Never used one before and I'm trying to figure the item description. It says "Gives an increase to targeting range and speed." In the particulars I see:
Targeting Range Bonus = 60% Scan Resolution Bonus = 60%
Now does this module have to be targeting a specific enemy or are those bonuses applied to all targets? And I understand the targeting range bonus (though it doesn't affect the actual weapons' optimal ranges), but does this other bonus mean it works like a Target Painter?
I'm confused. -- Meridius Dex --

It simply means you will lock a target 60% quicker.
It applies to your ship rather than any specific enemy.

Your ship has certain locking range and sensor resolution. Put a sensor booster on and look up your ship's information. After this (you should be in space) activate the sensor booster and then look up your ship's info. You'll see your resolution has been decreased and max locking range extended, so any ship or object you'll be able to lock faster and at greater ranges.

Actually, the scan resolution will be INCREASED. Having a ship with a high scan resolution is a good thing. Target lock time is dependent on scan resolution and the target's sig radius. Higher numbers mean faster lock. _______________________________

yes sorry it will be increased, i was thinking of it in terms of being able to 'resolve' smaller targets faster :P

Thanks, guys, I plugged in the mod in EFT and think I understand now. So it means I'll get a lock on smaller targets faster, I take it? -- Meridius Dex --

Almost any of the larger ships wil have a sensor booster fitted if the pilot is going to PvP so as to lock smaller targets faster. A sniper BSs will have 2 or 3 fitted both to get the increased targeting range and to get the lock time down as low as possible.
