The war continues and I have been having an enforced break in Empire due to work but still have been watching whats going on.
BoB had a myriad of Allies (Pets) who would fight for the cause against the RedSwarm Menace. These people are now scattered across New Eden.
It is perfectly clear that the only Alliance that can match BoB on the Allied Forces side is MC in skill and leadership. BoB wants to remain BoB with the 5 main corps that are there now. Leadership has lacked totally with all the other alliances with the results that are clear to see.
Why does BoB not create the BoB II alliance using the skilled and experienced managers that are currently BoB to absorb the Allies into a single large entity. Put recognised BoB leaders at the head of this alliance and take it forward from there.
Xelas, Fatal, Fallen Souls, M Pire, COW, Corelum, Exuro Mortis, Rise, Axiom Empire, Aftermath, YouWhat, FIX.... some are gone some are still around...
I bet the grunts in these alliances would still be fighting now with effective leadership. I know I probably would and I know that alot of the people I was in Xelas with would be. Lots of good good people there.
Just one for a Friday afternoon discussion over a few beers...

Id expect that even if BOB did want such an alliance, most of those alliances you list would be very unwilling to abandon their identities as alliances to do so. Not least because the term "pet" would take on a whole new lvl of literal meaning

Its a game, people join alliances to have fun, not to be part of some oiled organizational machine.
Yeah, it would be more efficient to have all the allies packed up into one alliance, but it wouldnt necessarily be more fun, which is what this game is about. x |

The problem with this idea is that when they either lose or win the struggle, they'll have no more targets. Everyone who's next to them will be one alliance and corporation goals, resources, egos, and communication styles are different. Mass amounts of capsulers get cranky in a limited amount of space. The whole thing will end up collapsing.

Why would people/corps want to participate in that? Their membership of an alliance is often part of their identity, becoming a sort of 'Auxilia' is not very attractive IMO. ------------------------------------------------

dont you guys even realzie how unlogical your thinking is?
first why bob dont do this: they play with people they like, not with people who play the best.
seccond: to have the best pilotes in one alliance does by far not mean that this will be the best alliance.
third: friendship is the basis of BoB and not a common goal or a target like in Goonswarm or RA.
So your idea is to get rid of people who dont play much, who maybe are not good in pvp and who are considered as less good players in general and form a new alliance sponge a lot of good people from all over eve who you dont know and form a companie. This is what it would be, a performance oriented company. A companie within a game where you come to work and not for fun.
All your idea is wrong in the first place.

Such a bad idea, they whole reason BoB has worked for so long is because its such a tight nit group of only few big corporation. All the leaders of the corps and alliances pull in the same direction and want the same things. Thats what seperated them from the rest 2-3-4 years ago from the rif raff that was around at the time.
Adding 400 corps is only going to add another 400 different agendas that can be moaned about on thier internal forums and then split them right down the middle and eventually fall apart with those once allies now shooting them.
Not to mention the fact that BoB all those alliances bar MC and Exuro Mortis are stupid idiots. So why are they suddenly going to invite them into BoB? ------------------

8-) Hasn't happened to Goonswarm yet. Folks smarter then I said they would destroy themselves like this back in February. Goons are pretty much owning the game, not by themselves, but because of all their allies.

Edited by: Hyakuchan on 09/11/2007 17:25:57 As has been said, BoB itself is a fairly close group of people of like mind that have had some successes in the past and are known for previously having the favor of the devs.
The PETS are such because they want in on that. BoB didn't seek them out, they came. Maybe because they're alliances full of sycophantic anti-social ******s who aren't welcome in BoB but clearly want to associate themselves with the alliance that has a history for under-the-tablespace dealings with CCP.
Now, where the pets look at BoB and think "Wow, I want a piece of that action," others, such as Goon, look at BoB and think "Let's beat them up."
The rest of EVE, the other serious alliances, listen to BoB's rhetoric about conquering space and think "Like hell you will" and throw in with Goon.
In a roundabout way, my point is that the reason the pets are pets is because they chose to be, not because BoB wanted them.
Now, I don't like BoB. I'm furverently pro-IAC and will be until TT runs it into the ground (which at this rate....). But I do pity BoB somewhat. It's unfortunate that in the past they got a bad rap for some fraudulent dealings that most of them weren't involved in. Had that not happened, they wouldn't have swarms of pets clamoring to join them hoping for the next windfall of illicit BPOs that won't ever happen.

Actually, BoB II will happen. They will go back to empire and come back leaner and meaner, going back to their elite pvp roots. They will base out of the great wildlands without the encumbrance of POS warfare and wrack up awesome K/D ratios while causing billions worth of isk damage against the coalition in their epic insurgency against blob warfare. Then they will die out without even a post on COAD and a member of the coalition will buy the alliance name as a corp name for a souvenir and post under the name Sir M0113.
This is just the way of things.

Dear Crimson Ghostly
I can stand the Goons, and read as few of their posts as I can. It's hard to miss your alliance mates increasingly desperate attempts to impress each other with forum-jousting, but even by my standards I know that 'poaste' is SO last year. It's not even retro-chic, it's just... unoriginal. Keep trying though. That's what you guys do, isn't it. Try hard?

Some of us were here before BoB were even formed. Coincidentally, BoB was formed while fighting my first alliance.
And to be honest, I'd rather quit the game than join a bunch of pretentious ****** like them.

Pretentious ****s ? Hell, you used to love us for the spice we brought to your game and you know it. COAD once was a game of posturing, pretention and not-too-subtle-so-still-quite-fun psychobabbling propaganda.
Now it's a p.o.s. forum waiting to be shut down in an act of mercy. Not because of goons, but because we all took it too far and because we tolerated too much OOG ****e.(imo anyway)
And hell who cares about who was around when. What matters is that people should start caring less, and playing more (except for me, I've been wrecked by RL).

Yes Rod, I used to like a few of you. But don't pretend like the majority of your alliance hasn't been behaving like elitist a-holes.
Do I need to remind you of all the arrogant posturing and metagaming your people have been involved in.
Yes I quite enjoyed fighting BoB back in the day. Most of you were civil and the metagaming was at acceptable levels. Don't even pretend it's the same now.
What I find even more funny is that BoB seems to have unleashed a minor forum squad to act nice and get peopel to atleast sympathise with you (Dafuzz comes to mind). So don't you tell me to shut up.
As for the "Noob" part, I'm only as noobish as you are.
Ps. I've stayed out of this current conflict because I can't stand metagaming of any kind and your ooponents are quite proficient at it as well.

Perhaps it is time for BoB to consolidate their allies along with their space. Only having their buffer be as many crappy pilots as possible isn't working. As the war draws closer to it's end, this becomes apparent. So we'll have to wait and see exactly how their defense strategy pans out. Time will tell.

You have it totally the wrong way round. Its BOB's leadership that you wouldn't recognize, because most of the old guys no longer play as often as they once did. Certainly they don't play often enough to be bothered with POS spam wars in Feythabolis and Paragon Soul, or even just moving their ships around the map between hotspots. The guys in those alliances who actually WANTED to join BOB, did so long ago. The majority left are mainly united by dislike of the Goons and their antics, and even that is paling as it becomes more obvious that the GBC isn't going to be able to deal with them. So far from exporting BOB's leaders, its BOB that are in need of importing new leaders and talent. Many inside recognize this, even to the point of 'excessive zeal' in their recruitment methods that had more than one of their allies discussing setting BOB red.

In my humble opinion what happened to Xelas was BoBs only mistake in this war. If you think that because is making a tactical retreat and that the end of this war is closer you are more delusional than even I can imagine (and Jamesons inspired thats alot if imagination)

On a scale of Xelas -> 10, most of those alliances were at lest a 5, with none lower then a three.

Im my humble opinion, that has been one of BoB's smartest moves thus far in the war. Removing an entity that couldn't have possibly defended the region without BoB's help, and replacing it with 2-3 decent, if not quite capable alliances to defend Fouuntain decreased greatly the chances that it would be invaded.
I have no doubt in my mind that the idea of Fountain being a stronghold, with Exuro, Corelum and Huns as the major players, slowed the unavoidable invasion that was to come.

Besides, I highly doubt anyone sympathizes with BoB due to my own forum posting. If they do, then well, they got issues.
Actually didn't say that to upset you. Just wanted to stick it into Rob. Btw How ya doin mate.

Then you will have to stand in line.

Deck please tell me you're not still on BoB's side bud! If you look at the alliances you mentioned, one was directly screwed by BoB (Xelas), four were indirectly screwed by BoB (M Pire, COW, Aftermath, and most notably Fallen Souls - heya Mitch), and the "great" PVPers that were put into Fountain because they would defend it better than Xelas...well we can all see the influence map.
News flash: Alliance losing members at an astounding rate but it's okay cause I just saved a bunch of money on car insurance by switching to Geiko.

Xelas weren't turned over by BoB because of our failure to defend. The issue was the shedload of isk farmers that BlueFlame allowed into the alliance at the behest of Norman and Proxay.
As a result the entire alliance suffered wrongly- and especially Setenta- I tried to get Thief It to take over the alliance, but he is an honourable guy and would not cross BlueFlame to the extent that he accepted the loss of U-S nearly tearing his heart out in the process, nevermind Navs...
The choice between BoB or Redswarm and I know where I would rather be...

I bet the grunts in these alliances would still be fighting now with effective leadership.
M Pire are not pro-BoB.
The problem with this logic is the assumption that it's just leadership failures holding the rest of these alliances back (it's not).

Deck, If that were true then they would have had an issue with the new tenants which ended up accepting many of the "farmers" later.

I have no doubt in my mind that the idea of Fountain being a stronghold, with Exuro, Corelum and Huns as the major players, slowed the unavoidable invasion that was to come.
and at what cost? corelum is mothballed and Exuro got steamrolled by evoke and friends and havent heard mutch from the hun's of latest, hardly a good experience to see corps and alliances get burnt out by being a breaker of a tide that is primarely aimed to get the landlord.
im not saying that corelum or exuro was pets since the term caretakers is more fitting

Corelum, more specifically Coreli Corp, was mothballed because of internal issues. Right before 0utbreak moved into A-1, Coreli was already going through the phases to remove themselves from Exuro, while having White Noise join them.
Exruo was only steamrolled because they lost 1/2 their active members due to internal issues right before the invasion began, without any time to adjust for those losses or replace them.
As for the Huns, afaik they're doing quite well against 0utbreak and have no real intention to holding stations in Fountain, but I can't attest to that surely.

There was a further reason but I cannot divulge that but it is related to the isk farmers again. So both together were enough for SirMolle to go off on one and post what he did.
Woody, why dont you go play in traffic...
After the initial usual trolling of the goonsquad there has at least been some good debate in this thread.
The thrust of the thread has centred on Fountain, that was not intentional, but with what continues to happen there I think its been appropriate...
I think there is merit in the idea, in that, issues BoB have had with their allies has all been leadership related. Corps joining a BoB II would get the experience of good leadership which it would hope would help develop allies into better allies. Grunts would get to fight all day (get replacement ships) without the usual ****e that happens in alliances. With a strong leadership developing the industry for resupply and plenty of people to fight the good fight....

Simple: Because BOB is unique. Same linke RAGOON or anybody else. Maybe one day BOB will be wiped from the maps but we'll see another BOB-like power blocks which everybody hates :) You may call them BOB II ---
