As you may have noticed, spammers have been recently paying us a visit, opening paying accounts for the sole purpose of spamming our forums. The sites and executable that they have been linking to contain keyloggers. These keyloggers capture your account and password information, rendering your account vulnerable to third-party access and abuse.
We are, and will continue to work diligently in regards to this form of abuse towards our community, and strongly urge you those of you who may have accidentally clicked those links to run a full system scan and change your passwords. It is also advisable to always make sure that your operating system and virus scanner (you do have one, right?) is up-to-date.
We apologize for the inconveniences this spam may be causing you. If you come across said spam, please use the report link, which is located in the top right-hand corner of the offending post. Alternatively with phishing emails, the best route to follow in order to ensure that they're not fooling others is to forward the mail to [email protected]. That way we can deal with the matter with all of the best possible information available to us.

One of the avenues of attack by ISK sellers has been through emails that appear to be legitimate emails sent by CCP. Their goal is to trick you into providing them with your account information so they can steal it and your hard-earned ISK. A recent email sent by these ISK sellers talks about how much ISK your account had when you quit and talks about how you can use it for buying PLEX. This is very similar to an email we sent out in October, however, this current email has not been sent by us.
Please be careful when clicking links from emails and websites. Verify they are from CCP as these emails are attempting to install malware to steal your account information. If you at any time you are concerned that an email you received may not be a legitimate email sent from CCP, file a petition and provide the full body and headers of the email.
Fly safe everyone!

WeGÇÖve had a significant increase in hacking in the past months probably in response to our Unholy Rage campaign. Accounts are being keylogged by ISK sellers. The same pattern is being witnessed in other MMOs. We have made it harder for them to GÇ£farmGÇ¥ ISK by ingame means and thus they turn to desperation in order to stay afloat.
We are working as hard as we can in solving these issues. Unfortunately, Customer Support has to take preemptive action when accounts have been accessed by IPs frequently used by hackers, even though nothing has been stolen yet. We need to make sure that our affected players are aware of the danger and that they take appropriate action in order to secure their systems.
There are ways to avoid getting hacked and we urge all players to take note;
1.Never buy ISK for real money. 2.Never visit ISK selling websites. 3.Never user macro programs. 4.Never share accounts with anyone. 5.Avoid logging into EVE using public computers. 6.Do not use the same username in different MMOs and if you do, certainly do not use the same password. 7.Change your password periodically. 8.Have your password complex.
Following these simple steps will make it much less likely that oneGÇÖs account will be hacked.
We hope that you, our fine players, will assist us in this by not doing business with hackers and ISK sellers and by encouraging other to do the same.

We've identified a new phishing attempt with a PLEX reactivation offer, similar to an email we sent out late last year. The email sender is using "[email protected]" in an attempt to make the email appear to be legit. Please be advised that CCP has not sent this email out, and we encourage you to discard it immediately.

We have discovered a new account Phishing scam.
It's offering 5 days of free activation. It gives you a link that shows "eveonline.com" but is hyper linked to a different address.
DO NOT click on it.
If you have any question of any link in any email right click it and copy it. Paste it into note pad to reveal the actual web address. It will show you the link's actual destination. If it doesn't look legitimate do not click on it.
In this case the web link has eve-online in the address portion then has .zxq.net instead of .com. It also has an extension that "copies" eveonline.com at the end of it to catch the images.

We have Internet space ships. And that's serious business. We also know how to write EVE properly, and occasionally our grammar is gooder ;)

Mail 1
To: (my email adress) Subject: Petition: EVE Online Account suspended From: EVE Online ([email protected])
Hi,
This mail is sent to inform you that your EVE Online account, has been closed as the account security is compromised.
It appears that hackers have gained access to your account. In order to prevent damage to your account we have closed it for seven days and created a new random password for it. Please make sure to clean your PC of keyloggers and trojans before accessing the account again.
All you should need to do, in order to gain back access to the account, is to use the following link: (tiny url inserted)
There are ways to avoid getting hacked;
1. Never buy ISK for real money. 2. Never visit ISK selling websites. 3. Never use macro programs. 4. Never share accounts with anyone. 5. Avoid logging into EVE using public computers. 6. Do not use the same username in different MMOs and if you do, certainly do not use the same password. 7. Change your password periodically. 8. Maintain a complex password.
Following these simple steps will make it much less likely that oneGÇÖs account will be hacked.
Best regards, Senior GM Nova EVE Online Customer Support

There is a new phishing email out there related to yesterday's attack on the EVE Online servers. Its text mirrors the announcement we made, but also includes a link to a malicious website. All pilots are advised to ignore this email and not to click on the link.
The phishing email text is below:
Quote: A message from our COO.
At 17:00 UTC today, CCP became aware of a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) against the EVE Online cluster and web servers.
Our policy in such cases is to mobilize a taskforce of internal and external experts to evaluate the situation. At 17:55 UTC, that group concluded that our best course of action was to go completely offline while an exhaustive scan of our entire infrastructure was executed.
While some may feel that such a drastic reaction was not warranted, it is always our approach to err on the side of caution in order to ensure the best possible service for our players and the security of their personal, billing and account information.
We understand the effect this disruption has had for our players and apologize for not having been able to explain fully to the community what was going on. In these cases it can often be counterproductive to containment to give out information while we are in the process of evaluating the scope of any potential problem.
Our taskforce concluded at 22:05 that neither the game servers nor the CCP infrastructure had been breached. Further, we can also confirm that some personal details such as users' credentials or credit card numbers were exposed through this incident.
Please check yourself if your personal details was compromised by visiting Account Management page. (link omitted).
The servers were brought back online at 23:00 and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Again, we sincerely apologize for this disruption.
Regards,
J+¦n H+¦r+¦dal
Chief Operating Officer

Quote: Turn your ISK into Game Time!
Recently we put in place a new feature to give inactive and past pilots four hours of access to EVE Online to allow easily reactivation of accounts using PLEX. Hours for PLEX lets you turn extra ISK and assets into PLEX to add game time to your account without the hassle of petitioning first or resubscribing with real life cash just to buy your time with virtual money.
Give Me My Hours For Plex
Brave the swarms of Sansha invasions, load up your guns with newly-improved rockets and Tech 2 ammo, and build favor with CONCORD to shop in their exclusive new loyalty store. Over 40 new missions have been added this expansion, along with updated complexes featuring multiple never-before-seen pirate-faction modules. Check out the Incursion site for the full list of features and fixes that have arrived in just the past few months.

Hello Pilots,
A new phishing email is making it's rounds through the emailboxes of EVE Pilots that we wish to make you aware of. Please remember to keep an eye out on links you click and double check all websites before inputting your account or any personal information.
Latest Scam wrote: A message from CCP
At 14:10 UTC today, CCP became aware of a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) against the EVE Online cluster and web servers.
Our policy in such cases is to mobilize a taskforce of internal and external experts to evaluate the situation. At 15:05 UTC, that group concluded that our best course of action was to go completely offline while an exhaustive scan of our entire infrastructure was executed.
Our taskforce concluded at 16:08 that neither the game servers nor the CCP infrastructure had been breached. Further, we can also confirm that some personal details such as usersGÇÖ credentials or credit card numbers were exposed through this incident.
Please check yourself if your personal details was compromised by visiting Account Management page . The servers were brought back online at 17:26 and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Again, we sincerely apologize for this disruption.
Regards,
J+¦n H+¦r+¦dal
