Hey all....
...so, here I am returning to the mission running scene after a few months off.
I grab a mission ( pirate invasion ), fit my Raven, gang up with my fleet-alt and off I go.
Should be a quick and easy, first room usually houses a BS and about ten cruisers....well, not any more.
just through the gate I was promptly assaulted by a red mob.....i counted at least a dozen BS and god only knows how many other little guys. i was knocked into structure and running for dear life in the time it took to sink one target
Did the galaxy really become that much more dangerous while i was napping ? Some announcement I never heard ?
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Level 4's should be a bit easier to do now, well some might be a bit hard to do. You should use this IGB friendly guide when you do lvl 4 missions. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many

Edited by: Andrue on 12/11/2007 08:00:49 For Pirate Invasion you need to be set up to tank for EM as primary and perhaps a little thermal. You should be firing EM. When you arrive don't move. Wait to see what aggros you then respond accordingly. Prioritise the closest battleships. Moving triggers additional aggro so if possible [i]stay still.
PI is one of the harder missions for Caldari ships because of the EM. Even my Nighthawk suffers a little - I've seen the shields drop below 70% once or twice (I don't fit a booster).
The clue to missions is-as ever-good planning. On the mission description you should have seen a small 'Sansha' icon. This tells you which damage types to expect. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

I take down notes on every different mission I do for quick referance if I get it again, these are the notes I have for this missions.
Pirate Invasion (Guristas) 2 X Kinetic Hardeners - Use Kinetic Missiles
Pocket 1 - Leave Coms Officer (BS) to last.
Pocket 2 - More ships spawn if you destroy closest BS as you warp in.

I didn't realise there was a Guristas version and it's quite different to the Sansha version. The Sansha version is a single pocket and the spawns are on a short timer. Everything arrives within a minute or two. Initially just over half the rats aggro you but if you move toward a group it will aggro (hence the advice to sit still, lol).

If you sit still, you're going to have to tank *a lot* of damage, even if only half of the NPCs are shooting in the Sansha version. I usually pick a distant structure (that one right "in front" as you enter at around 65km is fine) and start orbiting it at full speedat current range, aggroing everything (Drake, shields never go anywhere close to critical this way) and picking off targets slowly... I move at roughly the same speed as them, which keeps them out of their best damage range... might work in a Raven too, but not too sure.
