctq/index.php/kill_detail/5641/ HML Scorp Navy? Really?
They haul the loot back to station and take a break for an hour or so. Upon their return they set up camp again, this time on the Maut gate in Alparena. Over comms I once again here "gateflash.........SCORPION NAVY ISSUE!!!!!"
Same story: http://www.evecomms.com/ctq/index.php/kill_detail/5638/ HML again?
An hour passes, then this happens: http://www.evecomms.com/ctq/index.php/kill_detail/5645/ this is getting stupid funny
I log on the next day to find them once again camping the Maut gate. They wait for a few minutes. Then, I hear, "Are you ****ing kidding me?"
The channel starts dying of laughter and I rush over to Maut and arrive just in time to see a flash of blue light, which was the end result of this: http://www.evecomms.com/ctq/index.php/kill_detail/5642/
Long story short, a few lucky campers made some very hilarious kills. |

I can't play EVE atm since :broken patch: but my corpmates are all laughing on comms ; he just put a few billions bounty on Yarrbear, making that little corp the second "most wanted" in EVE, just after UMAD (who has been wardecing EVEuni for a while).

So after Retribution came out, I planned to get some Venture BPOs and resell them for profit. I had pre-setup a safe undock with my prowler and logged off in the station awaiting the patch.
I login in the morning: Buy the BPO's, and leave the station knowing there were like 40 more people in local than last night. I insta warp (past a bubble) due to safe spot. Jump 2 systems away and then realized I forgot the put the BPOs in my cargo bay.
I go back to the station and get my BPOs. Realizing I should not try again so soon, I log off for 2 hours.
When I come back, I undock again. This time it takes me 6 attempts to get past the bubble, but I make it.
After avoiding 5-6 traps, I come to yet another. This time my ship drops 4000m from an other one, I pretty much know I a m probably toast, but lets give it a go. I avoid their first pass, but get picked up on their second pass. Could not warp initially due to bubble so they got me.

My complements on a good trap and good execution.

So a friend of mine (Ace) and I were roaming our usual nullsec space, when we spotted a drake jumping into lowsec. As I was in a vengeance and Ace was in a zealot, I jumped first.
The drake promptly started talking in local, and asking me what I want. I gave him a little speech about how I was a low sp character and I was bored and trying to suicide my vengeance into something. He didn't quite believe me, but he obliged to sit at a (rather poor) safe long enough for probes to find him and me to scram and web him.
He immediately starts pleading for his life, and I demand the nice round sum of 50 mil isk for his life. After explaining to him how he can give me money (lol) my wallet starts blinking. I tell my buddy that we can commence shooting, and the drake just gets more desperate.
He promises that he'll pay more, so we stop. He offers us 25mil now and 25mil after we let him go. Graciously accepting the 25 mil we teach him a hard lesson about EVE. (Something along the lines of 'don't trust people because they will rip you off').
75mil in the pocket and here's the drake killmail: http://www.ineluctable.eu/kb/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11646. Funny how his drake was only 66mil.
He then proceeds to start throwing profanity and threats at me, to which I responded that he could 'bring it. After some more profanity and cursing and threatening I just start to ignore his mails (collecting tears as time passes, he just keeps getting madder and madder). He also put a 25
Then I got a mail saying this: Sorry about my younger brothers foul mouth, he sneaks on my character some times. What did he do?
I will leave you with that to figure out whether it's true or the guy is just apologetic. |

Yeah, I agree.
You should honor your word.
The whole "Eve is a dangerous place" and "Never trust anyone..." is nothing more than an excuse for people to behave like absolute douches.
Not only that, but you'll NEVER collect another cent from that guy, or anyone he talks to. Imagine if you kept your word and found him again. He'd probably blink your wallet even before you have him tackled.

I have a story in here where I skinned a sheep 3+ times. Somehow he always grew a new one.
I don't honor ransoms because other than the one guy (who paid me every time), I have not encountered victims again who were dumb enough to get into that situation twice.
And honor? Really? Being a douche is more fun.

Another story; not as much build up as the last one, and a kill that wasn't very inspiring but which ended in a really good result for me.
Cruising around for war targets as usual when I come across one alone in a system. Nothing on scan for a while until I see a Thorax with a name I recognise. It has a Vexor with it however which is a bit odd seeing as he has no corp members in local.
I decided to probe it out anyway and get a 100% hit on the first attempt after narrowing their mission location down first using d-scan. Probes in system for less than 10 seconds before they're back in my hold, score!
Warp in to the mission...gate 1...gate 2...gate 3...war target in the Thorax as I suspected, and a neutral Vexor!
Burn to the target, who apparently hasn't noticed me and lock him down. The ship pops some time later.
Kill
Start getting a lock on the pod and that soon is also locked down. I leave him just sitting there for a minute or so to see what happens and I get a convo through.

OK,
So I have been gunning to try out the new Kill Rights system. Lucky for me, this happened.
Raven Navy: http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=15477444
POD: http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=15477443
I was busy camping war targets when he undocked in that Navy Raven. I don't know if my large bounty blinded him, but suddenly I am being shot at by this punk. Concord swoops in to safe me and I get point on him to make sure I get the KillMail.
I noticed that just for the act of engaging me, gave me Kill Rights. So I waited, every time he logged on I go and check what he is flying. Today it was a Rattlesnake. Since you have to activate the Kill Right with him on grid I sat in system with him and a corp mate sat on the other side of the gate to point him. Knowing that a Rattlesnake can Tank like Hell I decided to bring out the big guns. It is not often anybody sees me in a Battleship.
Sure enough he lands on the gate, I activate the Kill Rights and he jumps with me jumping behind him. Corp mate points him and we proceed to do what is right and properly make use of those Kill Rights.

These sorts of marks usually aren't the ones reading this sort of thread. And the ones who do are already intelligent enough not to pay a ransom. |

Tah'ris Khlador wrote:And the ones who do are already intelligent enough not to pay a ransom. There are pirates that honor ransoms, I want to say most do. If a pirate doesn't that makes all pirates look bad... which absolutely doesn't matter... until we bring in the idea of losing money. Call it the player is intelligent, call it the player is poor, or upset and just says ****-off, but no matter how you look at it odds are these players heard about some pirate that didn't, or worse don't honor ransoms. And that can unfortunately increase the chances of not getting paid. |

Would never pay a ransom -
IMO a nice feature would be an offer 'ransm' button allowing the pilot some sort of guaranteed escape type thing |
