Originally by: OldWolfe If there are no rollback...at least 30 minutes before the crash, then how can we be assured that our ships that were in dangerous places such as missions or ratting or pvp'ing, all have survived?
Wouldn't it make sense to have a small scale rollbacks so the Dev's dont have to worry about all the petitions that could be caused by the lack of a rollback?
I for one would like to be assured that my Astarte is out of harm way while CCP does their job fixing this problem. Or otherwise there will be too many "emotional" people getting on CCP's arse.
I feel your pain, though to be honest the fact I was safely ensconsed in a station at the time of the crash severely limits my ability to empathise with your predicament. |

But petition = forcing Devs and other CCP folks to spend MORE time fixing the loses of ships when a rollback will give CCP more time to fix problems without worrying about replacing everyone's ships that has gotten destroyed by this issue.

I worry when they use the word "momentarily" it's such an open ended sort of word. I would sup with the devil and forget to use a long spoon if it led to me spitting on the grave of nationalism.

Originally by: Akita T Pfft, patch day syndrome again. You'd think that by now players would have learned that you DON'T set a short skill on patch day (and I mean, the entire patch day, and the following day too if possible). Pavlov would be ashamed, dog beats human badly
Yeah, it's too bad some of us never learn. I mean, how stupid of us to expect professionals who are being paid by us to do something as planned and have it go smoothly. What are we thinking? True, suggesting refunds and screaming about it does no good either, but it's astonishing to me that there are so many passive responses stating this is just the way it is, so live with it. We can and should expect better.
This is a great game in a lot of ways, but the stability, operation, and implementation of patches is about the worst I have encountered in online games. And in this game, the consequences of a crash or unexpected downtime are much more severe than in any other game. As an example of how it can be done right, LOTRO has met every schedule they have set, and has crashed maybe one time after a patch, close to launch. Their down times are once every 2 weeks.
Much of the discontent the players have over this kind of thing would be mitigated by a skill queue, and, barring that, how about, if I am training level 4 of a skill, it just goes ahead and sets level 5 if level 4 completes. This could even be setup so that it only happens when an unscheduled and/or extended downtime happens.

people should be used to this by now, no to offence to CCP, but everytime there is an upgrade or patch update there are problems after. CCP should just simply say, we will be down the entire day after dt, and that be that.
After a game that has been running this long, and well I am suprised there is still bugs, but to be honest Im glad CCP still bother to sort them rather than make a new game. I've not bought any game scince I bought EVE. I can admit Im addicted..... same as booze smokes etc etc
Just would love to Know when that patch comes out that allows dogfighting on plannets (saw a video once), Not that I'm any good at PVP *********************************************************

Edited by: Kilostream on 06/11/2007 17:53:02 Yup shame server is down - but anyone who has played eve past 1 patch knows not to go into any potentially kaboomish situations on patch day, nor do they change the long skill they set right after the server first comes back up!
If you didn't know, you do now, so just comfort yourself with the thought that somewhere deep underground in CCP's Bat-Cave there is some serious sweating going on!!
::Edits:: Oh yeah and to the people asking what fail over means - I'm guessing it's a typo mixing up "fallen over" and "failed"?
