Once the rorqual has compressed the ore, what do you need to do to refine it? Do you need a rorqual on the otherside of wherever you're shipping it to to decompress it before you refine it?

No need to decompress it, the compressed ore is refinable just as the original ore. In station, just right click and hit refine.

Ice can be compressed just like ore. Rorqual, industrial mode, compression blueprint + ore, wait forever while the stuff cooks down, pray you don't have to move fast any time soon.

What I want to know is if I load my refining array with compressed Ice, will I have enough room in the array for the Ice products it produces or will excess be vented into space.

if it works like station/starbase industry it will eat all the items, and when the cycle is over the compressed ice and the blueprint will pop out

A cycle doesn't take that long, just remember that you need to deploy for at least 10 minutes.

@ dolem, it will overfill the refining array, but not vent it into space, you can still remove it like normal.
i compare it to fill a hauler with stuff, then removing the cargo expanders, the stuff stays inside, just doesn't let you move.
