The war continues and I have been having an enforced break in Empire due to work but still have been watching whats going on.
BoB had a myriad of Allies (Pets) who would fight for the cause against the RedSwarm Menace. These people are now scattered across New Eden.
It is perfectly clear that the only Alliance that can match BoB on the Allied Forces side is MC in skill and leadership. BoB wants to remain BoB with the 5 main corps that are there now. Leadership has lacked totally with all the other alliances with the results that are clear to see.
Why does BoB not create the BoB II alliance using the skilled and experienced managers that are currently BoB to absorb the Allies into a single large entity. Put recognised BoB leaders at the head of this alliance and take it forward from there.
Xelas, Fatal, Fallen Souls, M Pire, COW, Corelum, Exuro Mortis, Rise, Axiom Empire, Aftermath, YouWhat, FIX.... some are gone some are still around...
I bet the grunts in these alliances would still be fighting now with effective leadership. I know I probably would and I know that alot of the people I was in Xelas with would be. Lots of good good people there.
Just one for a Friday afternoon discussion over a few beers...

Id expect that even if BOB did want such an alliance, most of those alliances you list would be very unwilling to abandon their identities as alliances to do so. Not least because the term "pet" would take on a whole new lvl of literal meaning

Its a game, people join alliances to have fun, not to be part of some oiled organizational machine.
Yeah, it would be more efficient to have all the allies packed up into one alliance, but it wouldnt necessarily be more fun, which is what this game is about. x |

What?
BoB sucks up grunts from pets and allies like a fat kid sucks down cake, they don't need to disassemble and reform to do exactly what they've been doing for months.

The problem with this idea is that when they either lose or win the struggle, they'll have no more targets. Everyone who's next to them will be one alliance and corporation goals, resources, egos, and communication styles are different. Mass amounts of capsulers get cranky in a limited amount of space. The whole thing will end up collapsing.

Why would people/corps want to participate in that? Their membership of an alliance is often part of their identity, becoming a sort of 'Auxilia' is not very attractive IMO. ------------------------------------------------

dont you guys even realzie how unlogical your thinking is?
first why bob dont do this: they play with people they like, not with people who play the best.
seccond: to have the best pilotes in one alliance does by far not mean that this will be the best alliance.
third: friendship is the basis of BoB and not a common goal or a target like in Goonswarm or RA.
So your idea is to get rid of people who dont play much, who maybe are not good in pvp and who are considered as less good players in general and form a new alliance sponge a lot of good people from all over eve who you dont know and form a companie. This is what it would be, a performance oriented company. A companie within a game where you come to work and not for fun.
All your idea is wrong in the first place.

Such a bad idea, they whole reason BoB has worked for so long is because its such a tight nit group of only few big corporation. All the leaders of the corps and alliances pull in the same direction and want the same things. Thats what seperated them from the rest 2-3-4 years ago from the rif raff that was around at the time.
Adding 400 corps is only going to add another 400 different agendas that can be moaned about on thier internal forums and then split them right down the middle and eventually fall apart with those once allies now shooting them.
Not to mention the fact that BoB all those alliances bar MC and Exuro Mortis are stupid idiots. So why are they suddenly going to invite them into BoB? ------------------

That was a rather well-structured and argumentated statement. The last line, however, was totally, utterly unnecessary.

8-) Hasn't happened to Goonswarm yet. Folks smarter then I said they would destroy themselves like this back in February. Goons are pretty much owning the game, not by themselves, but because of all their allies.
I ain't a fan of Goons, but ya gotta givem props for lasting this long.

Edited by: Hyakuchan on 09/11/2007 17:25:57 As has been said, BoB itself is a fairly close group of people of like mind that have had some successes in the past and are known for previously having the favor of the devs.
The PETS are such because they want in on that. BoB didn't seek them out, they came. Maybe because they're alliances full of sycophantic anti-social ******s who aren't welcome in BoB but clearly want to associate themselves with the alliance that has a history for under-the-tablespace dealings with CCP.
Now, where the pets look at BoB and think "Wow, I want a piece of that action," others, such as Goon, look at BoB and think "Let's beat them up."
The rest of EVE, the other serious alliances, listen to BoB's rhetoric about conquering space and think "Like hell you will" and throw in with Goon.
In a roundabout way, my point is that the reason the pets are pets is because they chose to be, not because BoB wanted them.
Now, I don't like BoB. I'm furverently pro-IAC and will be until TT runs it into the ground (which at this rate....). But I do pity BoB somewhat. It's unfortunate that in the past they got a bad rap for some fraudulent dealings that most of them weren't involved in. Had that not happened, they wouldn't have swarms of pets clamoring to join them hoping for the next windfall of illicit BPOs that won't ever happen.

Edited by: Tashiell Gao on 09/11/2007 18:49:44 I really miss the elegant and the top BOBs once was. i got introduced to EVE back in 01/07. the first ever thing my mate who brought me into EVE showed me was "Backstory---->Alliances-------> a big red "族" at the bottom of the first page" and said to me "this is the most powerful alliance in game." that time i even can't get the differnce between corp and alliance. i wonder what the game will be without BOB to look up to/against to. it's a bit early to discuss "i wonder what the game will be without BOB". still hoping BOB will turn back into the elegant b*stard everyone hates but all want to join.
